Red Velvet has two concepts they switch between. "Red" and "Velvet" Red concepts are like Umpah Umpah. Other examples are Red Flavor, Dumb Dumb, Ice Cream Cake, and Rookie. Velvet concepts Psycho fits this as does Peek-A-Boo. But really good examples are Bad Boy, Really Bad Boy (different songs), Automatic, Be Natural, One of these Nights.

The pink haired girl in Russian Roulette and the girl behind the wheel (and in the pink swimsuit) in Umpah Umpah are both Irene! And the red head in Russian Roulette is Yeri the maknae! The one who did the run in Umpah Umpah was Wendy (her and Seulgi do a lot of the runs in RV songs) and the one in the green swimsuit was Joy! RV debuted at what I would call the cusp of 2nd and 3rd generations, they are more 2nd Gen in concepts. At the time, being _the rapper_ was kind of the kiss of death for getting a fair share of lines (even though every group "had" to have a rapper or rap line), so they didn't declare anyone to be _the rapper,_ they kind of pass that duty around on a song-by-song basis (the way SNSD passes around a live mic during interviews, LOL). 3rd Gen is making a lot of headway on the second-class status for rappers, witness Mamamoo & (G)i-dle. MMM also debuted at the same cusp, but is more 3rd Gen than 2nd.

RV is probably one of the best groups to do a MV deep dive on (besides Mamamoo) because their title track history is really varied and diverse! You never know what you'll be expecting! I can't wait til you react to Bad Boy, Zimzalabim, Red Flavor and Dumb Dumb! Also I'm really surprised you found 'psycho' that weird! It seems like a pretty standard 90s style R&B song! RV besides Mamamoo are one of the only groups that can do good 90s style R&B! They have a really popular B Side called 'kingdom come' that you might want to do a seperate video on! Also their bsides are really good too in general!

There's a saying goes "No one sounds like Red Velvet when they sing together". Since you are a Vocal Coach, the best MV's you can react is One of These Nights and Milky Way (Red Velvet made a a cover of their company sunbae BoA's 20th debut anniversary). These two songs really flex their vocals and I'm sure you're gonna love it. when in terms of vocal performance, Red Velvet and Mamamoo are reallyyyyyyyy the top tier among all groups no one really comes close. Tbh you can't really choose who's much better among the two coz both two groups can showcase a godly vocals but if you're gonna choose one member who's the best vocalist among these girls, it's gonna be Wendy. She has the widest vocal range in KPOP from Eb3 - Eb7 ( the only kpop idol with 4 octaves,), her low register is also a chef's kiss (Kingdom Come, Red Velvet's b-side, their low registers note here is 🔥) her vocal technique and stability is on a another level despite having a vocal nodules before and during her debut(we only know recently that she had a vocal nodules during debut, an SM vocal coach revealed it but still her "Shine on Me" high notes in Happiness still gives us goosebumps) Almost every fandoms accept that Wendy is really the best vocalist of her generation to the point she's on par with Girls' Generation Taeyeon, one of the best vocalist in Kpop as well. (i mean no wonder they're in the same company, SM Entertainment the land of best vocalists in KPOP). You might not be fond Wendy's YET but i'm sure you will after reacting to more songs of Red Velvet. 💖 btw those back vocals and adlibs that you like and praising, that is Wendy's voice. You should definitely react to their official debut as five, Ice Cream Cake and the counterpart song, Automatic, since both have videos and it's basically their start. They had a gorgeous ballad called One of These Nights, if you want to hear more of their Velvet vocal side. Then you got Dumb Dumb which is a super wild song, also Bad Boy which is more in line with American pop rnb music. IF you want super catchy summer bops, Red Flavor and Power Up are your best friends. Can't remember if you reacted to Peekaboo, but that song is so excellent I'm shook just thinking about it. And as always, I recommend if you end up liking them a lot, check out their albums and their bsides, because those are the ones that really really hook you up.

Russian Roulette is one of their "older" songs, while Umpah Umpah is fairly new - when you are more familiar with RV you'll see they refer to the titles of many of their hits in Umpah Umpah. Red Flavor is probably their biggest hit in Korea, while Bad Boy was a huge international hit (just like Psycho). They've now become known for both summer bops (like Sistar used to) and Halloween hits, since Halloween is coming up I recommend Peek-a-Boo and RBB (Really Bad Boy) for that date with its heavy halloween/horror theme. Reckon you'll change your mind about Wendy given time, she's pretty amazing. She did a duet with John Legend called Written in the Stars, for all the collabs between western and korean artists it wouldn't be wrong to say this is the strongest. To hear their live vocals they did a cover of Milky Way by BoA recently, also Psycho @ReVe festival finale just before they were forced to take a hiatus due to Wendy's stage accident are both recommended. Both are done sat down. Musically Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Dreamcatcher and soloist IU are the most interesting for me in k-pop

So a quick run-through for Red Velvet’s concept, they are known for the dual concept theme. Red is for upbeat and straight up pop songs, while Velvet is for more mature, rnb kind of songs. It’s going to be fun seeing Sir Austin fall in love with Red Velvet especially since MAMAMOO and Red Velvet are really good friends and have also collaborated in the past (Moonbyul’s Selfish ft. Also just a side note for future videos. A lot of older videos for a lot of SM artists (Red Velvet, Exo, TVXQ, SHINee, Super Junior, Girls Generation, etc) don’t have subtitles on the original videos. They were pretty inconsistent with subs back then (not just SM but some other companies too) and didn’t start consistently uploading subs until around 2017, but there are unofficial channels that reuploaded the older music videos with the subs if you’re interested.

The first two girls you picked in 'Russian Roulette' are Yeri (dark red hair) and Irene. RV debuted with 4 members and quickly added Yeri into the roster. Both of them often (but not constricted to) use Rap-Sing tone when singing their songs. Joy's role (in Russian Roullette she sports the long bright yellow hair) in RV is a vocalist so she often sings in the mid-tone melody part. Seulgi is good with her acrobatic voice skill (hence gotten picked to be the lead vocalist.) And lastly Wendy is the main vocalist, she tends to have better support over Seulgi but both of them can do almost the same to rift if they want to (it just means Seulgi usually sings a bit more airry than Wendy's chest to head, fully supported tone.)

Yes, the vocal agility girl is Wendy, you should definitely check out her performances in TV shows like Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook, or them singing 'Goodbye' in Immortal Songs 2, they are REALLY incredible singers. 'Goodbye' is one of my favorites Immortal Songs performances ever, it's so beautiful and emotional.

It's very interesting that you chose the rappers in the first video as your favorites voices (Yeri and Irene) . Red Velvet has the most interesting discography all of Kpop ever. The reason is because they have two main sides. One of them, it's the cutie, pop, bright side (Red side like these two songs) and the dark, mature, R&B and almost psycho side (Velvet side like Psycho) The main vocalists, all of them make adlibs and background voices but also, the rappers that they can sing beautifully like you said.
