I believe the "chorus of Geoffs" represent to big three of classic movie monsters: Dracula, Wolfman, and Frankenstein's Monster (the "my monster from his slab" in the lyrics)

Yes, and the repeating Mash choreography is the classic Frankenstein strangle, then Wolfman claws, then Dracula covering his face with his cape.

Each of the dance moves represents one of the Classic Movie Monsters... Frankenstein (arms out), Wolfman (howling at the moon), Dracula (behind his cape) and the Mummy, (arms across the chest, as if wrapped up). Sitting Geoff is Dr Frankenstein, Geoff 1 is Dracula, Geoff 2 is the Wolfman (he scratches fleas occasionally) and Geoff 3 (the one that flosses) is Frankenstein's monster.

The "la la la" section is Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor, just shuffled and swung, and yes, at the end it's Fur Elise. I also think that the 3 monsters are shot at a different frame rate, can't say for sure, they look a lot like stop animation. Awesome reaction to an awesome song.

The characters are Frankenstein, Dracula, wolf man, Frankenstein’s monster. The four steps are from the original universal monster film poster poses. Frankenstein holding out both arms, the wolf man with hands by sides howling up at the moon in half profile, Dracula hiding behind his cape hanging from his arm and finally the mummy with his arms bandaged to his chest. Cooooool. Steve

This was filmed at Pattycake Productions on their new set for the second season of Villains' Lair. (With different lighting he also used it for the Misty Mountains video. ). Since it’s Halloween season, you might want to check out Pattycake’s Bump in the Night. It’s a Thriller-type original song by Layne Stein andTony Wakim (who used to be a baritone with VoicePlay). It’s complete with a dance break and all your favorite Halloween monsters - and Elvira! React from the beginning, although you may need to cut some dialogue for length. And be sure to stay for Elvira with the kids at the end!

I remember hearing the original of this song on the old TV show American Bandstand back in the '60s. Geoff made it even better. I was happy dancing in my chair. Kathy is an amazing dead wife popping up screaming at the end and he laugh. Perfect. Large props to his choreographer. The background looks like it's from Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold. I can tell they did this at PattyCakes, because of the chair Geoff is sitting in and the phonograph from House of the Rising Sun. Geoff 1 is Dracula, Geoff 2 is Wolfman, Geoff 3 is a Zombie or the Monster. He posted a Patreon video of the 3 so we could all learn the dance.

Yes Fur Elise at the end, and Geoff has said “Did you pick up on the "la la la" section? It's Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor, just shuffled and swung”. He really is something else. Kathy was there all the time, sometimes you see her legs twitch when he goes subharmonic. :)
@ZhenYaoYin3 жыл бұрын
He “shuffled and swung” it so well that I didn’t realise until now! And what Kathy’s doing - that’s true love ❤️
@leme35033 жыл бұрын
On the jerkiness explanation: Almost! But it has nothing to with framerates. During shooting, Geoff - as the monsters - did his choreography and singing to a slowed down version of the song, probably around 70% of the normal speed. It was then sped up to match the songs' original speed.

Zherrie - not my own discovery, but worth passing along: the 4 poses of the monster chorus are the classic pose of Frankenstein monster (Karloff), Wolfman howling (Chaney), Dracula raising his cape (Lugosi), and the Mummy (Karloff). Not sure if this was in any way used in the 60s. you might google images of these to see them.

Yeah, the Monster Mash is a dance, but not one that actually exists. It's a fake one that the song is about. There isn't an official one. Also the Geoff on the right is supposed to be Frankenstein's monster, I believe. Could be wrong.
@ZhenYaoYin3 жыл бұрын
I was slightly disappointed to find out that there’s no actual dance, but I also kinda like the idea that it’s such a parody of dance crazes of that era that Bobby Pickett never got around to actually creating one! 🤣
