the reason why these recaps are life savers is because re zero has a lot of false timelines, you don’t know what has actually happened and what hasn’t. that would take this anime from 10/10 to 9/10 for me... and maybe 8.5/10 because it made me sad

It's good to see I'm not the only one who felt conflicted about season2. I loved season 1, made it one of my favorite animes, but season2 was meh. At some point I felt forced to continue watching... I didnt feel like it was the Rezero I knew... Even Subaru restarting over didnt feel as tragic or shocking as it felt in season 1. It's like the events were not that serious/dangerous Shame :/

I have never been so into an anime and have season 2 not be disappointing but straight up annoying. i actually started skipping through episodes like it was naruto fillers. I felt ashamed but not gonna have my time wasted with repetitive and meaningless deaths. one of the only good parts was when they relooked at all of his deaths and what it was like for that timeline to live on without subaru.

Honestly the story for season 2 was really good but a bit confusing. Although one thing that pisses me off is how trash the fight scenes are in s2. They're literally garbage. Season 1 fight scenes were significantly better. The first fight against elsa and the fight against the white whale were literally so good it blew it my mind. I really hope they try harder next season for better fights.

I thought this season was pretty bad, it doesn't move a single checkpoint which I can accept if it sacrificed it for character progression. But Subaru in season 1 tried to do everything himself and realised he can't, then regressed in season 2 to doing the same shit, feeling sorry for himself, calling himself useless while fishing for compliments, all to realise at the end that people care about him and then he said he can't believe a ground dragon was the first one to make him realise that, like what? Did he forget Rem's speech in season 1? Julius saying he wished they could have been friends? Otto literally saying that shit in season 2 and going on the run for him? We spent 13 episodes going back to where we already left off. We had about 5 "I just had a breakdown but I'm done feeling sorry for myself, I can do this," moments with this pitiful twat. And the worst thing is even after the 7 witches meeting he goes straight back to blubbering over himself while talking to Roswaal, he also goes back to saying if you hate me then punish only me, completely misunderstanding what Roswaal's intentions were the dopey spastic. I wish Guts from berserk was the MC, he would get shit done. I'm yet to watch S2 part 2 but if it's more of the same I might just drop it.

I’m pretty sure him losing Rem was the main reason he regressed as he literally says in episode 13, if he didn’t value what might happen to him he could have saved Rem but either way s2p2 isn’t like part 1 if that makes you feel better.

That writing is poor man because she is voicing genuine concerns like what if I'm just not good enough and his answer is I'll still love you, which literally leads her back into the exact same problem she already had which was relying on puck too much, now he's telling her dw all your worth is decided by me loving you.

The argument wasn’t logical it was purely emotional argument. The web novel literally says there’s no logic in any of their words.

Ugh I keep coming back to this video every time I finish an episode of part 2 and still don't know whats happening after 3 episodes. I was never confused watching the show but after taking a few months off after part 1 I forgot everyone's motives for why they do stuff.. Like why is Roswaal evil, why does Garfiel not want to free the sanctuary, why did Puck leave, and then now Emilia's saying shes a witch... It honestly makes a show I loved just a chore to watch since every time there's a dramatic scene that would have got me hyped in previous seasons I'm just sitting there confused.
