The snatch looks well below true max, but then a perfect snatch from a supreme technician always would. The C&J looks closer to his max (the 267 from last year looked like a true max, but I'm no expert). As it stands right now I would bet he's got 3-5 more kg in the snatch and 2-4 in the C&J.

I think Lasha is capable of 227.5 kg snatch now. I think he can clean 272.5 kg, but due to his long arms, I'm not convinced by his 260+ kg jerks that he's quite ready for jerking that weight yet. I hope he is by the time the Olympics come. It would be incredible if he could total 500 kg while also performing the first 500 lbs snatch and 600 lbs C&J!

I think Lasha is a great example for a lifter who never truly goes up to and beyond his limit, which results in his lifts looking very easy for the most part. In my opinion he could have done even more than 258 kilo at the Rio Olympics and from the looks of it he could have done more at every other World Championship as well. Since there was no threat to him at all, he didn't do it. This is really clever training programming and attempt selection by his coach. Rather than chasing the highest possible weight at any given championship, he does what it takes to win and progresses steady at his own pace. I am fairly certain that he will eventually hit a 500 kilo total during his career.

I feel his 223 snatch looked smoother than all his 220 ones. His 265 CJ, his clean at 260+ has gotten smoother. He is catching the 265 higher than his 264 in 2019, and he is able to stand up from the bottom position right after the catch. I feel Lasha could do 225-226 snatch and 267-269 CJ at this point.

I do and don’t care if Lasha was to make 500. I care because how wouldn’t anyone barely interested in weightlifting like to see that? Lasha has and is already blowing minds on a regular basis and is the Tiger Woods of his sport but 500..? “Legendary” isn’t really a strong enough word (no pun intended). It would be god-like. It’s easy to understand why he’d chase that total. Can he make it? Who knows. I think he’s gonna give it an awfully good try and right now I am believer. 2021-2022 seasons are going to be pivotal I think and I can’t wait for Europeans and the Olympics. The Europeans is a dress rehearsal and warm up competition for the Olympics. The first and most important goal for Lasha and his team will be to ensure that he stands on top of the Olympic podium with a gold medal and the Georgian flag. What he lifts to achieve this will be secondary. It would be silly to risk injury trying to lift beyond his best in the Euros. Probably 1kg more than his snatch world record in Euros and maybe 1kg more in the jerk if things are going well. As a somewhat better snatcher his Olympic strategy will be maximize his lead going into the jerk, this will mean something like 212-215, 217-220, 220-223, he will then look to get a good strong opening jerk, win with his second attempt and have the third attempt spare. That would be the time to expand his world records if he has the ability on the day.

The problem with the heavyweight champion now is, there no one to challenge him, even, a Russian, yeah, because of drug testing. This guy is not clean, he is protected by the IWF. Not even an American can challenge him. So sad. This guy, according to his track record, is a snatch machine. He has to prove he can clean and jerk more, or, maybe that's his weak point. He should have done 600lb clean and jerk by now. No excuse, he is European. If it wasn't for the strict drug testing, the Russians would have Clean and Jerk 600lbs. by now. Right now, Olympic Weightlifting is small, so much drama going on, they continue, we will not see Olympic Weightlifting at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Why is weightlifting so cooooool. Also this channel is fantastic, it’s like a having a chat with my buddies. Lasha is a living legend! Would love to see you discuss some of Angel Genchev’s lifts. I do believe he is underrated. I think he is the heaviest man to cnj 3 times his bodyweight at 67.5kg. There is a video of him snatching 170kg at 75kg bw. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mILIeo2hfqibhdU

I watched the 223 downloaded on quick time, sent it to Alex to edit, he then added the comments from the actual IG video onto the side to make it look like the IG video. In between those two things happening I commented ;)

after 2021 we have 492kg! (225/267) So, I think 2022 European - 227/268/495 and all next competitions will be opportunities to try 500kg or more. P.S. sorry Naim, but after Oly 2024 Lasha will become The G.O.A.T.

Europeans he will play it safe: 220 + 260. Tokyo: I'd love to see 222 + 268. IMO that will leave any doubt he is the best SH of all time.

Lasha could walk out, win gold with his openers, break world records with his 2nd attempt and aim for 500 with his 3rd attempts. Personally I think a 494 is more realistic with something like 227:267. Even if he doesn’t give us a 500 total, he can give us the first ever 500lb snatch no question

He actually annoyed me in the snatch in 2019. I feel like he couldve easily got 230 kg then. C&J he's getting towards his max imo. Absolutely can get 500kg but the question with these superstars is will they take the risk and go for records or play it safe for a medal. Rezazadeh annoyed me when he won gold. I thought he could beat Tarenenkos 266 tournament record but he did that infuriating 1 kg increase to secure the gold which is the end goal. But that's why I like the Chinese team. They start off heavier than anyone else and still have impressive jumps in weight for each lift.

Well, the total record and the snatch record went at the Europeans . . done by our man of course. To my eyes he didn't look physically peaked, which is good news for us guys hoping to see a 227.5kg snatch and a 272.5kg clean and jerk at the Olympics. I think the whole weightlifting world would be behind him in his quest. He didn't make a big deal over the records he set at the European meet. Obviously his eyes are on the future.

230 seems a bit far off, a lot of people are gonna hate me for this but I don’t think Lasha can do 230, I might be wrong though. He’s progressed a lot but he missed 222 one year and got 223 the next. I feel like the reason he makes these lifts so easy is because he’s consistent with all his lifts whether they be his max attempt or 60% of it. Yet I still wanna see the impossible 500kg total. Let’s gooooo
