She is also the band's designated "manager" because she is the one with organizational skills and remembers all the details like the band has to be here at 1 pm and there at 3pm. And, of course, all under the guidance of an 810 year old pigeon. You could say Miku is very good about delegating authority. At the Echoplex Miku explained Akane was half gorilla and half human. Miku said her evidence for that was the fact that Akane ate bananas every day. She does before shows for the carbohydrates. And she is one of the best pure drummers working anywhere today with an absolutely uncanny sense of rhythm.

I don’t think the “manager” due to organizational skills thing is up to date. Supposedly they don’t work that way anymore. They call her a “mascot” rather than leader nowadays.

I was at two Band-Maid concerts, in both of them I managed to get in the front row one meter from them, Ban Maid plays with a very regulated mixing on the bass and with a great emphasis on the drums, which is really set well, rarely at a concert can you hear such a real drum, Akane is also very good in the settings and gets a really excellent and vintage sound, the kick drum is very heavy but very short, so you can distinguish the incredible bursts that Akane can shoot, and you can feel them inside your body. as soon as the concert starts you can think that Akane is exaggerated and also very invasive, she plays a lot of notes, but then you realize that she really plays the drums, and she doesn't follow the music she makes the music, I think Akane is the soul of the Band-Maid, it is she who creates this incredible wall of sound that brings you back to the old great musicians but with a modern and fresh music, this is wonderful at the concert and fills with enormous emotion as you vibrate under the blows of Akane and the Misa's whirling phrases on bass. If you listen carefully you can understand that Akane often does really absurd things with the kick, real short precise bursts, she does not do it often but I think she can also be faster than many more famous drummers than her, then Akane composes some truly impeccable drumlines for every song, she is also a great arranger.

Between Akane and MISA, they may well have the best back line in the world. The last band with a rhythm section that good was Rush, and they were at their best in the 1980's.

We are a family of musicians, my brother is a drum teacher with recognition from the conservatory of Milan, I play different instruments and make compositions and arrangements, and I can say that Band-Maid are truly incredible, in particular, when my brother discovered that Akane had studied drums for only 4 years before making the first record, he was shocked. And she told me, but where does this girl go? And he can evaluate a drummer, believe me. Akane is at absolute levels, not only for the technique but for the composition of the drumlines.

Akane and Misa both attended Tokyo School of Music TSM (www.tsm.ac.jp/). Misa was brought to Band-Maid by Akane as they needed a Bassist. Akane was brought to the band by Kanami, the lead guitarist.

Kanami has a good highlight video from this same channel, Saiki just got one too. It's a bit harder to do one for Saiki because she doesn't have many "solo" performances. The acoustic stuff she does is great though, gives me goose bumps.

The hardest one to do is Miku... because she is always doing a supporting role whether it’s singing or instrumentals. Her job is to blend and support and let the leads shine.

Saiki is now more and more interacting with the crowds. Best part is during Freedom in 2018 I think where she went into the womens section. You could see her being a little bit cought off guard when rising up, but was held firmly by a staff member and some fans. Lucky women they were.

Akane and MISA played backup band for a lot of bands, You can find some videos of Akane in another jazz fusion band on youtube, and I assume the same thing for MISA since they were in the same music school and playing for someone is good experience for them.
