She does actually talk perfectly normal right after a concert. I met the band after a concert with a backstage pass and there's no indication at all that she had just been growling for over an hour.

Trying to use the vocal cords will always hurt, instead people learn to take a sort of low humming sound deep in the throat with the false vocal cords aka vestibular folds and slowly make it more powerful and shape it into words through years of practice. A lot of people talk about her talent and she has a lot of talent. But what I admire is how hard she's worked. Same for all of them.
@tobimobiv1

This is so true. Talent will amount to nothing without hard work. And it's not like she's born with it.
@Bassalicious

Exactly. I really dislike the word "talent". If you're passionate enough to put years and years of constructive practice into any craft you will excel eventually. Passion and work, that's pretty much it.

She is using what are called "false vocal folds" which are above the actual vocal chords. So when she growls she's not using her vocal chords. It's a very difficult technique to learn but it doesn't damage her voice at all since the vocal chords are completely open when she does it. A good list of songs would be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air festival Who is going to be the one live Wallflower official video Vortex official video I speak Astronomy official video Captain Clock live at Ressurection fest Home Back official video (very much about the wars in Ukraine) Outlander Sit Stay roll Over Judgement and Punishment one take vocal Retrospection official video or live Mediator official video On the Top

So heart broken by what the Ukrainian people are suffering through. Hope the war ends soon. This is such a great song. Tatiana's vocal transitions are incredible. So seamless. She is a beauty & vocal beast. The whole band is so skilled. Thier songs get better as you understand the meaning behind the lyrics. This might be my favorite. The intensity and stage presents Tatiana has is so captivating. I suggest having the lyrics to refer too during your reactions to Jinjer. Yes Tatiana has trained her voice to do the grawls without damage. She is mostly using her false vocal cords for the grawls. I loved how stunned you looked during that. Its Fantastic

Watch Tatiana's interview with the Charismatic Voice - that will answer most of your questions about how she growls. But when it comes down to it, Tatiana doesn't know exactly what she is doing (anatomy-wise). She just knows that what she is doing doesn't hurt.

she growls as great as Anselmo then sings like an angel a second later....Jinjer has never put out a bad song.....jump in the rabbit hole. The whole band is fire. On the newest record, I read that Vlade wrote most of the music. Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and she takes a "Maynard style" approach and writes the lyrics after the songs are composed. She is so talented , I never get tired of listening to her, ever.

Tatianas growl technique is known as false fold vocal growling it's how she can do that naturally and it isnt damaging to the vocal cords. Switching isn't dififcult as its made out its two separate parts of the vocal chord system

Okay, so she's doing her (deep belly) guttural growl by engaging it through her false folds (chords) which allows her to do it safely but also much clearer than most who do that, while also making the switches far easier for her as well since she's essentially already engaged with her chords and is just moving the placement of her breath and sound further up into her actual chords and then back down as needed. If that makes sense?? Hopefully helps?? 😁

I had such a blast watching your reaction, and I can’t wait to check out whichever Jinjer song you react to next! (As that goes, I think “Perennial” (live) or “Who’s Gonna Be the One” (also live) could be just the ticket!) And if it may help at all for the pronunciation of “growl,” you might try thinking of “prowl”-but with a “g” at the beginning (instead of the “p”). Alternately, you might think of “howl”-but with a “gr” at the beginning (instead of the “h”).

So, people keep on recommending their favorite songs. But I feel that you are like me and are blown away by the talent but aren't a huge fan of the music. Also you want to see her vocal talent up close. There is a video called "Jinjer - Judgement (& punishment) vocal one take" it's an amazing sample of everything she can do, and it's up close and no effects on her voice or backing vocals.

Nice reaction Samantha! Let me share some basics. They are pronounced 'ginger' The harsh voice Tatiana is performing is called growl or fry scream depending on the tone. Yes there is a healthy way to do it without causing problems to your vocal cords. Please don't try it before you watch some masterclasses. Tatiana writes most of Jinjer's lyrics and the rest of the band writes the music. The band right now is stack in Kiev Ukraine and they do their best to help people in the shelters by organising donations and purchase tons of food for them, blankets and clothes. They are all safe... for now If you want to watch some amazing live performances of them you should definitely check out 'Perennial (live at Wacken 2019) or 'Who is gonna be the one' If you wish to focus more on Tatiana's voice you should check out 'Judgment and punishment (one take vocals)' from her. If you want to see a very dynamic and touching anti-war song you should check out 'Home back' which is based on the previous Putin invasion to Ukraine 3 years ago. If you want to check out some amazing Jinjer songs with mind-blowing music videos you should definitely check out the official music videos of: 'Wallflower', 'Perennial' and 'Judgment and punishment' (you could even do a double reaction in 'Judgement' with her vocal one take version) If you want to check out some older Jinjer songs in order to find out their music roots you should check out 'Outlander' and 'Scissors'. Of course there are many other amazing Jinjer songs but this is the starter pack of their rabbit hole. I hope my comment was useful to you Samantha. Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷 Stay heavy 🖤🤘

Good reaction. I think you would enjoy "I speak Astronomy" (OMV) or "Perennial" live at Wacken. Get the lyrics because they are quite clever. Tatiana writes them and she has the soul of a poet. If you have not seen this interview already, it goes into detail about how she learned to growl and the preparations she needs to do before and after a concert. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3PVooqPgqegbJI .💙💛🌻
