I once spent a month in New Zealand and back packed from north to south. There is definitely something for everyone there. It’s gorgeous.

Hi from NZ! Yes, you can get access to lots of NZ scenery like this but not all of it obviously. NZ, especially the South Island, has large areas of wilderness with no roads but there is road access right into much of the alpine regions and you can hike deep into the mountains as well. Love your channel; thanks for the great content.

Hi you two, we are just heading into summer now - I live in the north island west coast of black sand and awesome beaches, one & half hour drive to the mountain. New to your channel. Heaps of metal heads here in Aotearoa ( land of the long white cloud ) New Zealand. Peace out. 🇳🇿

Kia Ora, Wolfhunters. The NZ climate is very similar to the coast from Vancouver, Canada, to San Francisco, California. Temperate rainforests like that in Western Washington, plus drier areas to the east of the mountains (like Eastern Washington). Because we’re in the Southern Hemisphere, the weather now in mid-October is theoretically like that in mid-April in that area of the US... but typically more like mid-May. Have you ever reacted to our Stan Walker? Ultralight Beam is a good starting point with him!

Peter from New Zealand here - and we do live in a wonderland. Wildlife - not wild at all. New Zealand is known for its bird life. We can just go wandering in the back country without any worry in the world.

Put it this way, my mates and I went snowboarding in the morning, wakeboarding in the afternoon, and had dinner on a vineyard looking over a volcanic lake. One single day. That’s how far my bro.

From where I live I can go deer and pig hunting, marlin fishing, soak in thermal pools and drive to s ski field, any of these in one day radius of home. Being a small country things are quite compact. There was, possibly still is a package that offered deer hunting, trout fishing and big game fishing all within twenty four hours.

NZ is a small place. Where I live in the South Island, I can be out surfing than 1.5hrs later be at the Mount skiing. Amazing place really!

There are parts of the South Island that have never been accessed by humans, as the topography is too difficult or dangerous to traverse.

I live in suburban Auckland. Within 30mns to 1 hr, I could go to a beach, vineyard, forest, bush walk, zip lining, bungy jump, sky dive, jet boat ride, zoo, museum, volcanic mountain climb…. 2.5 hrs to snow or skiing.

you can take helicoptor tours in most areas that will take you over mountains and lakes to give you arial views. especially the glaciers in the south island... you can take boat tours on the milford sounds and drive to lots of areas but yes some is only by air for those views! You can drive from the top of the north island to the bottom in 7-8 hours straight down, more if you branch out west or east. you need to take a 2 hr ferry to the south island and the south island is about 8 or 10 hours from top to bottom. again you need to see lots on your way through so it takes longer if your stopping to see the sights. Wellington is at the bottom of the north island and i live 1.5 hrs from there, I am 15 mins inland from the ocean, right on a river. I can drive for 1.5 hours and be at the nearest ski mountain in the winter. go in another direction for 2 hours and i go to one of our ocean side tourist towns with waterslide park and hot pools and wineries etc. Generally you can get to most places within 2-3 hours drive each day during a trip!
@martinsmallwood96053 сағат бұрын
You will not drive from the top to bottom of the north island in 8 hours . It will take at least 11hours its 1,055 km by road Cape Reinga to Wellington . South Island Nelson to Bluff is about the same distance will take over 12 due to roads and topography.
@JohnDeadman-iq2ko Жыл бұрын
In answer to one of your questions, you can basically drive from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island in around 4 days, including crossing Cook Strait on the ferry, but why would you want to....take your time and soak up the culture, taste the wonderful fresh food, have some New Zealand wine (NZ has a huge wine industry, exporting all round the world), get out of the vehicle and explore. No wildlife here that can kill you, not even any snakes in NZ at all. Most tourists hire a motorhome to explore our wonderful land.

Technically, there are sharks and wild pigs. But no NZ pig would take a fight over escape, unless you had it cornered. And sharks are everywhere, so...

You guys so need to come and visit down here, it is the most awesome place to live. You asked about the wildlife, there isn't much here that will hurt you (go to Aussie if you want that 😆) but we do have some amazing creatures here. The Giant Cave Wētā is the heaviest insect on earth, it looks scary, but much like the rest of us, its pretty laid back 😁. I wonder if when your friend said he knew The Feelers if he knew of them or he actually knows them, that kinda the way it is down here.

3 months late but oh well, all of those places you could do as a day trip if money was no object but realistically a weekend trip for normal people, a lot of tourists generally do a road trip over a few weeks and see a good amount of these places

You can be in several different environments in the same day if you wanted to because of the shape of the land in a day i coud drive through rolling hills and a small desert to pass through a rain forest to get to the ski fields and then head to the coast in a day if i really wanted to id be exausted but its possible if your crazy.

Wildlife 🤣 am I going to be eaten? 🤣 Mosquitoes maybe but that's it. We have these amazing prehistoric looking insects call Weta. Then there are the cheeky Kea who will steal things from your unattended cars and/or backpacks. The reason we have flightless birds is because we have no predators; e.g fox, bear, wild cats etc.

New Zealand is an adventure, we have beautiful forests, pristine beaches, no predatory wildlife (nothin' is gonna eat you Travis.. unless of course it's another Travis...) the people are friendly, the native people are the Maori (pronounced Moh-ree) and the greeting that Suzi correctly stated is called a "Hongi" (Pronounced Hawng-ee) and is when they press their noses together which signifies the sharing of the "sacred breath" or spirit between them. The farthest inland point 119.44km (74.22 miles) from the coast which means you are no more than 1 1/2 hours from either the Pacific Ocean or the Tasman Sea and we have beaches, boy do we have beaches.. By some international standards, there is pretty much no one here, we have a population of around 5 million people but according to those same people you could drive for hours and not see another soul (I'm not entirely sure the source is credible though). Our national bird is a flightless little fella called a Kiwi (like the fruit) and is the term that New Zealanders are commonly known by. Our national sport is Rugby (Union) which along with Rugby League is touted by some Americans as pure madness on account of us not wearing pads for protection and our willingness to run like lunatics point blank into the opposing team, sure there may be bruises and a little blood spilled but nothing that can't be worked out over a couple of beers in the clubrooms afterwards. Christmas and New Year here is during the summer, so a lot of Kiwis will have bbqs (broiling) at the beach which I think is one of life's pure pleasures sitting under a tree at the beach the aroma of cooking meat in the air and an ice cold beer in the hand, it's really hard to beat. So if you guys decide to wander on down here, you are more than welcome and would have a few fans helping you enjoy your visit. P.S. Some people like to think New Zealand is part of Australia, nothing could be further from the truth, we are an independent nation and Australia is the most western part of our island network so in fact they belong to New Zealand, They just don't know it yet...

NZ is a land of birds and insects. The only native mammals are small bats. There's literally nothing except sharks that'll hurt you. That and the fact that NZ is primarily two long thin islands means that nzs geographical diversity is easy to reach. NZ is in fact one of the most geographically diverse country's on the planet. No place is more than 80 miles from the coast. You can go from swimming on the beach to skiing within two hrs
