@@stuppittyhed I...don't know where I stand on this, and it depends by what you mean by "moving on". I do think rape culture allows them to get off scot-free too often, but I also think, and I speak as a man, an American, and someone that as a child has been abused, that people in the United States, and especially men, are too focused on the perpetrators over supporting victims. I think it rather disturbing how you have men express violent fantasies online rather than donating to RAINN or helping in more productive way. They don't have fantasies about murking predators, they have fantasies about murking. Heroic ones, I might add. I like reading Punisher as much as the next comic fan, but I also think America has a problem with either ignoring sex crimes or using them as a mean to virtue signal via calling for much harsher...."retribution", and I think this is one part of the problem that Americans have when it comes to punishment, which is reflected in our justice system. I mean, of course people who prey on children should be in jail for a long time, but can we not forget the victims too? Attention is limited.

Yeah, and legit so few people actually do the foundational check-in of "why do I think this about this person or action?" regularly. To the point where me prompting thought games on figuring out stuff like "why do you trust this person's opinion more when all you know is how they look and their name? why is this person more feminine/masculine to you? why did you not think this person can be this just because they are disabled?" etc. is seen as like mindblowing during equality workshops that I run. Like my peeps, I literally do these kinds of figuring out what you actually think and why without judgement exercises so you can do it your entire life whenever you interact with people or media and you need to check yourself. Especially because most of us aren't really taught how to recognise our own thought processes, attitudes etc always have a pattern and we actually have to actively want to change and do the change in our thought processes if we want to be more equal. Like, as shitty as our media literacy education is, our self-reflection and self-literacy is even worse.

Probably because she's bad too. The fact that he was playing a character and she didn't(as far as we know) also muddies the waters a lot. It was incredibly messy and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to look into it. I did at the time, and pretty much the only thing that was clear to me was that they were both manipulative AF and went on to be even worse, Nick with his pretend fights with his husband and the unhinged character shtick and Stephanie with her disgusting "true crime while I slobber on 45 cheeseburgers" series. It's not defending someone's actions to say that you shouldn't misgender that person or be racist or ableist or misogynistic, it's basic decency because we all know that you're all not shitting a horrible white cishet guy in the same dehumanizing way you do to people who don't fit those labels.

Everything he said in that video defending Ava is so important seeing how trans people are vilified for simply existing, but he also had a few takes on Mr. Beast and Ava as people outside of the conversation about trans people that I was curious if he had changed his perspective on with all the new information that came out. I feel both can be true that he stands by what he said about sunnyv2 spreading hateful transphobia while also seeing if he still stands by what he said about them as individuals separate from the topic. Sunny's video only hated on her for being trans. All of Sunny's accusations came based off the fact she was trans and nothing more. It was same with Tati, both of them just got lucky in randomly accusing someone of being a predator with no evidence. It was pure chance that these things happened after these accusations. If he had insider knowledge that she did do these things beforehand he never provided evidence. Its straight out of the transphobe playbook to call everyone in the LGBTQ community awful things. Eventually you will be right about one person and then you basically give yourself confirmation bias to keep doing it again.

All of us trans people out here collectively cringe when a trans person does something awful, because we know it’s gonna hurt our community as a whole even though it shouldn’t. It’s not fair to us. The media always tries to spin it into propaganda against us. So, I am begging people to leave being trans out of it, and always use preferred names and pronouns. Just like every other group of people out there, there are good people and bad people. There are good cis-gender people and bad cis-gender people. There are good white people and bad white people. But when it comes to ANY minority group, if a minority messes up, it somehow now paints us as a whole group bad? Make it make sense. about the ava kris tyson thing: something i thought about the other day was that when cis people are terrible and do terrible things, we dont go out of our way to misgender them, call them a different name, etc because they are terrible people. so when people feel that its justified to purposefully misgender a trans person because they ended up being a terrible person, you can really see the underlying transphobia that is built into ppl even if they dont feel its bad because "that person is bad" or wtv (sorry if this doesnt make any sense lol)

When someone uses a gender identity to hurt other people you’re in your full right to exclude them from your community, you can’t deny there’s men out there that use a “trans identity” to be predators, it is more harmful to deny this fact and defend them blindly just bc of their gender identity and then it turns out they were just another autogynephillic creep pretending to be a trans woman, just like it happened with Tyson. Gatekeeping is protecting your community from people like him, being kind and accepting of absolutely everyone and not being critical of anyone’s behaviour is going to hurt the lgbt community in the long run and it already is.

It’s entirely different when that person in question is not even a person. But an actual monster, who prayed on minors and shouldn’t be given a shred of respect. If this was a normal human being we’re talking about just simply not feeling right about being their gender or in their own body then I can definitely accept and feel for them. However as I said before when that person turns out to be a monster. No respect should be given. End of discussion.

@@coffinboy556 this is a very dangerous mindset for a lot of reasons. if you view people who do horrible things as inhuman, that means you justify any wrong done to them. at the end of the day, ava is a human being. that doesn't excuse her horrific actions. also, that mindset separates you from the people who do bad things. no matter how bad something is that you do, you aren't as bad as them because they're inhuman and you aren't. do you see how that can be a problem? you justify your own actions no matter what and justify anything done to bad people no matter what. it's really easy to believe that people who do bad things are inhuman, but it's dangerous to think that way.

I know this should be a low bar, but I’m really glad you didn’t use the video about Eva (Ava? Not sure how her name is spelled, I’m unfamiliar with Mr. Beast’s content and collaborators) as the example of aging poorly and that you continued to use her name and pronouns in this video. Too often cis people decide that when a trans person is a bad person they lose the right to their identity. People will deadname and misgender immoral or unethical or criminal or simply disliked trans people and it’s just straight up transphobia. It’s heartening to see you not fall prey to that particular strain of transphobia

@@FallingIn2TheVoid To piggyback on your point, because this community is one that appreciates nuance and I have few outlets for the following pet soapbox: We as conscientious people also need to rise above the trend of resorting to body-shaming about disliked or problematic men. Like whatever everyone can have snotty opinions or speculations ig but it shouldn't be substituted in the place of valid criticism/discourse, it's just bullying.
