I like snap on but I love money. 400 dollars vs 14k is a big difference. I’m not throwing shade. I’m a firm believer in whatever makes you happy do it. That being said I would rather have money in the bank.

Agreed. I like my Snap On tools, but I could never justify paying for a box. I love my Harbor Freight boxes.

Were you guys paying 14 for a box? Used epics with hutch and a side locker or just box itself maybe around 4.5 k

Agreed. If money was abundant id look at SO, Mac or Even Matco tool boxes.nothing else... maybe a SO ratchet thats it. In Canada we lack offers and the other day i called a SO dealer i was trying to track down because im a Sparky apprentice who likes DIY everything even mechanical. I told him you offer discount to apprentices on more trades right? He said gladly yes "just provide the trade apprenticeship number we all have" you buy up to 15,000. It was a sad day. Couldn't afford almost 6,000 for a new small box. I ended buying a Milwaukee with wood countertop, power bar, soft close thicker steel thab regular husky but up there with their heavy duty line. For 1,341 CAD (around 990 usd) couldn't be happier and satisfied. Its filled with Stahlwille wrenches, Klein, Wera, Koken, Vessel, Astro, Gripedge, USAG, Milwaukee hand tools, Gear wrench, oem, lisle, Husky, Toughbuilt, Maximum, Milwaukee M12 and 18V Ridgid. Just what's almost the best on each brand and or whats needed.

A lot of guys don't just stand in a drawer of their toolbox. They invite friends over, too. "Hey, what's up bro? Nothing man. I'm just standing around in my toolbox." These are the same guys that think a Toyota Corolla is as good as a Ferrari because both will carry the same sack of groceries. You be you.

Before all the wide monster boxes were common I had a friend who traded his snap on box for a much bigger Mac box, the big lower drawer welds broke just by putting all his air tools in it. Im only 5’8” and at that time about 180. I could not see in the top of my box , roll cabinet, mid section , and top box. The bottom drawer was often a step for me to get to the top

The tool box doesn't make the mechanic. And I say this with over 40 years in the trades. If you like to move around a lot, and most mechanics do, buy several small boxes that you can put together, otherwise prepare to call a wrecker.

I've seen that video. I am certain the classic96 I bought in 2006 had 4 slides on the deep drawer. But I traded out of that 3 years ago, so I could be mistaken.

snapon box is about 13 thousand dollars more expensive, and all that money gets you is a drawer that bends compared to the el cheapo box

Another thing people tend to forget is how miserable it is to move a cheap toolbox. They tend to fall apart. If you are not one to move your toolbox often you might get a lot of years out of a cheap box. Great video thanks for sharing.

Val was very nice about it . The guy in the snap on box definitely doubled the boxes limit on that drawer . I just got a Mac tools tech 1000 out of a storage auction and it’s heavy as sin compared to any Home Depot has in store that size .

Speaking truth right there. I tell you what i know quantity never compares to quality. And when you buy cheap tools thats exactly what you get a whole lot quantity and no quality (most times douglas usa pliers 16$ best pump pliers EVER) because youll be buying new “inexpensive tools” over and over again and they aint fun to use.

No one needs a Lamborghini. But people still buy them. Why did the guy have to hold the box from tipping over? The Snap-on very deep drawer only had one slide rail, for being so deep!

Is it ok to start off with mid range tools for the first couple of years because tool truck tools are so expensive just a set of deep and shallow chrome sockets are like $800 I could get a set of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 sockets with ratchets and extensions and have money left to buy wrenches and other stuff the automotive industry doesn’t really pay a lot compared to other trades and it’s one of the most expensive investment out of all of them where majority of your paychecks for the first few years goes into your tools people debate that cheaper tools get the job done the same way an expensive high quality tool truck tool does and if it brakes they have lifetime warranty and can replace them every time they break and they save money not buying tool truck brand tools why others argue that time is money and tools are how they make their living off they don’t want to waste time finding a replacement or borrowing a tool they broke or driving to the store to warranty it that they withstand daily abuse working on cars because of the higher quality materials it’s a whole back and forth debate about this I would certainly love to have snap on tools if I could comfortably afford them I want to take pride in my investment for the career I’m probably going to do till I retire
