Just like you i have been waiting all those hours with boats, a spooky horserider, a not so impressive Lady gaga… until that very end.. The newest rumour on facebook was that she was gonna sing this song! So when i heard that music i already knew.. Celine!!!! Just like you i was sucked into my tvscreen to experience the whole extraordinary thing.. Celine looked like royalty with her excuisite dress our Queen Celine deserves!! She did it, her voice was flawless, matured, emotional. Her gestures powerful and soo Celine! She was the reigning Queen triumphing over Paris on the biggest worldstage ever. On the Eiffeltower!!! Just like you i was sooo moved by this performance. Impeccable, sooo powerful, soo graceful and grand! And it made me think of Evita Peron singing to the people of Argentina. Her hair like Evita, her dark make up that added to the grandeur, that beautiful majestic dress! What thoughts would have gone through her mind. Everything after working so hard to a comeback has lead to this moment. They gave her the number 1 moment by ending the ceremony and opening the Olympic Games. Wow just wow.

@@GilbertGTVHi Gilbert! I don't think that people praise Céline less that the others you refured... at least outside the USA. What you said about "the world finally" this and that, I think you mean in the USA, because at least in Europe, she always hs been bigger that Mariah or Whitney and even more than La Belle. In Europe there's not that competition about who's better or worse, so, when I say that she has been always bigger I'm talking about appreciation or revelance.

I learned French as a teenager. The song she sang is called ‘L’Hymme d’amour’ by Edith Piaf. To be asked to sing Edith Piaf is an honor in itself. The song is a love song called ‘The Love Hymn’. It was written by Edith Piaf for her husband and it’s about hope in the face of adversity. Edith Piaf is a legend. There’s never been a more appropriate piece of music for her to sing in this moment.

Merci de le préciser parce que si Céline est émue c'est aussi parce que les paroles de cette chanson d'amour lui font penser à tous ceux qu'elle aime. " Dieu réuni ceux qui s'aiment" c'est un message d'amour envoyé au monde

I also commented on Edith, because when I heard the opening, it killed me. What an honor to sing that song by "The Little Bird", who also fought to sing with debilitating rheumatoid arthritis & liver cancer. I'm American & don't speak French, but Edith Piaf & her story & journey is Epic & so is Celine.

I assumed it was playback while watching it because of the jaw wobbles etc that she does when overcompensating for that, but i don't know and if it was thats completely understandable - the fact that shes even there at all is amazing. There was no nasal, no grit, no “Water and a Flame” smokiness (basically the sound of most of Courage.) These were the RICH, rested, clean, whole, hydrated, heavy, solid, pristine Celine vocals we have been used to in the 90’s and early 2000’s! Absolutely! She sounded INCREDIBLE! It would be pretty hard to beat this performance or to find an audience or stage of this Granduer!!!! I am Canadian and a huge fan of Celine Dion. I have seen her several times prior to becoming world famous in a smaller venue and I can tell you she has never lost her voice. She has stayed true to who she is and adores her fans. Her voice is actually better now since the diagnosis since she knows how to manage it and has helped her alot. She sang the same song "Hymne a l'amour" at he 2015 AMA's and you could tell her condition affected her performance. This performance at the Paris Olympics was perfection and she is back....

Thank you for sharing! I am a long time fan of our Queen Celine and wept like a baby when she appeared! I am thrilled for her!! Such a moment! Celine serenaded Paris and the world! The moment I heard that first note of that beautiful song I knew she was about to appear! She put every ounce of emotion into that performance and we are grateful for it! And don’t bother with the haters! They just don’t know!! I celebrate with the lovers!! Thank you Gilbert!!!

I’ve always said it over and over again. Celine never got her flowers. She’s breaking records left and right. She is the greatest singer of our generation. She can sing any style of music with ease. And if I must say, her team / record company not doing her any good either. They have so many songs already recorded, sitting In a vault collecting dust. Why don’t they release them ? Great reaction btw.

I understood......... Our diva Ms.Celine Dion performed breathtaking singing on stage at the Eiffel Tower🗼. I amazed about her figure....she just like a goddess. The scine of our diva Ms.Celine Dion is best for me in the opening ceremony of Paris Olympic. Oops! .......I can't tell this opinion for some notice..... ............Sincerely....... Loved your reaction - I was the same: freaking out and bawling my eyes out! What a performance... So strong and confident - and that voice... EPIC! If after a couple of years you don't remember a lot from the opening ceremony, you will definitely remember this performance! Celine is this one in a million singer who has it all - the voice, the stage presence, the energy, the emotion. Whatever she is peerforming, she is that specific song in that specific moment and she makes you feel it! This performance was epic!

I’m from Toronto. In the summer of 1990, when her first English album had been out for a while, I worked at a record store as my summer job. My manager went to see Celine Dion perform at an outdoor venue (it was Ontario Place). Anyway I recall during a shift some day afterwards he was talking about the show, and to this day I still remember him saying “but yeah, she has a wicked voice”…..”I think by the time her next album comes out, she’s gonna be a big star”. I keep thinking of that conversation every time a moment like this happens. Understatement of a generation, Dave!

Hi Gilbert. Like you I sat and watched the whole opening ceremonies just so I didn’t miss Céline. Wow! That’s all I can say. I sat in my chair tears streaming down my face. If that doesn’t cement her place at the top of the echelon of singers I don’t know what will. I guessed what song she would sing and figured she would be at the end but the way they staged it on the Eiffel Tower was more than I could imagine. Sublime. I also loved how her pianist kept smiling at her. Everyone is so proud. As a fellow Canadian I am always so proud of this classy lady. I do have a prediction. I think this performance will earn her an Emmy for best live musical performance. If it doesn’t it should. If she never sings again I am so happy for her at this accomplishment. She looked like an absolute Angel. That dress was so beautiful! I’ve been watching for your take on this since it happened. Thanks for never disappointing on your reviews.

Congrats my love Celine. Your heart will definitely go on! Bc you’re forever a strong lady ….i am part Canadian speak no French . But love the singing. Love her new song. Her Dior white gown was gorgeous,…She was the perfectionist best heroine of Canada! Canadas pride Celine Dion Victorious once more ,tears streaming down my face…when everyone heard she’d never sing again. Not a dry eye there. Celine you did the work, you did the it the lit up Eiffel Tower is as magnificent as the rest of the show! Now this is heartwarming and heartbreaking! Heartbreaking all the nights in pain all the excercises meds…. Now she’s home! It’s ok man Everyone else is crying too. Think of us Canadians !

I thought from the moment I saw that Celine was in Paris, and the only thing that made sense to me was that Celine would sing at the very moment when the Olympic flame was lit, from the Eiffel Tower, when the eyes of the whole wirld were wide open. What a triumph of life, love, strength, will, desire, devotion, perseverance. What a woman... Merciiiiii ! 🏆🫶🙏 The best Céline It's a miracle to see her sing after being struck by this rare disease... What a joy to see her resplendent, efficient, charismatic and in better shape!!! A force of nature, a fighter, a model of determination and an immensely human and humble fiber. A life lesson for many other artists and public figures. In short, who has not been moved by such an interpretation? It's masterful. Queen Céline 👑 !!! Thank you for paying tribute to her, you know how to do it so well 🎶🙏🫶 Quebec fan

I am still sobbing everytime i see snippets of this performance...and seems to me like Celine blew up the internet because she is EVERYWHERE and i love it, if anyone deserves this it is Celine Dion. GOAT As i have said in my Facebook post, we have been waiting for four years, and this is what she gave us. The best gift i have ever received and i am so happy to see that prayers and God, and her will power and strenght can do. Thank you Celine, you are the Queen of my life and the Queen of music.
