"It constantly flips between being the most traumatic thing ever, and being hilarious, and I never know what to feel." The perfect description of the Fallout games.

I feel Maximus' motivation is explained by the *_BIG METAL BOX_* theory. Basically, all he wants is to feel safe. It all started with the big bomb and he hid in the fridge to survive. Since that *_BIG METAL BOX_* , he's been constantly searching for the next *_BIG METAL BOX_* to help him feel safe. After the fridge, his focus shifted to the Brotherhood, when he saw the knight and their power armor - which at the end of the day, is ultimately just fancy *_BIG METAL BOX_* . And now, it's shifted to the Vault - the biggest *_BIG METAL BOX_* of them all. 😁😁

Yeah, his main obstacle seems to be that he's always a victim of circumstance, and can't/won't take control. He keeps being forced to make choices in response to things, not directing his own life.

@RaptorNX01Ай бұрын
So, it wasn't in the edit, but the opening shots of Erik Estrada and the other guy "farming lead". the music playing was another rendition of the fallout theme. also the armor they were wearing is a perfectly done recreation of the "Ranger" armor from New Vegas, infact, its the same one shown on the cover and menu art for the game. AND something that i haven't seen anyone call out in a reaction, the exterior of the shack they go into, is a perfect, one to one recreation of shacks you find all across fallout 3 and new vegas (esp new vegas). armor is one thing, but thats a whole new level of dedication for me. I just thought it was so cool they did that.

I recommend the Legend of Vox Machina as another series to watch. Different genre, (animated sword and sorcery), but like Fallout the show deftly switches between the absurd and the serious; moments of hilarity and poignantly touching. It's based on a Dungeons and Dragons campaign that friends put together, and the players voice their characters in the show. Also like Fallout the show does from the video game, it distills a lot of what D&D games feel like and bringsnit to the screen. If you liked the D&D movie, you'll like Vox Machina.

Vault four was probably the best place lucy went to and, I like you fell into the "trap" of thinking they were evil. Of course Max as usual does not think first before acting. IMO Norm did not poison the prisoners, he was clearly surprised. It was probably Betty and/or Steph , the prisoners were no longer a needed distraction. They will see 32 again during the triannual trade. Love the direct game reference when Norm hacks the computer, the exact mini game from the game. You can catch more on rewatch, in episode two the "doctor" offers to cure Wizigs foot, imagine how that would have changed the story.
@theaikidokaАй бұрын
Well, it's a trap inasmuch as the show is trying hard to make you believe they are so that the joke is funnier when they aren't. Falling for it is kind of the point.

its also a reference to a small segment of fans of fallout 3 (and i think 4 as well) that were very vocal in their hatred for some of the radio stations that played just classical music. if i'm not mistaken there was even some woman in fallout 3 who had her own little radio station with a very limited range that was supposed to be just her playing a violin and there was a quest attached to her. and some hated it with a passion.

🤔In high level fiction, there's the interwoven plot lines, character development, action, & humor. There's also critical meta: [5:08] "I'm not a Kǿm-yew-nist, Mr. Howard. That's just a dirty word they use to describe people who aren't insane." 🤨 👉Talking over, and missing, the most impactful lines. Sigh. Yes. This series is sometimes absurdly funny. 😂👍 Yes. Maybe. But they are reactors. Not watchers. They HAVE to have a certain amount of talk and back-and-forth - what's the point of just watching two people quietly watching a show? A lot of people seem to complain about reactors actually reacting to what they're watching, it's a very odd mindset.

@@stephenhumphreys9149Thank you. So many don't get how reaction channels are supposed to function or believe they should be exactly like other reaction channels they watch. Honestly, I don't get why they attract so many people that think they are entitled to talk down to them while telling them how to run their channel. I get that fans like certain lines, but just because they find something "the most impactful" does not mean that others do as well. I have heard the lines some are complaining about them missing, but most are expected in the story and similar things have been said in other media so they are not that impressive even if nice for the story. I just wish they realized that everyone that watches something does not have to have the same feelings they do.

“Strange, culty behavior” has always been a part of Fallout lore. Heck, a major faction from the games they haven’t shown in this series is the “Children of Atom” - cultists who actually worship the radiation bathing the post-nuclear world they live in.

If you think about it, Moldaver seems to have a theme. Her old-world 'meeting' that Cooper attended also had overtones that seemed like a cult of personality. In my opinion, the best lines the whole season were Norm (of all people) telling Chet "You're a coward", and Chet replying "We all are Norm, that's why we live in a vault." It was like a mike-drop moment that other reactors noted and reacted to. Unfortunately, these two were chatting away and missed it. It happens. They're important lines because their character arcs are going to take them both from cowards to likely heroes.
