I played hockey for 13 years when I was young. The only times I got hit by a goalie was by my own goalie one year. If you got into his crease, he would hit your ankles with his stick. I learned to stay out of his crease. Nice reaction, man.

As a goalie I have intentionally hit a player just once. My defenceman was working hard to clear an opposing forward from in front of my crease. When the play started to move the other way the forward cross checked my defender in the back of the head, right below the helmet, knocking him to his knees. So I punched him in the same spot with the end of the blocker. When he pushed back in got the refs attention and he got 2 for roughing. I got the puck shot at my head the rest of the gam. 😁
