Driving in Bradford is a lot like driving in a Middle Eastern country…. The people of BD use The Point & aim, Any lane rule, I Think they imagine there’s only them on the road, & any speed goes… it’s the worst place I have ever driven, & I drive regional for a living… No wonder it’s the Most expensive place in the uk to get insurance! car tests are taken on camels…. No1 has a genuine licence in the place 🤣

Had a mate killed years ago by a drink driver. Driver was on remand for three months Judge said time served and he was released. The locals as you can imagine weren’t very happy

Ben...you sir are a legend !! Coming from a previous arch enemy I 100% mean that. Aged 17 in 1987 I got locked up for twoc....I then had 3 x dr10 within 5 years..I was a total cock...but I knew the rules, if blue lights come on in my mirror I have a choice..play the game and risk my life (and others) or pull over ...I always opted for the latter...not because I had no bottle but because I had respect for the police....I watch the numerous police programs on TV and find myself screaming at the TV when the police are treated like shite!! Thank you Ben for doing what is an impossible job and remaining sane...especially in and around Bradford where there is zero respect ...its so wrong ...but if I mention my opinion as to why its so bad I'd be chased from the Internet for being racist or something similar... I've grown up and no longer break the law...you tried to uphold the law when society, the system, the magistrates/judges took the side of the criminal....well done pal....the world needs more bens!!!

I remember back in 2007 I was 10 I was in a car accident we hit 2 teenagers at traffic light crossings my mum who was the driver had to call ambulance and police because everyone else was to busy telling there friends to avoid the area not help and what happened was the lights faulted and they all went green at once

69 quid? No wonder people ignore the road traffic rules. Come over to Norway Ben - just the speeding fines go up past 900 quid and if you completely ignore the limit (say 150+kph in a 100kph limit) you can get 2 weeks in jail. Stuffing an uninsured Audi into a fence whilst being chased by the police would definitely not cost you 69 quid here....

I'm with you on fines for traffic offenses being stupid... they absolutely should... actually, bugger it. *NEED* to change the laws so that the offender is liable for damages to road infrastructure and other vehicles if involved in a police pursuit. Can't pay? Shouldn't have done the crime now, should ya!? driving under the influence of drugs / alcohol should be an immediate 6 month suspension on conviction and 6 points on the license after their suspension ends. if they re-offend within 3 years it should be an immediate permanent ban due to the high levels of risk they pose to themselves and other road users. Driving without due care and attention should also be a much harsher conviction simply because it's dangerous and highly disruptive to other drivers around them, but since this offense varies depending on the person and the road the points should be based off the level of disruption and risk with minimal leniency applied for use of a mobile phone whilst driving. Low risk / low to moderate disruption; Option for points + fine or a driver re-education course on first offense. If they re-offend within 3 years, £100 fine and 3 points on license. moderate risk / moderate to high disruption; 6 points and a £200 fine high risk: Immediate 6 month suspension of license, £500 fine or infrastructure repair charges if the driver has caused damage to road infrastructure or other vehicles as a result of their poor driving if this value exceeds that of the fines. If a mobile phone is involved: 6 month suspension of license and a £500 fine. If they are caught again within 3 years, immediate permanent suspension of license and a £1000 fine. If you cannot put the instagram down for more than 2 seconds behind the wheel you absolutely should NOT be in control of a 2 tonne metal box trundling idly down the middle lane of the A1(M) south at 50mph being under and overtaken by literally everything including caravans and HGVs... I and the rest of the sane people who don't use their phone and actually FOCUS ON THE DAMN ROAD while driving are absolutely fed up of near misses and actual incidents caused by inattentive driving!! oh - I should mention on the mobile phones part - It should not apply if the device is in a cradle out of reach from the driver, and has been configured for navigational purposes. This is currently and should remain a legal use of a phone. It's the buffoons who can't keep their phone out their hands for more than 2 seconds that the law should continue to apply to.

Fines should be a percentage of your income/savings, otherwise they punish the poor too much and the rich too little. I think community service is a better idea for non-custodial sentences though, for anyone fit enough to do physical work.

Could not agree with you more, the judicial system is a joke. Its 3 points and £100 for doing 10 mph over the limit, even at 3am with no other traffic. But this lad got a £69 fine for writing off a car and nearly killing somebody. In my opinion that kind of reckless driving should have invited a custodial sentence.

Ref your "fox" comment, we once woke up to a gorgeous Triumph motorbike in bits at the end of our drive, three police cars, paramedic and an ambulance crew cutting the rider out of his very expensive leathers. The police asked us if they could leave the bike on our drive until it could be picked up. A few weeks later the rider turned up with his wife. I asked how he was, he said not too bad, and then said "yeah, the deer came out of nowhere". DEER??? I've lived in my house for 12 years, there are no deer in the area. I decided not to say anything in front of his wife, because he may not have made it off my drive alive :D

There's nothing that annoys me more than morons thinking they're in Fast and Furious, finding out the hard way they're crap, and then taking off as if that's going to solve the problem. The economic and psychological effect it has on those involved, including victims, first responders, and people inconvenienced by road closures is massive. If you want to live in society live by the rules of it and dont be a knob. Otherwise there's a lot of empty space in the world, go there and live society behind you. Ben is living proof that this sort of stuff effects people way more than people realise and yet they still don't seem to get it. Absolutely heart breaking that literally all of these sorts of things are 100% preventable and yet a few toolbags looking for a good time ruin peoples lives and get away with £69 fine.
