A killer concept for the next doctor who companion. An actual toddler. We know the doctor speaks baby. And in Capaldi's last monologue, he tells us that the only ones who can understand the doctors name are children. So i theorised that time lord language is actually baby. Its why we speak it inherently upon birth(we are long descendants of time lords). So the doctor gets a toddler. And thats how we finally learn his name. "GOO-GOO-GAA-GAA"

5:07 I call them "Book hangovers." there are times were the immersion of the book's story and the world as a whole has you drunk on the happenings there in that breaking for it is nearly painful. it's one of those factors that drive the inertia of a good page-turning book. Those books can spark the embers of that midnight fire to life and keep you from going to bed. when you know you should be sleeping! but compromising until you reach a point of something akin to satisfaction but not quite. the voracious nature of devouring a good story that hits all the right notes can only be temporarily brought to a lull. as satiation was never meant to last. it's only a means to bide your time until that book or series is brought to an end. This is why long book series are a danger to us all. to spend more than 4 books in a world is to become a citizen in it. you've paid your dues. that is the liquor in your mouth. but what comes after...the hangover is a loss of that. the consequence of your reckless self-indulgence is the pain

I hate how at family parties where no one would normally talk to me get mad when I pick up my notebook to write my script or when I read a book. Phones are ok and not rude when everyone does it, but god forbid, a notebook or best selling novel is rude. There was a wedding reception for my cousin for those who could not be at her wedding. She had no interest in speaking to me the entire night and as soon as i opened my notebook, “hey, i did not get the chance to talk to you, how are you doing? Then my aunt ( her mom) you need to put that away. If someone is introverted and gets drained from socializing and knows everyone wants to talk to someone other than you should just let someone do their thing. It does not matter. It doesn’t harm anyone. Sometimes I take those things out because that is what starts the conversation.

Who cares if eBooks don't smell like books? You can set whatever font face, font size, font color, background color, line spacing, margin size, indentation, etc that you want, if you use Calibre to manage your library you can choose whatever cover you want (instead of having to buy a new edition if a cool new cover you want comes out), you can customize the header and footer, toggle between your settings and publisher style, and carry around an entire library that weighs less than half a pound instead of having your house taken over by bookshelves and having to lug around 50+ pound boxes of books when you move >_> As someone who was born legally blind, eBooks have been a godsend.

I prefer audiobooks since I have to use text to speech either way with e-books. Have you tried using NLS bard? If not, I recommend it.
@praetorxyn3 жыл бұрын
@@fernandoavila3929 On the NLS BARD, not in that form. Throughout K-12 I had a case worker from my state's Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and I remember one of them getting me these books on tape in green boxes once that might have been from the Library of Congress but I never tried them. I have not really tried audio books, as I want an eBook copy and I'm not going to buy the book twice just to try an audio book out. My vision is 20/200in my good eye, and I can make the font comfortable in eBooks, set the font to white Roboto and the background to black, etc, so I don't have issues reading them. I am not sure I could take in info from audio books. I can't drive, and a lot of people listen to them while driving. I think it would bore me to just sit on the couch and listen to them. And based on my experience listening to podcasts and KZbin videos while working or doing other things, I get easily distracted and would probably struggle to follow an audio book.

In regards to the throwing-away-the-movie-cover-book meme: These two characters are friends who have a flat together in the city. In the beginning of this episode (and I don't remember exactly how this comes about), they make a bet with their millionaire friend that living in the suburbs would be way easier than living in the city. That friend then rents out a house for the two guys in the burbs and tells them that if they can live just ONE month there without giving up, he would buy them that house. They consider it an easy challenge, but it turns out they can't stand anything about this quiet life; this is a comedy show, so everything is majorly exaggerated for comedic effect. The scene in this meme is late on in the month, where the guy on the right is sick of the guy on the left's ONLY meal that he makes (instant mac n cheese), and so throws the plate away in disgust.

Am I the only weirdo who actually prefers digital books instead of real life ones? Like before I could only hoard a little bit of books and had no free space. A few thousand books and suddenly there is no space for anything anywhere. And now I could hoard ALL the books while having all the free space and the books are cheaper digital and I could read them from morning until next morning morning without having to get up and care for things like daylight and I don't have to throw any books away I just need to uninstall them and then if I ever need to read them again I could get them back anytime. There are just so many plus sides that the one downside of not having a tangible physical book in your hands that smells like a book is just not worth it.

I had to have surgery several years back, and while I was recovering I stayed with my mom. I took a bunch of books with me, cause I knew I wouldn't be able to move around much, and I was looking forward to having all this reading time. I didn't get to read a single book, because every time I picked one up, my mom would start talking to me. I mentioned it to her a few years later, and her response was that when she saw me pick up a book, she thought it meant I "didn't have anything else to do, and must be bored", so she was trying to be kind. It was shocking to me to realize that she didn't get that reading a book was "something to do", and not a last resort when nothing else was available.

My teachers used to struggle with me because I would read in class. I knew what was going on and they were happy I was reading, so they didn’t want to discourage me. There was a lot of conversations after class until I learned to read in my desk

Regarding slow books (as it is a perfect excuse for a little rant): I finally got myself to a long overdue of LoTR, which I read while being way to young for it. And... my heart is broken... but IT IS STILL SOO SLOW SOMETIMES! Some chapters I breeze through, and then we stumble upon a paraghraph-long sentence about a river. One, uninterrupted sentence, wich was basically the author flashing his ability to list as many synonyms to word "flow" as possible. Aaaargh.

And regarding Undulating - you ruined the perfectly fine world for me, now I see it everywhere, what have you done?? ;) And before I didn't even know it existed (I'm not native, and I'm not bothered if I don't understand a world here and there in EN book).

Wait, there is someone called Walternate Bishop? Uwu! Don't take anything he's saying too seriously. He's on drugs anyway. If you aren't careful he's gonna drug you, too!

1:58 relatable. RELATABLE. I do this...allot. They may be fictional, but they're also real, and when I love them and no one else seems to get it, I just have to turn defense attorney, okay? Even if it's only in a word document no one else will ever read. U_U

You correcting the LotR meme about Frodo's age - thank you so much, that was me internally the entire time and I felt very validated
