Always liked it too, but they should stop coincidentally making the person appear out of nowhere just as they were done talking about him. Cruise plays a good part. Moves well, is intense. However I like the Amazon series better, that reacher is much closer to the character in most ways. After all reacher is a tank that can move and without reserve. With that I still enjoyed the films. Cruise is pretty much good at whatever he does.

He can be anything you want him to be, you might prefer the amazon character but as there is no such person, so neither of them are close to the real character, how could they be? That is like saying George Reeves in closer to the real Superman than Christopher Reeve or vice versa, personally I like them both but have a preference for Tom Cruise as I think it is more believable, i'e' when they have a gang of kids attack a man mountain, that is a little hard to believe, when he crushes them it is to be expected, Tom Cruise beats them with pure skill that they did not see coming, he always goes into the fight as the underdog, badly outnumbered, that is what makes Cowards think they can win, that is why they try......and most people like to see the underdog win, conversely when the Man Mountain kicks ass, every one sees it coming, it's hard to think a gang of young Cowards would attack that and think it's gunna end well....but hey, it's just an opinion Have a great day

Cruise has been playing Maverick for over THREE DECADES, and CARRIED OFF playing Reacher ONCE. Reacher is described as 6'5" and us described as; 'having fists like a couple of turkeys', probably some of the greatest miscasting in HOLLYWIERD history.

Really like the movie, the only problem is the antagonist. They do such a great job of creating a sense of dread, but the reveal is a damp squib. A company that builds stuff no-one needs? Just doesn't work. Needed more thought and fleshing out. The film around it is great though. Underrated.

It was missing the mark so badly it ruined the immersion. The bad guys were reacting in automatic fear to a short nondangerous guy. He was dangerous but they would not know that. He did not own it. The movie unraveled.

Also there is a niche group of people that read a book and never accept a movie interpretation ever no matter how good or closely it was followed the book. I mean look at Lord of the Rings an example. Peter Jackson did a great job bringing the novel to screen and he still had critics from the author’s family and fans and that swear he missed the mark. Tom Cruise did a brilliant tole as Jack Reacher. Whilst, I like the Amazon series, Cruise looks more like a soldier; when he has his clothes on he looks "normal" but his wiring frame is akin to how a real soldier would look like. That and the fact most ppl like the underdog, makes Cruise an ideal Jack Reacher.

His primary role was to police soldiers, not fight alongside them. Obviously, he went through standard army training at a minimum but that is an important distinction.

Well, some fight scenes couldn't be done with a person with Tom's size. In the novels, most fights end in seconds, because Reacher deal so much damage with his first hit, and he often hit first. With Tom, to make it look convincing, they have to use combo attacks.

The only drawback is Tom Cruise is not a 6 footer. However, the subtle humour laced tough image - only he can pull off. Like our generation cannot separate Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke from Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, we cannot think of any other actor other than Tom Cruise from Reacher and Hunt.

Tom Cruise worked his regular magic in the 2 films and the real Reacher couldn't have followed this screenplay well as everyone involved are tiny people and the onscreen dynamics would have been off. Alan Ritchson needs to be in a feature film as Reacher and it needs to be made as well as this movie was.

The idea of a "GHOST of a person" suits better with Tom Cruise for many reasons, The Amazon version is also good & enjoyed thoroughly, but I think it's too much noticable, talking, feeling, bulldozing through situations, getting provocated & fighting too easily for a character like this... it doesn't fit well or align with the Idea of a GHOST character...
