Kirstin wrote this song. She has a beautiful voice and it really shines in this song. You should really checkout Bohemian Rhapsody Mitch has the lead. I agree it does sound like Enya but this is all done acapella.

Loved your commentary Adam. PTX has lots of originals - Can't Sleep love (the music video and the live at Popspring 2016 for comparison); Thank You (written by Scott with Scott leading and playing piano and Kevin on the cello); Sing (with a great video with their fans); Happy Now (one of my absolute favourites PTX originals); Anchor (no music video just audio with Mitch in the lead). Looking forward to more reactions from you.

This was a different sound for PTX. Scott summarized it in a promo by saying it’s about “that person in your life that gives you clarity”. Meaningful lyrics. I got Enya’s Orinoco Flow/Sail Away vibes at the beginning as did other commenters. Their versatility & creativity is breathtaking! It deserves radio airtime b/c if you close your eyes & listen, you would NEVER guess it’s acapella!!!! My favorite originals from PTX are Sing, Run to You, That’s Christmas to Me and New Year’s Day! (Here’s a link for New Year’s Day as it doesn’t have an official video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5DcgaekhqqYrpY It used to have millions of views so I think it must have been re-uploaded.

Kirstie doesn't write her own songs for the group that often - if you get a chance chk out 'Water' which they do live on tour (not sure there's ever been a vid for it but there are live versions) She does get to lead in a fair few of their videos (Shallow, Say Something, Rather Be etc... ) We need to remember that this batch of originals/covers/Christmas tracks are still being done individually and so maybe the process is more difficult for them as they thrive off each other normally when performing. I personally thank them often for their efforts to continue to produce content for their fans during these extremely difficult times. Thanks Adam - we do really enjoy your reactions , especially with all the blockages everyone is facing - we do appreciate all that you do . X

Pentatonix's latest music video starring Kirsten in the lead singing role. Glass being the primary theme
@connix694 жыл бұрын
Kirstie was the primary songwriter on this song in addition to singing the lead. When it comes to PTX originals, they are definitely not like other bands. The style of their originals truly runs the gamut from hip hop to pop to soul to edm and on and on. There are various songs that feature the trio individually, like this one for Kirstie, but in general they tend to do the "share the lead" thing in different verses. And, yes, a ton of us Pentaholics have referenced Enya "Orinoco Flow" (Sail Away) since this was released. I would be surprised if you were familiar with Enya and didn't notice. This latest album of theirs that this song is on is their 2nd album of original songs.

They also recently covered cranberries on this album and has a similar feel. There are just so many to recommend...since you like Kirsten so much, a throw back of there’s from the beginning is say something. They really do manage to sound just as good live. Also recommend their “evolution of _ “ videos. They do Michael Jackson’s, Rihanna most recently, and others...it shows them blending completely different songs into another and it’s also not studio recorded. I believe evolution of music is first. I’ve said on another video, but you must do imagine and bohemian rhapsody. Also jolene with dolly pardon. They also did if I ever fall in love early on with Jason derulo. Also there are songs where kevin sings too, they also rap in others but did a great job on boogie woo give bugle boy, plus there whole catalog of Xmas that is classic and modern. I forgot to say, I really enjoy your reviews as well. This group is reviewed a lot and I very much enjoy how you do your reviews and I know you have a lot of surprises in store if you continue to do reactions to their songs without listening to them first, which I can tell you haven’t so far. Merry Christmas! (Come ye merry gentleman is a great Christmasy tune they killed!)

Hey--when I first saw this it was blocked in my country (as was the one you did with Mace) , so I'm glad I noticed it now! Thanks! I would LOVE it if you reacted to their cover of "Amazing Grace" they released yesterday. I stayed up all night listening to it....One of my favourite originals from them is "Run To You." It's one of their earlier ones, and I think was written by Avi and Kevin. It's completely different from this one (not that I don't love this one too), but it would give you a sense of how different their originals are from one another too. Take care! xo

Definite an 80's nod to Enya, a song I love also! It's always a surprise when PTX does an original because you never know who is going to be the major inspiration or writer. They are each so gifted that the grab bag of options is limitless. You can tell Kirstin's style immediately. This is a lower energy song, very easy listening. Kirstin shines.

There are many original songs. Yes, this one did seem to borrow from Enya's "Orinoco Flow." Kevin isn't the world's best beat boxer. However, his talent for keeping an extraordinarily solid rhythm for the group, and very appropriate sound effects (ones that add to a particular song, rather than detract or distract), is unequaled.
@mecfstraveler4 жыл бұрын
I most definitely got an Inya ( no idea how to spell the name) vibe from this song and many reactors have said the same thing. So you're not crazy, or the reverse could be true and we could all just be crazy together. 😊 This is the second single released from their original album due out in February. "Happy Now" is a Scott focused song and they released that a few weeks back.. maybe a month? But that's an original as well. They recorded the music video for "Happy Now" back in September of 2019 when they were still on their world tour.
@dishmurphy65393 жыл бұрын
Two other originals you should hear - Run to You & Sing. All 3 are complex different. Just like their covers, you can’t get a feel for the work with just one song. From what I hear we will get an originals album in February. Me My Eyes should be on it as well as Happy Now. That’s another idea for an original. ☮️💟😷
