Pat brought his already set up platform to ESPN, he still owns his show, he has eay more leverage than any other show hosts and he knows it, if they cut his show he can get another big sponsorship deal and go back to running everything himself

Still think it’s funny so many people were dogging on Pat for “selling out”. Maybe he “rented out” his show to ESPN. But dude maintained complete ownership of his show. I’m still convinced ESPN needs pat a lot more than he needs them which is why I think they show there belly everytime Pat steps out.

Toxic organizations promote toxic people. It's clear with Pat, Dan, and Jemele all speaking to it that Norby is a huge problem at ESPN but, being a toxic organization, they clearly empower Norby to do pretty much what he wants.

Imagine what it must feel like as an ESPN executive. For the first time ESPN and their platform dont have the leverage. Pat's show doesnt need it, they need Pat. ESPN's ratings and dominance in the market has been dwindling for years. Everyone got sick of the politics and screaming black man with unlimited shows over and over. I switched to pats because all my favorite sports anchors had moved on from espn and started their own thing. I watch rich eisen and pat mcafee for my mainstream sports news. I watch the TheHockeyGuy and steve dangels podcast for my hockey news. I hope they keep the show what it is and if they get pushed, Walk away
@Matt-cr4vv

This entire thing is why I love Pat. He only made his move to ESPN after they basically conceded to him everything he wanted. And he openly stated prior to the move that the primary motivation of even doing it was to lessen his work load since a bunch of the backend work he normally had to do when he was on his own would be handled by ESPN and free up a lot of time for him. But it’s dope to see somebody land what Pat did where he can operate freely rather than bending his knee since he has zero reliance to being on ESPN. I’m sure he’d prefer to stay on the network and continue the lower work load but it’s been cool seeing him stay true to himself and doing what he wants. But I’m not sure it will really benefit anybody else because he’s an anomaly that was well established on his own and has no reliance to the network while all the normal folk will still be beholden to the network as in normal practice. All in all it’s fun to see but it’s largely just an example of how the world has always worked and that being that the big names who are established out side of the network itself and have a readily available pivot to something else if they left the network have always been able to and continue to be able to get away with a bunch of things that normal people can’t. And it may do harm to something independent making a jump since it’ll further entrench the network not wanting to let anybody get control like this again. But who knows will be fun to see things play out

I used to consume a lot of ESPN content back in college, highly questionable, numbers don't lie, sportsnation, the jump, etc. because these shows were so unique and packed with talent, making them different from typical argument sports television. Nowadays in the rare instance I tune into ESPN for non-live sports content, all I see is the same 5-6 people being on repeat 24/7, i.e. Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Pat McAfee, Mike Greenberg, Ryan Clark, and Kendrick godawful Perkins and its just like why tf do I have to see these same people all day everyday saying the same things they've been saying the day before smh. Jamel has been a failure everywhere she’s been since she left ESPN. Every show that she’s tried to be on has been canceled within a year, she has been nothing since she left ESPN.

Hated how that stupid music interrupted Dan’s monologue on the Mina Kimes contract. The show has Dan’s name on it- totally disrespectful.

This is what Pat signed on for, it was a mistake from the start to join espn and stupid when you are building an empire yourself.

Its funny... when an exec leaks info to the newspaper..... its ok not to be called out? I think Dan was worth the money.... but he should have gotten more....

He literally just called Pat a wrestler.... Jeez . Yeah sounds like support to me. One of if not the best punter in his era.

Wrestlers are actors who use drama to increase interest. Pat is really good in those roles. His personality and career choices align.

Isn’t wrestler bigger than punter. Wrestlers can be big-time movie stars…The Rock, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, how many punters have been on that level. I think as an entertainer, wrestler is a better representation of Pat’s skillset than being referred to as a punter would.
