I like how Reacher completely dwarfs the dest officer when he enters. Then, when he's asking him about army ranks and protection for the woman, the height difference somehow begins to even out, because the policeman has to be the one now helping Reacher. Fun with camera angles to make certain impressions.
@tajj7
@tajj7 Жыл бұрын
Yeh they played with camera angles and got him casted with short people, plus made some of the sets adjusted to make him look bigger. I think Alan Ritchson is about 6' 2" so not quite Reacher height but all the little tricks give him a similar physical presence. I think for example the scene where he is in the prison on the bed, they made the bed smaller so his legs stick out the end to make him look way bigger. It's very key to the stories, Reacher's size is always mentioned, people notice him immediately when he appears in a room etc. I hope in the next season they make him a little more rough, he is usually a bit disheveled entering towns having been on the road for a while and people often call him a vagabond or similar because of his rough and ready appearance.

@@tajj7Yep, and they are also trying really really hard to replicate the books version of him... I think what's taking so long to make them, is because they are in a 3rd person narrative style... Or a 1st person account from Reacher himself... But in a video form, u cant replicate each and every one of Reacher's thought processes and conclusions... Maybe some of them, where he explains them to somebody, but mostly since he works alone, its absolutely difficult to replicate that exact systemic approach, and methodology that he follows... (Maybe they can show some monologue when he murmers in his head, but not all of it, otherwise it would be a disaster) I guess that's what made Sherlock Holmes so popular... Since he always had Dr. Watson with him, the ordinary reader could always appreciate the unique and sharp approach Sherlock took, and follow his line of reasoning, when he would explain everything to him... I think they are trying really hard to come up with support characters who help them do that... But also not to make Reacher boast about everything, and become a social person, since his alienation is what gives him his gritty persona... (That's why this scene isn't in the original book, but they created it, just so the readers could appreciate some of the missed monologue, and appreciate his peculiar personality)

@@XYKEunfortunately I think the writers strike has more to do with why it is taking so long. Lost infamously was never the same quality as before the writers strike during its show run. Hopefully Reacher is an exception, they just have to remain faithful to the source material, that is what got them this far.
@XYKE

@@crispybatman480 time matter aside, u do get the narrative part right??? Retelling a story written in a first person account is a challenge... Its like making a movie on a autobiography... @@XYKE Oh I certainly get that, these writers are putting on a case study for TV show book adaptations. I am just worried that much of that talent or nuance will be hindered by the strike. I will add, luckily video as a medium is very effective at making us feel empathy, and they can utilize the show don't tell method of visual storytelling to give us insight to inner dialogues etc. Not quite first person, but reading first person and watching an effective piece of visual storytelling with a quality actor give similar effects.

22-26 episodes worked great for original and classic era star trek, each episode had a start, a middle and an end.. They were basically 22-26 episode mini movies with the odd 2 parters thrown in here and there. But if you look at current era star trek, where they try and do a giant 12 hour film, it's a travesty.. The only story lines that would warrant such massive run times (according to Hollywood) is galaxy and universe ending plots.. If they tried to do something like that for reacher, it would end up being something silly that would require going to 30 countries and stop every terrorist setting off nukes and stealing submarines.. Though, what would be nice, is them not taking years and years to come out with another season.

I always laugh a little whenever someone say's scenes like this are unrealistic, the brotherhood of service runs strong. Which is why it's such a big deal when it is broken.

I think the most impressive thing Reacher did there was to see how the cop's shoes are tied even though he was standing behind a desc all the time. Superman radar vision delux.

I spent nearly a year in Tbilisi in the ex-Soviet republic of Georgia. At the cashpoints you could either withdraw Georgian Lari or US $50 or $100 bills. I paid my son's nanny and my landlord and landlady in dollars. I never saw a US dollar bill less than $50.
