It's even more surprising given people claim AOT is so bad and she loves it. Even her other tubers didnt like it at first and she loves it. Though i'll say she's better at acclimating to anime. People who resist it think American live action subtle emotions = best but sometimes AOT works. Also AOT later on is westernized for better or worst acting wise. Also happy she likes a season people hated, which is now reloved on hindsight. Sad the author had to truncate it just to appease fans as they hated this and it was all story and they called it filler.

@@danielcastaneda4975 I think this is the issue with AOT, it's not written to have a good and bad objective or subjective slide towards objective. It's the power levels of storytelling. Sure some points are clear but your not supposed to come out saying this was the good guy and bad guy. It's why i think people didnt get the ending (besides a few over stated and under stated pacing issues and well lets face it people are human and it was his first story good or great for that matter) People wanted something they were never gonna get. He developed a story about something humanity today still hasnt fixed. Even if every single ill willed person passed away in an instant someone would grow thinking they are better than someone else by nature and grow that hate. How do people think clicks and groups evolve in highschool a microcosm of life. We never leave highschool...but we can momentarily improve it. Violence, hate, etc. all fixed by love for each other. Something humans have trouble completely doing. The show explains some of this but it's obvious yet people miss it, since hey alot of viewers no offense are stuck in the forest of hatred

@@TheAngryMontagecould you expand on that? I get the argument that rod believed the royal family holding the founding titan was for the best, but it really doesn't seem like he ever learned any of the secrets the inheritors of the titan learned, based on his flashback where him and his brother tell uri to get rid of the titans. Also if this truly was his conviction, rod could've inherited the titan himself rather than forcing historia to bare the burden
@nathannava9699Ай бұрын
@@silverknight6262 The way I take it is that he saw his close family members(who all also wanted to wipe out the titans) inherit the First King's Will and the memories of the world, to then decide to keep the cycle going despite being so empathetic and down to earth. After following his brother and Frieda, seeing their omnipotent power and goodwill he starts to worship them and become religiously devout, and believes that they know what's best for humanity even if he doesn't understand or know what the memories contain. He doesn't want to inherit the Titan himself because he sees it as his duty as a follower to bring back God to guide him and humanity as a whole, rather than becoming God himself.
@silverknight6262Ай бұрын
@@nathannava9699 that's interesting, I agree with your first point but have never considered your second. I interpret rods actions as more selfish since he never had any concern for historia until his whole family was dead and he had no one else to inherit the FT. It is on purpose. Idk where its at in the manga, but in season1. Grisha says to Eren (in a flashback to that forest scene) "You must learn to master this power!" As he injects him and allows Eren to eat him to gain the "Coordinate". Thats not a spoiler, since its in season 1 and elaborated on here. Also I really wonder why no one seems to realise that Grisha is simply lying that "He doesnt remember" lol. Or even consider that possibility. He simply doesnt want to talk about who he is or where hes from. So the "i dont remember" is just an easy answer to tell people with prying questions.

This is what i was thinking. Like who is defending Rod Reiss
@acendiatmedia8747Ай бұрын
I never see his personal life defended but it's valid to ask if he was trying to do good and if what he was doing would have had a better outcome. Clearly he cared more about getting the founding titan back more than he was a coward. He took the syrum after all and he wasn't wrong that he shouldn't become a Titan and it's unlikely he got that idea himself. It seams like he was passed over to take the titan. Seams weird that his father and brother where just fine with him dodging it. Many of the questions about Rods motives are directly from Kenny who doesn't really have allot of credibility or reason to know. Remember the end and ask yourself what happens with Historia as founder? No one in this story is a good person and Rods failings aren't all that egregious. Just because he in opposition to the protagonists isn't a very good reason to hate him in this story.
@ramzes2624Ай бұрын
@@acendiatmedia8747 I don't have strong feelings towards Rod personally. But he did run away while his family was killed, and he only ended up as a messed up Pure Titan because the way he ingested the serum, there's no reason to believe he was privy to any special information or that he was special and that's why he turned up as a messed up Pure Titan. So it seems to me he rationalized that he should not be the one to become the Founding Titan because he was the one overseeing the transition from host to host. But I think he only took this role because he was scared of becoming the host himself. I don't think he was malevolent and I think he cared about humanity, but I do think he is supposed to have cowardliness as a core character flaw.

When he was young he and his younger brother Uri begged their father to kill the titans and free humanity but he refused them. Then Uri told Rod to count on him before taking the Founding Titan but he still broke his promise. THEN Freida promised him that she won't fall into the family curse but she also failed. And if he is from inside the walls and somehow managed to get outside the walls he probably wouldn't want to reveal that either, since we have seen other scenes with people being killed for trying to go outside (the couple in the hot air balloon) I wouldn't just take his word as fact when this whole arc (and series so far, one could aruge) is based on deception of the general public within the walls...
@alexinator-hh5feАй бұрын
I absolutely loved that even though she isn't in this arc, Ymir's words are what gave Historia the will to rebel. She's always been forced into roles. Frieda loved her but she pushed her to become more proper and polite(Frieda became super aggressive and upset when Historia tried exploring outside the fence, which is definitely an allegory for not leaving the walls as people exploring and getting too close to the truth is seemingly what the first king doesn’t want), Rod forced her to become Krista, her mother rejected her existence. All the people who should've had her back either used her, didn't care for her, tried influencing her, or all of the above. But Ymir was one of the few people who gave Historia a choice. Who allowed her to be herself and genuinely made her happy. Ymir being so important to Historia is why I didn't like that the anime cut out Historia's breakdown after she was taken. As for Rod, he's definitely interesting to me. He's absolutely manipulative. But I really like the flashback Historia sees about Rod after dealing the final blow because that small moment adds a lot to his character. In the flashback we see that Rod was a lot like Eren as a kid. He was ambitious, and genuinely wanted humanity to be free from the titans. But despite his years of begging his father, nothing changed. Then when his brother Uri gained the power, he was convinced that he could do it, but that didn't work out either. And even Frieda, who genuinely looked like she wanted to fix things changed once she obtained the power. And Rod seemed to slowly admit defeat and just accept that that's how things were meant to be. He began to lose hope. Until he became a broken shell of who he once was. I do think a small part of him was hoping that Historia would be the one to help fix things, but he definitely was only telling her information that would be beneficial for himself. After so many years of people becoming like the First King, he accepted that even with all the power in the world, the Royal family was still bound by chains to a will they couldn't resist. And if that will thought it knew best for humanity, he would be there to aid them.
