She is age 10 here. Her mom objected to the lyrics, so on her way to this rehearsal, she rewrote the lyrics and that was why she had to look at her song sheets while singing. How great that she took something so dark an changed it to LOVE. This is one of my very favorite performances! I wish she would do it again now at age 16!

Angelina did the exact thing of changing the lyrics of Amy Whinehous's You Know I 'm No Good. In her version, it becomes the opposite: I'm So Good. That video, recorded in LA, shows her sister Juliette, uncle Michael, her manager, mama Sara and, behind the camera, grandma Mery. Unfortunately, there exists no published version of the new lyrics. Here, Angelina shows how good ears she possesses: she sounds alot like Amy without imitating or mimicking her. It is her way to salute respectfully and awesomely her kindred spirit by paying a sweet tribute to her idol in singing like her.

At just 10 years old here, Angelina is able to take this familiar song, and recreate it in her own unique way. She really respects the original, but makes it appropriate for her age. Angelina can capture some of the unique qualities in Amy's voice unlike anyone I have heard. You will hear it again with Valerie (or Rehab, or Our Day WIll Come). I don't know anything about the violinist except that he appeared to be in awe of the talent before him. I imagine any musician that has ever worked with Angelina has known that they were working with someone very special. There are many examples where you can just see it on their faces. I have a feeling that violinist will one day be telling his grandchildren about that time he played with Angelina Jordan.

Hey Adam, thanks for another great reaction video. I think the story with the violinist is simply that he was watching her and in awe. He was seated relatively close to her with a clear line of sight and there were long stretches where he wasn’t performing so it was just kind of natural that he be singled out to show the respect that the performers had for Angelina. I don’t personally know of even a rumor that there is any connection between him and her or her family. I completely agree with you about how perfect this song is for Angelina. One of the things that strikes me about this performance is how melodic her it seems to be, despite the song, other than the chorus, being quite monotone. She is able to do so much with her voice that she makes you forget that, for long stretches, she’s singing a single note or maybe two notes at most.
@ginajung62054 жыл бұрын

I don't think it's possible to live in Norway, and NOT know that she is very talented - or at least have heard about her. The musicians in KORK, i'm pretty sure they knew who she is. I think the reaction from the violinguy was just "yeah, i knew she is good....but this is just WOW". Guess many adult musicians in Norway would give their right arm to get the chance to play with KORK. I must have played this song like 5000 times now. Its genius, and specially that calm part with the stringinstruments....it can make me faint.

I watched the violinist at the beginning and my impression is he wondered, "How old is she?" And, "Oh! That tone! This should be interesting!" Another shot of a musician clearly moved by Angelina is the trumpet player in I Put A Spell On You unable to hide a smile during the recording. Adam, try to squeeze in Mr Lonely, a song made famous by Bobby Vinton. There are two versions. One just shows the album cover while she sings and the other shows her performing on stage in front of that Norwegian band which might suit your taste more. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to listen to Bobby Vinton's version first. Adam, ALL of us are starting to grin with a happy smile because we know you are coming close to Bohemian Rhapsody. How in the world have you disciplined yourself to keep away from her MASTERPIECE all this time? Incredible.

She literally rewrote the entire song except for the few words that Adam singled out. And she did it beautifully. But I don’t think she could’ve done that in the car on the way to the studio. I'm really impressed with her timing in this performance. The way the song is structured has some complexity and she doesn't miss a beat despite that fact that it is a rehearsal. I also watched the documentary on her life and death, so sad. I also decided to go back and listen to some of Queen’s music since she has covered them and I am a big fan of Queen and I actually found a couple of Freddie Mercury solos that I would love to see Angelina tackle as I think they would really challenge her and I think they would suite her. One is “love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow “ and the other is “Time Waits For No One” This song was actually recorded in 1986 but was not released until June 2019. Both songs are very emotional. Check them out I would like to know what you and any other fans think. PS I’m really warming up to Aurora. More to come.

Adam, As far as my infos go, after the first take of the song, they all listened to it and every one except AJ said it's ok. AJ, so it is said, crunched up her face and said YUCK. And because AJ seems to have a VERY good und fine feeling for music, they went back and started anew, I think that's where this videos begins. She is stabbing her lyrics with the finger, as if she is grumpy about something. Knowing Angelina´s videos now for 8+ months, I came to understand her body language and her face better. So as a super achiever AJ was not happy, to have to do it a second time. LOL. First off, if you've heard her covers of Adele and Whitney, you know what she is capable of. Now, you need to understand that she was planning on a different presentation of Back to Black, much closer to Amy's representation, but one day before the session her mother stopped her from doing it. To be able to obey her mother, this young girl rewrites the lyrics and arranges its delivery so that the orchestra can coordinate with her. Had she been allowed to do it the way she planned, I believe her version would have even blown Amy fans away. To illustrate my point, listen to her 'Leaked' version of 'I'm Still Holding Out For You' by Baby Fuzz. After the tape was made, very close in presentation to the original song, her mother found one specific line that bothered her greatly. That had to do with her saying she'd keep her head under water (drowning), to show her love for her romantic partner, and her mother didn't want her to present her startling performance to the public. Many have said that they believe it is the most stunning performance of all the songs she has recorded and did mimic Baby Face so very closely. If she ever wants to be Amy, I wouldn't doubt her ability to do it.

Or Oslo - (a nostalgic song written by Angelina (12) on an airplane) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGOrnH6elKijbqs (she is about 12); (and from the same concert you should not miss This is Man's world kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbQaKd9p898gc0 - in both of them please pay attention to the musicians in the first row they are so proud of Angelina, and conductor was surprised when Angelina belted.). I also remember the rehearsal for the concert for Quincy Jones's birthday the orchestra was applauding Angelina.

That was another enjoyable reaction, Adam! Here is a link to a rehearsal of "When You Wish Upon a Star" wherein during the song she adds an octave change that pleasantly surprises one of Sweden's best musicians, Staffan William-Olsson, who is accompanying her on the piano, upon which she's leaning like in the movies. I think you'd enjoy it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGasp55-d8t5aZo

For some additional "context" (including some irrelevant stuff that's just neat to see), you might want to check out the following related videos: * kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4jYlJeGfL9rms0 raw footage of a rehearsal session for the "music video" you just watched (the sound is quite poor, but it's interesting to see, anyway) * kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6qmqZ96pJKqn9U Angelina, et al., in the studio control room, listening to the results of two recorded takes (note, BTW, that the rehearsal and these two takes are all at slightly different speeds) - the second take they listen to is the one used in the final product, except for one flubbed line (a _very_ rare Angelina mistake), which they had to "fix in post" * kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYm7d6iVi51_mdU a Norwegian TV segment (English captions available) including footage shot just before and after "Back to Black" was recorded - it starts at an amusement park but eventually shows her in a car riding to the studio, rifling through pages that presumably contain her rewritten lyrics, then there's a bit of the music video itself, and then shots from the control room where they are listening to the results (as seen in the previous video - in fact, at 38 seconds into the previous video you can see a cameraman who seems to be the one shooting the control room footage seen in this TV segment) * kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4XCgpemgp5jY6M more footage from the amusement park, presumably recorded by her grandmother (some of this appears to be stuff from the TV segment seen from a different perspective) * kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZniVqXVtirKCibM yet more footage from the park (but this time what we are seeing was apparently not in the TV segment [it's a different "splash"])

It has been said that Angelina rewrote the lyrics on the way to the studio.

I heard that it was her mother who told her that she couldn't sing those lyrics but she only rewrote it the day before, which is why she needed the notes in front of her. Another example of her family looking out for her. I've seen a lot of disagreement about what she's actually saying, and a version has been uploaded onto a lyrics site but they sound nothing like what I'm hearing. Interesting. No idea about the violinist.
