just a warning about Built Bars...I discovered Built Bars after seeing Abbey show them on her channel and I agree with her that they are the best tasting protein bar I've ever tried. But today I had my annual dentist appt and I was told I have 4 cavities that have developed in 1 year; as they compared my x-rays to last years and they weren't present. The dentist asked me if I ate a lot of candy, carbs, pop, etc. - to which I replied no. I told her I eat very healthy and the only change in my diet was that I started eating Built bars a year ago. She asked if they are chewy and sticky on the teeth after consuming, which they actually are. She said they are likely the culprit for the cavities and she suggested that I brush my teeth after eating one. So I guess I'm bringing my toothbrush to work as I usually have one for lunch and don't normally brush my teeth 3 times a day! Just some food for thought :)

I was eating built bars A LOT until one day I was eating some chewy candy and one of my fillings got pulled out by the candy. After that, I just can't eat built bars. The texture is too sticky and reminds me of caramel or other chewy candies and I am terrified to eat anything with that texture now.

I stopped breastfeeding my 18 month old in November because his food allergies restricted my diet severely. Ever since then I've struggled to figure out if I'm feeding him a balanced diet/enough food and I also suddenly gained a fair bit of weight despite having dropped most of the pregnancy weight immediately after birth and not gaining much weight while breastfeeding. Nutrition for a 2 year old with multiple allergies would be super helpful right now. Addressing mom's transition from breastfeeding to not breastfeeding would be a bonus.

When I was 5 I remember having Stouffer's mac n' cheese and apple juice and throwing up. Forty years later I still cannot stand apple juice and I didn't eat mac n' cheese for about 30 years. I'm also not someone who throws up a lot. I think I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've thrown up in my life, so that definitely made an impact!

That looks like an amazing pita sandwich! I've got all the ingredients for it, so I'll be trying it. I've never had kids (and may or may not?) but I still find it so interesting how much the routine changes for new moms. I might also be looking into getting some cottage cheese - the casein protein would be great to get into the diet.

My protein cereal recipe: put cereal in the bowl, take cinnamon and sprinkle a good amount in until it’s kind of dusted on everything(some will fall to the bottom that’s okay we get it later), then take a tablespoon ish of nut butter and mix it in until all the cereal had a bit of a coating… it’ll stick together now but then we add the milk+protein powder or a pre made protein shake and they separate into their cereal pieces again. This is so good and a great source of nutrients

Once I threw up after eating a lot of dates and I got to like them again only recently. It is not sickness related, but once I put dill instead of parsley in a pea soup (because that was what I had), which threw off the flavour profile completely and since then I avoid strong dill flavour, even though I used to like it (a slight flavour in pickles doesn't bother me, but if there's more in it, then I'm not a fan).

I used to work at my dad's restaurant and he makes the best biscuits and gravy. He also cooks eggs perfectly! We had a regular who would ask us to put the eggs and hash browns right on top of the biscuits and gravy. We called this the KB special and I would order it often. One day, after eating it, I was so sick and puking. After that I couldn't eat biscuits and gravy or over easy eggs for over 2 years. I love both now again, but for awhile the thought of either just made me so sick.

Breastfeeding question: I have a 3 year old son who I have long stopped breastfeeding. Breastfeeding was very challenging for me: my supply was a BIG STRUGGLE. I had a lactation consultant, and was able to breastfeed with formula supplementation until 9 months (yay me!). Here's what was weird: breastfeeding never made me hungry. In fact, sometimes long stretches of time would pass and I'd realize I hadn't eaten. ANYWAY, my question is this: is the fact that I wasn't made hungry from breastfeeding a symptom that my supply sucked? Or did I exacerbate my supply problems by not eating more?

My daughter is my third: I did nor breastfed my first because he had a heart condition at birth. For my second, he just would not eat. With supplements, I went up to 6 months. While trying to keep things as “weight neutral” as possible. But it’s been *extremely* difficult to navigate the world of nutrition and fitness - thanks to past disordered eating behaviours, yo-yo dieting and abysmal body image. It’s been…A Time, that’s for sure. But yeah…your comment really resonated with me. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve been through and are going through. I hope you’ve been able to put some self-care and body-kindness strategies in place…and that Abbey’s videos have helped! They’ve been an absolutely godsend for me. I lost 20 lbs by just cutting out "nutrition" bars. They are no better than a candy bar. Better off eating a couple squares of dark chocolate for a snack.

It’s amazing to me how you are annualizing “what I eat in a day” for yourself. With total explanation of what’s going on in your life. Yet those who you criticize you don’t do the same. Same on you!!!!!!

For the longest time, chicken was ruined for me because we did a science project in highschool about decomposition that involved taking notes on a chicken leg that had been sitting outside for 2-3 weeks. 😬 Took about 3 years to be able to eat crunchy fried chicken, and 8 or 9 before I was able to eat a nice juicy roast chicken without gagging. It was a process!

Hey Abbey! I was wandering if you could do a video on GoodyBeats. If you watch him on Tik Tok he shows how insulin reacts to what he eats or drinks. Talks about naked carbs to always pair a carb with protein and fat so that your insulin doesn’t spike with just toast. Also he tested his blood sugar reaction when he ate protein and fat first for dinner then ate the rice on his plate. He showed that his blood sugar didn’t spike as much as it would if he ate the rice first. Thank you I really appreciate it and I love all your videos. Especially calling out Dr. Berg. Idk if you saw the video of his son calling him out for being apart of Scientology. He’s definitely a phony.
