"Do lolitas still carry around parasols?" YES ABSOLUTELY. I love in socal, if I don't carry one around I'll melt. You could try buying direct from brand or trying taobao. I feel like even if you could find one second hand its hard to know if the person shipping it to you would pack it safely, where-as you can get your money back if you buy it direct from a brand. (Who have packed many a parasol!)

I have to agree with them on labeling and keeping fashion pure, ive been into fairy kei and gyaru for a while and it seems like in Japan theyre doibg more experimenting and just having more fun, but anywhere else youre "disgracing the fashion/subculture" even if its still clearly that fashion. Maybe i don't wanna wear contacts y'all, a lot of gyaru dont

I feel like lolita is especially like that too, even now. If I tag a lolita aesthetic pic with lolita fashion and it isn’t 100% by the rules I get all kinds of silly messages lol I sort of get it, but at the same time fashion should be able to grow and evolve with time
@byff62095 жыл бұрын
@@TheStitchess I think the "rules" of classic/original fairy kei are just right for flexibility in fashion. Keep to cute prints and designs, mostly pastel. Older pictures of fairy kei include plenty of black and white, but that automatically "disqualifies" any coord :(

I agree that black can look kind of awkward in fairy kei but it looks really good with pop kei looks!

Oooh, I remember reading about the documentary on Aly's and Victoria's blogs when it was being made but I never really watched it! I think in a way I miss the innocence and simplicity of the 2009 styles and the lifestyle obsession, even though even with nostalgia goggles it looks far less "refined and mature" than today's version. Thank you for this trip down memory lane, I loved the video!

for me it super depends,,, I can appreciate it in a super old school like 90s old school coord, when it was super normal. Some JSKs can still look balanced (blah blah promenade de Paris blah, but that is basically an OP so who's counting) but yeah, in general it just DOES look better when you wear a blouse, and people who want to discuss this are mostly looking for excuses instead of genuinely finding advice for balanced coords.

I’ve got like 2 jsks that were advertised as summer beach side coordinates and meant to not be worn with a blouse. It super depends on the cord I think. Like yeah some REALLY don’t work without a blouse but some are designed to not be

Popping in a year later to say, I have a light sky blue lace parasol that cost me $80 because it was handcrafted by someone else, but I would definitely use it if I were to coordinate a lolita look that had light colours (my whole wardrobe turned black and gray lmao) but I remember in high school, I had a friend who wanted to make lolita dresses with me, but she was constantly berating me and saying my ideas weren't ""true lolita"" if I didn't add long enough socks or a fluffy enough petticoat and also she told me I would never look good in sweet lolita, and I was like? Friendship over lol I can wear whatever I want tf /:

Very interesting video, like as usual on your channel ^^ I have never and i'm not into lolita fashion, but i love to see other people talking about it, it's very fascinating. And, even though back in 2009 American lolitas weren't always following the rules, i found some of their outfits very cute. You should do more videos like this one btw ^^

I'm not a lolita but I have a couple petticoat dresses and skirts. I got my parasol from the ER at my mom's hospital, because it was in lost and found for a month and my mom said "hey, that looks like something my offspring would wear". It's massive, and is worth it for any event in the afternoon - Florida's weather in the rainy season is a heat wave at 1pm and a rainstorm anywhere from 2pm to 4pm. I get trying to limit your consumption, but it's very unlikely that a parasol is gonna fall out of the blue like mine because there's not a surplus of them. It'd be best to just buy direct from a brand you like.
