But I do somewhat feel she's not recovered to the point that she's as hyper or present as she used to be (she still has that blank expression sometimes during interviews, etc). Though of course, that could totally be because she's matured and mellowed out lol. Either way, I'm glad she's on an upward trend. :)

Yes Austin this was in they early stages before MC duck and MC dack and of course Whee In can rap you should see her in king of masked singer. Also before MC DUCK and DACK they (Solar and Whee In) made a pre debut in saturday night live korea (hilarious episode).

this was pretty early on in their career, so they were both a lot more hyper and still trying to find themselves in a lot of ways. also, as several pointed out, it was before netizens ensured wheein retreated into her shell... back then, wheein was super hyper, even moreso than solar, and more forthcoming with pretty much anything and everything. she constantly talked about things she liked, to the point that some people got upset that she'd do things like promote another group (a boy group) more than her own group because she liked their music so much. and moonbyul was considered the calm one since she's the only big sister in the group... the other three are either little sisters (solar, hwasa) or only children (wheein), so byul would often wind up sitting back and watching the others do their thing, going into big sister mode (it's also partially because she was still feeling uncomfortable as a rapper in a vocalist group, despite how close the four were even back then). over time, as they grew into their roles (and other things happened, like the aforementioned wheein netizen stuff), the group dynamic shifted a lot. byul became more open (and more of a prankster) as wheein started closing herself off and as solar got more accustomed both to leading (byul helped her a whole lot with that early on, when she wasn't tormenting solar) and the way the group needed to be led also, since this was early in their career, their ceos were still trying some of the things standard with kpop agencies, such as the strict control of an idol's image, though after seeing how fans felt about videos like this, enjoying seeing the girls just being themselves, a lot of that vanished and they were allowed much more freedom in everything than they had previously (which was still a lot more free than most other idols got... mamamoo never had a curfew, never had a dating ban. the big rule was basically 'you can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't interfere with your ability to practice and perform'

1. I have been watching your videos all weekend. At one point I have about 90 tabs open. My laptop was not happy with me. 2. The way Moonbyul is leaning forward for most of the video not wearing a seatbeat and Wheein takes hers off roughly halfway in makes me so nervous. Obviously they were fine this time but this seems to be a fairly normal car journey for them and it makes me very worried. As someone who was a casual Ladies Code fan, I really hope someone close to them gives them a good shake and a stern warning to wear their seatbelts. Last thing we want is for more of our beloved idols to become angel-dols.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by saying Moonbyul is the only Big Sister in the group? Ah, wait, I think I figured it out while typing this response. You mean Moonbyul comes from a family where she was a big sister, while Hwasa and Solar were the younger sisters in their respective families, and Wheein was an only child. I was confused for a bit, because the wording was making me think something else. I thought the big sister/little sister/children role was related to the group dynamic somehow, and I couldn't make sense of it, haha. Especially since Solar is the Unnie in the group and Hwasa is the Maknae. I understand now, though.

Her dad also left early on and she grew up with her mom only, however the dad got into bad situations and tarnished her name by asking people for money saying he was the dad of Wheein from Mamamoo. She had to apologize for that as well, and explain that she didn’t have any contact with him. It was all messy and I think the blackface scandal from 2017 didn’t help either.

There was an interview with variety show producers during 2016 and they said they found mamamoo just love being together and that they're always giggling and laughing by themselves. I think it's weird for us because we haven't seen that type of friendship in kpop. Moonbyul and Solar (even though she already lived in Seoul) moved in with Hwasa pre-debut because Hwasa was getting depressed living alone on a rooftop house and Wheein would sleepover a lot.

it wasn't a rooftop house. Hwasa lived in one of those rooms where students live. It's practically a closet. You can google goshiwon (not the newer modern ones but the more classic tiny ones) and see what kind of place she stayed in. It really is pretty depressing. I think the clip was produced around the time they did like up to 4 performances a day, because they were that popular and booked. They probably did not sleep for like 20h or more. Their hours are crazy. Also some more random facts, before one of the days recording for Queendom, they had concerts and the both days before, and they came back late at night, and after just resting a few hours, they did go to Queendom to get ready and to perform. Sometimes i ask myself how they all do it with that much work and no or very few hours of sleep. Also if you have time, watch the whole queendom Episodes. Their interaction with other people and how some of the songs came about are worth watching it :)

Actually that is how Mamamoo used to do their introduction! They used to do hold the last note a bit longer and do a bit of a slide on it as well, and I think their harmony was also at a higher pitch too. These days the harmony is lower and shorter and I don't think they do the moustache hand sign anymore either

Wheein definitely loves to perform, but as the fandoms grows bigger I think she became even more reserve because it’s a lot of pressure being in the spotlight. She was in some controversy in 2018 I believe, due to her deadbeat dad and that probably affected her a lot. During their break in January/February she got a well deserved rest from being in the public and I hope she knows fans are happy with anything she does.
