SB19 changed the music of MAPA specifically for The First Take. Here, the music is simpler and more cheerful, especially in the beginning of the song. I hope you watch the original lyric video. The music there is more complex. And the emotion in the vocals is heavier, filled with concern for their parents' lifelong effort and sacrifice. 😊

SB19 said that every song they release speaks about them and their journey. That's why the lyrics are very relatable and pull at our heartstrings. And the way they sing, you can really feel their emotions that even if you cannot understand the language you can relate to them. They have another First Take song, GENTO. You will enjoy it for sure. Long Post ahead 😅 In general, Filipinos have tight family ties and most of the children, when they grow up, tends to give back/take care of their elders in anyway they can. This is why many (Filipinos) can relate to the lyrics and may also resonate to other countries with similar culture. A well crafted song that not only pay homage/express appreciation to the parents (or anyone who's acted as one), but also reminds the younger generation that time is ticking so do what's most important ---express your love/appreciation while you still can. Fun fact: this song was created out of their laundry routine when they were touring around the Philippines and have been away from their families ---whom they miss. In case you haven't checked, the original arrangement of this song (lyric video) is different ---it's more somber & serious (I guess?) compared to how bright and light they sang it on First Take. Still, love both versions! Thank you for reacting to SB19 & hope you can do more of their songs ---they can do most genres, so I'm sure you'll find a song or two that's your cup of tea. 😊

It seems that the original lyric video was the longing they had to be successful and give back to their families.. but this version is like they have achieved success already and can give back to their families, which they are already doing at this time.. 😊

声が1番低いKEN君は両親2人とも出稼ぎのため、祖父母によって育てられたため、親を知らずに育ちました。Ken君も、Josh君も、こういう親が欲しかった願望も入れた詞なのかもしれません。パブロの場合は、Ken君と違い親も出稼ぎでしたが、はなれていても家族中はとても良かったそうです。

Thanks for a great RV!! I really appreciate how you both take the time to really analyse and dissect the songs from a Japanese point-of-view. It's fascinating to learn how music can transcend different cultures. Btw, you're correct about how Filipinos tend to have closer ties to their family which is probably why MAPA is such a beloved song in the country. If you love ballads, SB19 has done several amazing ballads and they perform them best live. Some of my favourites are "ILAW" , a song that tackles about depression and "LIHAM", probably one of the most romantic love songs I've ever heard. They perform this live on the WISH BUS, which is sort of the Philippine's version of 'The First Take'. Hope you get to check it out when you have the time! Thanks again for a great watch!

彼らの歌の歌詞と楽曲はほぼパブロ君が書いてます。今回はJay Durias of South Border and by Simon Servida, が編曲を手伝いましたが、いつもはパブロ君とその弟(RADKidz)で行ってます. 「ラチャラチャラ」「世界」という意味で、パブロのおばあちゃんがよく歌っていた子守唄の一生説だそうです。

Thank you for you RV. I hope what I read in the auto translate is correct. 😃 Even in the Philippines, not everyone grew up and nurtured by their biological parents. Other than Ma (mother) and Pa (father), mapa also means map. Meaning anyone who guided you to become the person you are today. So, the song is not just limited to biological parents. Good example is Josh who never met his father. His mom is both a mom and dad to him. Ken grew up with his grandparents. So even if his parents were still involved in his life but majority of the nurturing and guiding when he was growing up was done by his grandparents, so in my opinion they are also his mapa. Pablo who wrote the lyrics also mentioned the same thing.

Everyone could relate, even you are raised by just your mom, just your dad or even just your grandparents. They are your MA(mom) and PA(Dad) that become your guide(MAP/MaPa) growing up. Even some of the members has no perfect figure of MA and PA growing up. Josh didn't met her Dad eversince and Ken grow up with just his Grandparents. So basically we can't take it literally coz' there's someone who stood up as our MA(Mom) and PA (Dad) in our upbringing.

グループメンバーが、お洗濯を畳んでいたときに、パブロがみんなに親に何を伝えたいと聞いたことをもとに詞を書いたそうです。第二部の父のパートを歌ったJosh君は、結構悲惨な過去があり、実は父親をに会ったことがありません。有名になったとき、父親の親族と初めて出会って,実は父親が精神病で入院、そのためなのか家族を捨て、既に死亡していたとのことです。それを説明していたインタビューで、涙目で、「父と会ってみたかったがもう会えない」と少し笑いながら話していました

Thank you for reacting to SB19. They are more than the typically boy group, they are well-rounded artists that write and produce their own music, choreograph their dances earlier in their careers (they have an in-house choreographer named Jay now), and are creative directors/directors of their MVs and other artists. They also created their own music label called 1Z (One Zone) Entertainment. Some special things to note about the song: 1. Written by Pablo after he asked the members while they were doing laundry what they wanted to tell their parents. He also arranged which parts each would sing 2. Ken was brought up by his grandparents since his parents worked overseas to help provide for their family. During the time of their promotion for MAPA was when his beloved grandmother passed away😭 3. Josh was raised by a single mother and never met his father. Pablo gave him those lyrics to sing about dad, which brought even more emotion to the song🥺 Hope you will checkout their other songs especially ILAW and LIHAM (1st the official lyric video for the Eng translation and then their Wish Bus performance) If you would like to get to know more about the boys, would highly recommend: 1. ご感想ありがとうございます！実は、SB19のメンバーは全員良い家族で育てられていたわけではないです。ラッパーのJoshはお父さんが一度も会わなかった。母親はシングルマザーとして2人の子供を育った。今回のMapaでは、Joshはわざとパパに対する歌詞を歌ったが、それは目的がありました。会わなかったパパに創造・希望・夢としてのメッセージを伝えたいからです。Kenも田舎育ちで、子供のころから両親2人とも日本に移住しお金を稼ぎ、田舎にいる家族にサポートをできるためです。Stellも高校から大学まで勉強を支えるために２つのバイトをやりました。なので、彼らは貧しい環境であったからこそこのような心響く歌え方はできるからです。Pabloの過程は普通ですが、本人は音楽は大好きで、両親に対する愛と恩返しはとても深い。Justinは唯一のお金持ちですが、純粋な心を持っています。何よりも、彼ら5人は音楽を通して聴いているみんな様に心を動かしたいです。

I think Ken's parents went to work in Malaysia. But yes, Ken was raised by his grandparents while his parents were away. 😊 Both Josh and Ken were not raised by their fathers. I, too, find it so sad that they both sing the papa lines of the song. Their hearts are strong!

Ilaw and Liham next please in the wish bus.. 😊 Ilaw has no captions though so it's best to check out the lyric video first.. 😊 I believe these 2 are their best ballads..😊 Mapa is simplier compared to Ilaw and Liham, but it is more popular as it really shows the Filipino culture and has actually been used in a lot of graduation ceremonies in PH.. there's always a part there where you sing a song and pay tribute to parents and Mapa has been the popular choice for this part of the program... And SB19 does not have perfect families, like Josh never met his Dad and Ken's parents were working abroad since he was young and I believe Pablo's parents or one of them worked outside the country as well, but the desire to give back when they get older is born out of love and gratitude and not beacuse their families are picture perfect.. Pablo mostly writes songs for SB19 using their own experience, and so you can feel the genuine emotions in their songs, because in one way or another, they lived it and experienced it.. and it transcens to listeners... 😊 Thank you for your reaction ❤ hoping for more SB19.. 😊 Thank you!! 😊

Great reaction! I noticed that both First Take videos you reacted to has no audio. Might be best to fix that. Lastly, I highly suggest reacting to SB19's live broadcast stage performance at the Asian Artist Awards 2023. There were several top K-Pop artist at the award show and their jaws dropped when SB19 showed how talented they are.
