The HALO jump is crazy, but you also need to watch the behind the scenes extra about the helicopter chase scene. Cruise not only flew the chopper solo through all those flight stunts, he had to control the film camera shots inside his cabin because there was no room for a cameraman to fit in behind him during the scene, plus he had to act. that was the most mind-bending stunt multitasking I have ever seen. Also, cruise broke his ankle on that rooftop jump scene but still kept running to complete the shot. The injury stopped production for weeks until he healed. But he freaking kept running on a broken ankle!

Great reaction Marie, like always this movie for me is the best from the frachise so far, some fun facts about this movie. To film the jump, stuntman Craig O'Brien used a RED Weapon camera with an IMAX lens (never before used in free fall) strapped to his helmet. O'Brien had to focus the 20 pound camera without looking through the viewfinder. Tom Cruise trained for an entire year to perform the HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) stunt in this film. The HALO skydiving sequence (distance of 7 km / 25000 feet, traveling speed of 265 - 320 km/h) was the last sequence filmed during production, but it was the first stunt designed and required a full year of planning out. The crew had only a limited time window of three minutes a day during sunset to film a jump. Because of strict air aviation regulations in France, it could only be shot in the Emirates. It took Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, the skydiving camera operator Craig O'Brien (who was instructed to keep a distance of three feet from Cruise while filming) and others involved a total of 106 jumps to get three possible takes. The vapor on the helmets in the HALO jump sequence was CG. The background in the HALO jump sequence is CG, but not the actors performing the stunts, which McQuarrie says makes all the difference. The White Widow is the daughter of Max Mitsopolis, or simply Max, that was a major antagonist in the Mission: Impossible 1 she was the lady in the train. Keep up the amazing work.

@@creech54 copy pasting this from quora: Plutonium - for the most part - is a really boring metal, and not at all a purveyor of Magical Death Cooties, a trope that fiction writers have abused to, well, death. The normal case is just that of Mission Impossible. You can handle Plutonium with your bare hands. Plutonium gives off alpha-radiation and that is pretty much harmless, unless you eat or breathe Plutonium powder. So, remember to wash your hands after playing with Plutonium.

DM, the whole point of the IMF team is that it is made up of specific members, depending on the mission requirements. The original series always started with team-leader Jim Phelps (there was no Ethan in those days) selecting from a file who would be in that episode. A pity they missed that part even in the first movie, as it would have set it up properly for the "younger viewers". The originals also always had the mission=briefing tape self-destructing in 5 seconds.

A bullet to a knee means the person will need assistance walking for the rest of their life, assuming they don't just lose the leg. But you said "knees". Plural. If Ethan had done that to Luther, poor old Luther would be in a wheelchair for life. No, don't shoot your friends in the knee. Ever. If you're trying to save them, go for the middle of the shin if you insist on making them fall, or the outside of the thigh if you just want blood but they could still stand on their leg. Stay far away from hip, knee, and ankle.
