The song Suicide represents both sides, the perspective of someone who is actually playing with the idea and the second part, the perspective of someone who has lost a person (Ren). I think ren puts dark lyrics into boppy melodies because it makes them more palatable and starts conversations between people who would normally never engage with the subject.

In the UK artists are allowed to play music on the streets for tips and it's called 'busking'. It doesn't mean that he was homeless though. Artists do it for some money and for notoriety. Others do it to practice the art of performing or just because they enjoy it. Ren did it for most these reasons. He loved busking. The first song really is a song of two parts. The first was indeed about his experience with his own unaliving thoughts. He was enduring so much pain that the thought of leaving this realm did seem appealing which is why the song is so upbeat as you spotted. However, Joe (Ren's childhood friend) jumped off the bridge when Ren was only 19 so Ren experienced how his death not only affected him but his loved ones and swore he couldn't do that to his family. So he endured years and years of suffering. I would even say that if it hadn't been for Joe's 'sacrifice' we may not have Ren today. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

I think Su!clde is upbeat at the beginning, to kind of make it sound familiar, comfortable... I like it, because it allows us to destigmatize the subject... It doesn't have to be taboo to talk about it. These conversations need to happen 🖤

The bit at the very end of For Joe is directly from Ren's song Freckled Angel's that he wrote and performed live shortly after Joe died. These two you did today were both a catharsis for Ren and a tribute to his freckled angel, Joe. Thanks for your thoughtful reaction to our amazing Ren 💙

So the night that Joe decided to unalive himself he was on the phone with a friend. That friend called Ren since he was the closest to the bridge. Ren got dressed and ran as fast as he could in the middle of the night, but got there about five minutes late. 😢 I love the reactions that you’ve done so far. I always enjoy watching someone new find Ren‘s music.

Check out his new song he released last week (Fred Again mashup). It is wonderful. Thank you for reacting to Ren. He is special and cares about people and the earth as well as getting out his messages. After all these yrs of making music his messages are still the same and wealth is not important to him.

I really wish more people would recommend checking out Freckled Angels first or at least before For Joe. The recognition at the end of For Joe really makes that performance so much more special. Well they’re both still powerful experiences at least even if you miss out on that layer. As others have said, Suicide is twofold. The first part is about Ren’s own contemplations about ending his struggles and the second part is his experiences as a loved one who lost his best friend. The latter has probably played a big part in him not giving up himself because he knows exactly what he would put his friends and family through. And yes, For Joe starts with the ending of Suicide before going into new lyrics and ending the performance with the chorus from his older song Freckled Angels. Ren is such a special artist wearing his heart on his sleeve. He isn’t afraid of being vulnerable and he paves the way for others to open up and talk about topics that we don’t talk about enough. Looking forward to your continued journey down the Ren rabbit hole. Still so many sides of this multitalented genius to discover 🐰🕳️

'The Tales' is a very dark story, perhaps try 'Genesis' or 'Power' which are easier to take in (all Ren's lyrics have meaning) and have a sense of lightness about them

The middle is a bit from 'Dominoes'. Honestly, that song is freaking amazing, sad and so true; along the vein of money game but more personal. When Ren hit 1 million subscribers he wrote and spoke his thank you. That is probably one of the most amazing thank yous that you will ever hear. So heart felt.

It’s not though. None of the lyrics are from Dominoes so at most he is just making a reference to the song by using the title in these lyrics. Which is highly likely since it’s Ren.

I don't know if he was actually homeless, but I do know he lived a few nights on the streets in order to experience and write about it. He's got a blog post about it. You should watch the vlog he recorded a few years before "Hi Ren". He used the video as a promo right before "Hi Ren" was released.

Ren's illness was undiagnosed lime disease (sick boy bitten by a tick boy). A light goes out on the other side refers to his friend called him from the other side of town saying he was going to kill himself.

He has this the end of this song in the songs How to be me with Chinchilla and "for joe" I don't think he is really looking for a way out since he keeps saying it is not the right time. But it is about timing even if you are the person trying to save your friend from his or her self "you can't watch and stop them forever" is their mentality. Try something fun like uninvited or blind eyed mc or official video. Oh yes pay attention to his songs he always he always does call outs to his previous songs
