For goths, if all you wear is black, categorize your clothing items by texture/material rather than color. Some ideas: fishnet, lace, chiffon, velvet, denim, PVC, basic cotton, corduroy, silk, etc.

Confidence is a muscle - the more you practice using it the easier it gets. I’m sorry you got bullied for something you enjoy, it’s always hard to go through that kind of stuff. Maybe wear the dress at home or maybe just when going out with friends/family until you feel more comfortable? That way when you do start wearing more stuff like that more publicly it’ll be easier to stand up for yourself if anyone harasses you. (Also if that person keeps bullying you definitely tell your parents/teachers!)

I like the idea of creating a chart for reference (so I can declutter my head a bit) but I think for my wardrobe I would need an extra catchall "wacky" column. Now that I think about it, a good chunk of my closet could count as "statement pieces", and I have so many different styles that I like that it might actually be hard to come up with consistent themes for the columns. Hmm, time to do a pre-chart first I guess. Actually I would probably also need a chart for my accessories and one for my stockings/socks/leg warmers as well...

Yeah but bright lemon yellow is a very playful gender-neutral and childish color and so are overalls, so combining fhe two together might really be too much for someone's style/personality that doesnt match those characteristics. Kinda like a knee lenght coat with big lapels in crimson or jet-black or ruffly short wrap dress in hot pink. It can exist but it wont be a basic piece for most people.

I love Daria's channel 😉 I've purchased her course which I find very interesting. I recommend this channel even if your style is alternative, she has really good advice ! Your approach is quite different and I like the idea. However I don't know if it's useful for me since I don't have a lot of clothing and I have max two or three items of the same color or pattern. What do you think?
@TheStitchess4 жыл бұрын
It’s probably not super useful to tiny closets - maybe organize based on the need a clothing serves?
@Enialem4 жыл бұрын
What I've done is the past is actually based on capsule wardrobe and also Daria's method. Maybe it can benefit others : it was a similar chart but the aim is to see what items go together, to maximize your number of outfits. You can see which items don't go with a lot of your wardrobe. The problem is that it's not super useful with layering since you have only columns and rows 😅... But maybe it's a good idea for Lolita, to see if you have a lot to coordinate with your main pieces 😊 And as I'm writing this, I now remember that I have waaay more than three navy pieces 😂 That's my base color.

How do i figure out my personal style? I reallllyyy wanna get into alt fashion to feel more comfortable w my trans body and "normal" women's clothes often don't feel right to me. Also, being trans means ppl are gonna gawk at me and be confrontational no matter how I dress, so I may as well dress the way I want. I wanna look kinda goth but also not??? I dunno. Also I wanna wear a lot of shiny shit. Basically I wanna be a bad, slutty monster bitch, but also cute? And there's so many styles, cuts, necklines, etc and I have no idea how to make them go together its so overwhelming. After years of being smothered in "boy clothes" I have still yet to fully construct a wardrobe that I feel comfortable in and my brain is screaming at me for self-expression lol.
@katja31204 жыл бұрын
It's totally okay to take a looooong time to figure out your personal style. I'm not trans, so I can not know how that affects you, but judging from your comment I assume you want to feel more "feminine" by wearing cute clothes? (I can totally be wrong tho, so if I misunderstood I'm sorry) One thing that I know many people associate with femininity is a waist, or an hourglass figure. If that is the case for you, a good way to do that is by wearing some kind of belt. It doesn't seem like it from your comment, but if you feel uncomfortable with tight clothes that can make you feel dysphoric some days then you can tuck a big sweater into a belt, it becomes very fluffy and airy so it hides your actual shape while still giving more of a waistline. A great influence for this kinda cute with a waist is Mikan here in youtube (and instagram). Her style is cute, but not quite as cute as some other people with a similar styles. She sometimes wears more gothic clothes but also sometimes very kawaii clothes. I think she's a great example of a person who has taken influence from several different styles and created their own. Lolita styles also give a more "feminine" look, if you're interested in such garments I suggest looking for inspiration on a website called lace market. It's essentially a second hand network. for Lolita. If you look at the top there's other sub-versions of the website as well that includes J-fashion or gothic clothes. I don't now how to access them without going to lace market first lol. Other youtubers that talk about fashion are Bestdressed (more "normal" but very informative) and Steal The Spotlight (mixes aaaaaall kinds of styles together and somehow still look bomb) I have still not figured out my style either, which is fine. Sometimes I think I have it covered, and then I fall in love with a piece that does not fit that description at all. I think trying on a lot of different types of clothes is one way to find what colors you look good in and in what shades. This can give you an idea of what colors you want to build your wardrobe around. If you don't have a lot of color your interested or not interested in (aka you can wear all kind of colors. Or you have figured out your go to colors) another good way is to look at fit. Do you like wide, puffy or tight long sleeved shirts? Maybe all of them? That's fine, and if that is the case then you can go on to the next kind or garment like skirts or pants, or maybe dresses and jackets. Consider things like length, thickness, feel of the clothing and so on. This is hard though and don't stress it too much. I like the color brown on other people, but not on me. However, that doesn't mean that I have to exclude It from my wardrobe completely. Instead it means that I'll buy garments in other colors first to find basics and then maybe look a little more into brown clothes. Or if I find a piece that I really really like for some reason. If I were to give you some tips on this step I would suggest you look at your favorite items and what you wear them with. What is your favorite shirt and what is your favorite skirt? Maybe there's similarities between your favorites and how you style them. Or maybe they're completely different, which can also teach you something. Maybe your favorite item is not the one you grab the most, that's also something to consider. If you're interested in both kawaii fashion and goth fashion maybe you're also interred in pastel goth fashion, or maybe your interested in the E-girl fashion? If your goal is cute, but sexy I think fashion wise Jazmin Bean is really cool. They inspire me a lot at least. There is absolutely nothing wrong with mixing different styles together to create your own. When it comes to fashion, I don't think it's a good idea to limit yourself too much unless you have some kind of shopping addiction. I'm sure you already do this, but looking at inspiration online is SUCH a life saver. When you finally have an outfit that feels like a 10/10, then it's a worth it lol
