as a luvie i will tell you honestly, to my knowledge irene has never done that high note live. they all tried it in the studio and surprisingly she was the best, the story goes she had to like bend over and scream to do it and don't think it's been done on stage. however i think wendy has hit those baby whistles toward the end on stage. so glad you reacted to them again and enjoyed these songs! RBB is my fav title track from them.

Whistle notes in Really Bad Boy were ACTUALLY done by Irene, even though it shows Wendy screaming in the shots. Really Bad Boy is a mixing of their two styles, actually. As a huge Reveluv, Irene doesn't (to my knowledge, anyway) hit the whistle note live, she lets the backtracking handle it. I haven't heard a live that she goes at it.

But thats whats great about experimental groups like Red Velvet. They don't play it safe a lot of times. They take risks...and thats what leaders do. The risks they take now , even the under-appreciated or even flat out hated risks, will be trends they lay forth that others will copy in the future. I would not have Red Velvet be any other way = ) For myself, I remember not caring for Zimzala when it first dropped , like most ppl. But after a few weeks and bc my friend really liked it, i got used to the sound and NOW if they ever come back to do a concert after covid ends...trust and believe when Zim comes on EVERYONE in the venue will be chanting like a cult along to that chorus bc its iconic at this point!

you know what's impressive abt red velvet is the harmonisations and layering. Even kpop producers agreed that there's almost little to none kpop groups that have impressive vocal harmonisations like Red velvet. They do not only slay the lead vocals, but those hard hitting background vocals, adlibs and runs are to die for too! You'll have this SATISFYING feeling whenever you listen to what happen in the background . It's like..A LOT OF THINGS THEY ADD which makes that song sounds richer and fuller compared to other kpop groups which kinda feel bland

I view RV as being right on the cusp of 2nd vs 3rd; they went 2nd Gen in structure and style (owing to SM's inherent conservatism, but with all of 2nd Gen's "lessons learned", RV avoided many of the pitfalls. Except the literal ones.), Mamamoo, the same year, pioneered the 3rd Gen attitude, structure and style.

Red Velvet is the queen of harmonization, the group who took risk to release a ballad song as their title track. Try to listen to "One of These Nights", this track really flex Red Velvet godly vocals. This song also a very special one because it was dedicated (not officially) to the 300+ students who died in the sinking of Sewol Ferry. You can also react to Milky Way it's a cover song to celebrate BoA 20th Anniversary, it was just released last August and Wendy's first appearance after her accident last December 2019. I can't really choose who's a better group in terms of vocals between Red Velvet and Mamamoo but if individually it is by far Wendy is better over Mamamoo members' vocals. Wendy's vocals is really God sent from heaven 😂

I'm really glad you reacted to RV! A lot of people joke about RBB saying it's an intellectual-only song, because it sounds really unusual. You should enjoy Zimzalabim weirdness too then! For live vocals I would recommend Ladies Night (they sang it in a vlive, you can find it on yt if you want), it's a really funky RnB song with lovely adlibs and harmonies, where Wendy really shines. I've seen a lot of reveluv recommending Psycho live version, I think it is really good too, and even though I'm a moomoo first and foremost I think it really deserved the Song of the year award. What I love about Red Velvet and their vocals is the extent they use all the additional vocals (adlibs, harmonies etc) to effectively act like another layer of the instrumental. I don't think I know many other groups that do it quite like they do.

I absolutely love bad boy! It has been a bop since it came out! There is a group that I just found called E'last and I am already in love with them and I think you will really love them too! A lot of people say that everyone sounds the same now in kpop, but E'last is definitely something different. They have a more classy and ethereal concept that stands out from the either dark or light/cute concept we see a lot. They only have two mvs out Swear (debut) and Tears of Chaos (1st comeback)! They aren't well known so there probably won't be much requests, but I really hope you look into them!!❤

One of the things that I really love in stanning Red Velvet is their songs. Title tracks are so good but when you start to go deeper in their bsides, you will in a world of different genres, harmonies and their range in singing.

For the live versions I would recommend their videos where they are singing live over the radio without the dancing. You can usually tell by the thumbnails. These would be KZbin videos from MBCkpop, SBS Radio, KBS Kool FM, KBS Kong. Search those same channels for some really great Mamamoo performances as well. In Mamamoo's performance of Egotistic on KBS Kong the host starts dancing and Wheein struggles so hard to hold it together from laughing throughout the entire song.

Really bad boy is my favorite rv title track :) I really like the song 'sassy me' from that album, it's a little strange tho. Ohh and if you liked themed videos, you should react to vixx :) they're known for their concepts

She hasn't done it live tho, I'm gonna guess that even if feasible it would be better to not do it live since it's still similar to a scream. Actually, Bad Boy has an English version. You can listen to that too! But I bet the Korean version has a deeper meaning...sort of? Haven't seen the translation yet. 😅 Edit: Apparently, really bad boy has an English version too!

Speaking of SM groups, I'm actually surprised you haven't heard SHINee yet. They're well known for their vocals and harmonies as well as their difficult choreographies. If you ever decide to react to them, their debut is Replay and their latest song was Countdown (a surprise song for fans). Their latest comeback with all 5 members was Get the Treasure and their latest comeback as 4 was Our Page, dedicated to their member who passed away.

Bad Boy is one of Red Velvet's most iconic songs. There is an english version as well. Try to listen to their B-Sides because those are gems! Wendy is RV's vocal powerhouse. Look her up and her duet with John Legend (Written in the Stars).

My ultimate favorite Red Velvet songs are "Psyko, Bad Boy, Really bad boy, Red Flavor, Zimzalabim and Dumb dumb". The songs I love is "Russian Roulette and Peek-a-boo". Mean while the songs I consider "fillers" since they are simply good song that's nice to have in the background or between the songs I place on higher positions are "Umpha Umpha and Power up". The rest of the songs I don't have on my playlist. Some is because I don't like them, and some is because I don't think I actually have listened to all their old songs/MVs Regarding their B-sides I haven't actually listened to their albums, however I do have "Love is the way, little little and So good" on my playlist. Also I like the English version of "Bad boy" the lyrics doesn't come off as cringy to me.
