What you said about comebacks is why baseball is so great. Since it isn't bounded by time, you could theoretically come back from down 100-0 down to your last out. In football or soccer if you're up by a lot with 5 minutes left you know it's over, but in baseball you have to work till the very end every single game.
@Zenon0K4 жыл бұрын
Largest comebacks in baseball history are 12 runs. Tiger vs White Sox in 1911, A's vs Indians in 1925, and Indians vs Mariners in 2001. Indians vs the Mariners is the most famous one because that Mariners team was one of the best regular seasons teams ever, and the Indians scored the final 5 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. By blowing that game, the Mariners wound up loosing the all time wins record and settling for a with the 1906 Chicago Cubs with 116 wins.

Baseball is such an interesting sport. One of the things I find so cool about it is that rare things happen all the time in baseball. That sounds counterintuitive, but because so many games are played, you see rare plays/rare stats pretty regularly. Think of it like this: if something only happens once every hundred games, that means it happens to each team at least once or twice a season on average. It's so different from every other sport because they play tons of games. Some people hate that, I've grown to love it.

You should watch some games, but there are way to many games to watch every one. you should watch some mic'd up videos! They put mics on the players during practice and it's a great way to get to know the players. for example, juan soto, the really cocky guys that stares down pitchers did one. they're really fun to watch!
@Alex-kd5xc4 жыл бұрын
One of the cool things about baseball is that any comeback is possible as long as you can put it together. In football, the opposing team can run the ball and waste the clock. In basketball, you're also working against the clock. In baseball, there is no clock, just a limited amount of outs. You can be down 10 in the last inning and no matter what, the opposing team still has to get you out 3 more times, and as long as you can string together enough runs, you can make a comeback.

In practice, baseball players often spend time doing what are actually called “situations”. A coach will set up all sorts of scenarios and the players will “rehearse” the best options for those situations. In addition, players are always thinking about what they are going to do if X,Y, or Z happens next. Pitchers are actually the most likely to make an incorrect decision during a play, because they are focused on executing each pitch and may not have had time to consider so many possible upcoming events.

One of the things with baseball is you can always come back. Because baseball has no clock you can always come back from any deficit and any point in the game. One common phrase is that baseball has no clock but to have 27 outs to work with. So until you have gotten out 27 times you can always come back. I believe the largest comeback ever was 12 runs. Baseball having no clock can also lead to crazy scores teams have scored 30 runs before although it’s rare.

I'm a Red Sox fan so I'm biased but I'd say the biggest comeback was the 2004 Red Sox vs the Yankees in the ALCS (the series right before World Series). It's a best of 7 series and the Yankees won the first three. The Red Sox barely won Game 4 (tied it in the 9th inning and won in the 12th iirc), then won the final 3 games to win the series and they went on to win their first World Series in 86 years.
