This was one of the very first songs that I really connected with emotionally while singing. I can technique stuff to death but this song just pulled me in so I performed it rather than sang it. Love it! Thank you Sam. Your analysis of the nuances in his voice was so insightful.

this is also my first time learning about teddy swims and this was such a beautiful performance! his voice is so warm, like a fuzzy blanket! also he's got a great beard lol. and i always love watching Sam mimic the different mouth shapes as he watches a performance! it's really cool seeing what things he focuses on. before, i didn't realize how big of a role mouth shape could play in terms of the kind of sound you want, and this channel really helped me learn that! i also used to think that being breathy or gravelly with your voice was bad in any circumstance (which i now realize might be due to choir being my only experience in vocal training lol) so it's always really cool seeing that analyzed in a non-exclusionary way! the open-mindedness to all the sorts of voices and techniques that can be possible is something i've always really loved about Sam's analyses. i'm also loving the direction the editing and thumbnails have been going lmao

I've fallen in love with your channel so hard! I don't sing, I don't even intent to and I have to Google Translate lots of this technical vocabulary since I'm very very french. I’ve just heard Teddy sing Teddy sing for the first time today and this song. Wow! Wow, wow I don’t understand the technicalities of how he sings and appreciate your breakdown of the technique Sam, but the emotion in his voice is phenomenal. I feel it’s almost impossible not to feel any emotion hearing him sing this song. Couldn’t agree with more Teddy, I also got sweat in my eyes. The more I played it the more the worse it got and I realised it was actually hay fever. Well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! I’d love him to sing the great James Morrison song. “I won’t let you go.”

I get where he’s coming from, but I love the feeling of watching a singer who seems so beside themselves in the emotion of a song to the point where it’s so intimate for them that it almost feels weird that you’re there.
