Appreciate what you said at the end Seb. I feel like there's a lot of gatekeepers in the weightlifting community, especially compared to other strength sports. If I was a powerlifter who didn't compete, no one would say anything. Why is it that there's always this heated discussion about drug use, anti-doping, and the state of weightlifting whenever I'm mentioned when the likes of Tian Tao, Lasha, and 70% of people who you cover on your show are actively breaking the rules of anti-doping and competing while being on drugs? Why don't I see hatred towards those lifters? I'm not saying people should like me, but they should at least be consistent with their anti-doping beliefs. I have never broken the rules, while people praise Russian weightlifters who were part of state-sponsored doping and broke anti-doping rules several times.

To say a person is not a weightlifter because he or she doesn't compete is a mentality I don't think I've heard for other sports/hobbies. No one says a person who skateboards isn't a skateboarder just because they don't compete. No one says a person isn't a musician just because they don't compete (or even record or perform publicly). It's just a matter of doing the activity involved with some consistency. Gatekeeping on the grounds of whether the person competes just sounds like some elitist nonsense and especially seems absurd when talking about a person doing elite level lifts like Clarence.
