3:03 its not really Toriyama trying to rip off Jojo. Actually. Hirohiko Araki (the author of Jojo's) cited Toriyama as one of his inspirations, and when Araki started, he was getting a real bad time getting into any of the anime magazines. He was about to give up, and it was Toriyama who ended up giving Araki some pointers and a reccomendation for Shonnen Jump. The manga for Jojo's started around 1987-8. And dragon ball started in 1984-5. Keep in mind that by the time Dragon Ball started, Akira Toriyama was already a millionaire and a very recognized mangaka, with the manga of "Dr Slump". Dragon ball was basically a side project that brought him from being a legend in Japan, to being a legend in the rest of the world. The Ginyu force is inspired by Super Sentai, which we would later on know as power rangers over here. And super sentai is from the 70's. Our power rangers started as us spliciing the videos from japan, and we started by splicing Super Sentai: Jyuranger, which is the 15th edition of super sentai. Very late.

Correct, but in his defense Freeza didn't make his debut in the manga till 1989 meaning the Ginyus were introduced in 1990, three years after JoJo started and Part 3 was just getting going

When this air'd on Toonami, they didn't have all the Dub's.. They would get to this episode and then the next day it starts all over with Radditz coming to earth.. and that's how it went for about 4 cycles, the biggest hype was when Toonami finally got the rights to broadcast the rest of the series

Considering that they react, like many others, to copyrighted content, creating long pauses is important, between the talking and the commercial break, you get nice pauses like that. Plus, people just skip the intro and the end, so those are the worst places to do plugs.

I am your-" "HEY GUYS, BE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE!" "-father." Or something similar. When it's just randomly thrown in, it cuts off the flow. Heck, there were several places in this episode which a cutaway could have worked. Such as the "did we time that commercial right or what?" It's little things like that which makes it pleasant for the viewers.

Seriously, Dragon Ball is like the very first shonen genre that ever came out from the beginning in the manga's history, or at least the very first to become a worldwide success...it just can't have been inspired from Jojo. Even Kenshiro which is a very old one too didn't even come close to what Dragon Ball has been known for since the mid 80's...only Pokemon has managed to get more successful than it used to be since the end of the 90's, basically (or early 2000's, actually).
