For sure! Depends on if they are done well or not though haha. In this video I was doing them in tiny spaces where it wasn't necessarily the best option for camera movement. Excellent Taylor, you had lot of improvement since that time. One question: I still have a similar problem I saw in your video, which is the breaking up during panning. What is the main cause of that?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think that has to do with messing up one of these: shutter speed, or frame rate not being compatible with timeline or export settings causing dropped frames or causing it to just look choppy. Not sure which one it was since it was a long time ago! Here's what I do now to avoid this: 1st: Always set shutter speed to 2x frame rate (Filming at 30fps : Shutter Speed is always 1/60fps) 2nd: Make sure to match your footage to your timeline so it doesn't end up with fewer frames than it needs or too many which sometimes makes it to look choppy. (For a 24fps timeline: Adjust 30fps footage to 80% speed so it matches) - In order to do this you'll need to use ND for bright shots to keep the settings locked in. Sometimes if you're doing speed ramps or faster playback it won't be exact but can still look fine. Most of the time it's just going to be the shutter speed or mismatching timeline + export settings that will be most noticeable. 3rd: Make sure your export settings match your timeline (24fps = 24fps) for the same reasons as in #2. Hope that makes sense! Those are just examples (30fps) for the math. I shoot at 24fps, 23.98fps, 60fps, and 120fps so things vary from shot to shot and depending on what camera I'm using, too!

A quick question regarding the gimbal and smoothness- I find I can’t get the smooth forward movement shots. The shots are slightly bouncing from my walking movements, this marked it harder to smooth ramp etc
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo9 ай бұрын
Hey! That's totally normal and one of the hardest things to get better at - takes time and practice. Best things that help are to wear soft shoes like running shoes, walk softly from heel to toe to control the impact a bit, and keep your knees bent while moving. It all adds up to make a difference. Also adding stabilization and nesting your footage in the edit before speed ramping helps clean it up a bit too!

I'm just getting into RE videography and photography after many years as a studio and robo cameraman. Just a lot to absorb but it becomes easier when you compartmentalize. What gimbal and beginner camera do you recommend with 4k video? I was going to get a Lumix G85 but it doesn't have AF. Your first video was impressive, the clarity of that camera is outstanding. I was thinking you were very hard on yourself but that's better than being complacent. I trained with a RE videographer and she had the wide gimbal which she used extremely well. Her videos are very professional and her movements are something I will use in my own work.

Question, since you had the drone shots in your 1st RE video did you have your Part 107? Or have you had any issues doing drone work for clients without a Part 107. It seems as everyone wants drone footage these days, but I'd rather avoid any issues with the FAA. So should I hold off on doing drone work for clients until I complete the testing, or do most photographers not have many instances where that comes up? Sorry for the long message, thanks in advance!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t and probably 50% of people don’t when starting. BUT if I started again I think it’s worth waiting to get it for a lot of reasons. You can make great videos without drone, or hire someone temporarily for your drone shots. It’s not worth the risk for you and your client to do anything illegal, you never know what will happen.

Sorry if this has come up elsewhere. Do you put a credit for yourself or a watermark on your real estate videos when delivering to the client?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Nope! I just treat it as I'm licensing the content made for the client, so just having their logos included makes sense. Ex: Commercials - you don't see who produced it ever so to me it's basically the same for these. Also for MLS you probably can't have it anyways (your credit or agent logos). Some people do, though - I don't see why it would be a huge deal to have a quick logo at the end or something like that (like 2 seconds) after everything if you want to. But as far as referrals go, if someone wants to find out who made the video they will ask your client and should have a way to get in touch so I doubt it really would make much of a difference.

Curious if you've ever asked the client what they liked (and didn't like if you're brave enough) or otherwise heard back any criticism? Sometimes, as shooters/editors, we see (and even agonize over) things the clients never notice. On the other hand, they may find something even more critical, such as time showing a room or missing something because of the pan speed.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Not for this particular video but over the years yes! Great way to strategize and make more effective videos although realtors aren’t necessarily the best marketers (some are) so doing research independently and figuring out strategies on your own helps impress clients more since they can trust you with anything 😄
@seecraig Жыл бұрын
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Perhaps doing a video on discussing (educating/informing) potential client realtors on marketing techniques would be a good topic. Sometimes realtors may request an approach based on something they saw others do but might not be the best approach for a given property for example. Perhaps they're not thinking about highlighting details. Maybe the realtor on camera or walk-through might not be the best approach in some cases. There's a lot that can be discussed in this. Yet you want to make these suggestions gently as you don't want to lose the client.

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think it was because at the time I probably messed up my shutter speed / frame rates / export in some way resulting in some lost frames or something like that. If you keep your shutter angle at 180 and match to your timeline it will help. (2x frame rate (23.98fps = 1/50 , 30fps = 1/60, 60fps = 1/120) then modify that to your timeline to be 23.98fps (23.98fps= 100% speed, 30fps= 80% speed, 60fps= 40% speed) it should play back smoothest and not drop any frames. That means you’ll need to use a Variable ND filter for exposing exteriors and bright interiors too, to keep those settings right. Hope that helps!!

The only thing I can comment on about that video from the past is - that song. That overused friggin song that everyone else used for about 3-4 years straight. Nothing makes me turn the volume down quicker than that damn f-ing song. No offense dude, you do some impressive work. That royalty free processed woman’s voice KZbin stuff goes right to my spine. Sorry, it’s a knee-jerk reaction.
