So technically Seventeen has 1 official Subunit that they actually debuted: BooSeokSoon (Hoshi, Seungkwan, DK), they have 1 song "Just Do It". But they do have many B-side songs that they release in their position units or other combination of members. Like "Change Up" is a song with the 3 Seventeen leaders, "My I" is Jun/The8 aka Chinaline's song, and "Rocket" is Joshua/Vernon aka the English speaker's song. To answer your question on Hoshi, yes he can rap and has rapped on quite a few Seventeen songs. Personally, I think Hoshi is the strongest allrounder (strong in Vocals, Dance, and Rap) in Seventeen. He was originally supposed to be in the vocal unit and I'd say probably has the 4th strongest vocals in the group but was switched to lead the performance unit because of his ability to choreograph. So his dance ability is no question. His rap is also very strong and he has rapped on many occasions. Dino I'd say is a close 2nd when is comes to all rounders in the group. And to be fair, ALL of Seventeen have been shown to be capable of Dance, singing, and rap.

Being Carat since debut, I can confirm that it doesn't matter who your bias is. The performance unit is the favorite of most of the fandom. 😂 Especially at concerts.

Love this reaction, just wanted to let you know about Jun and Minghao (Chinese members), they are actually treated the same as the Korean members in the group, which I know can be surprising because some companies don't do that (e.g. SM). In this group all the members have been clear about equality, and all of them putting every member on the same level, so no one is above or below anything or different from each other, on the flip side I would say the members have extra love and soft spot for their Chinese members :) In terms of work, the Chinese members have been given the same chances and opportunities as have all the members, such as solo songs (Jun's Boarding Gate and Minghao's Side by Side), CF deals, tv appearances, performances etc. Jun is currently shooting for a Chinese drama, and MInghao is going to be a judge on a Chinese dancing show, because they both wanted to see their families which they had not been able to due to Covid they have only gone for few months to rest and be at home. SVT is famously known for their long group meetings, they always decide everything together and then tell the company what they expect and want. Even with these two being with their families for now, they are at every online SVT concert and part of every conversation and appearances. In SVT there isn't there any divide of Korean and Chinese members, instead the Chinese members openly are proud of their language, hometown and culture.

TMI: Seventeen is really close with SM groups, specially with Nct and Exo. And when Seventeen debuted, everyone thought that they were a SM group due to the high quality vocals, dance, rap and visuals, so they were called 'SM hidden group'. Performance unit, in my opinion, is composed with the members that are considered more 'all rounded' so yup, Performance unit is a problem for everyone's bias. Hoshi released his solo 'Spider' this year, but it's not an official solo debut. He have some covers in Seventeen KZbin channel. Jun also have solo work, a lot of covers and his solo (with MV) 'Silent boarding gate', released also this year, and Crow. Also, this year he is back into acting! He was casted as the male lead for the Cdrama 'Exclusive Fairytale' and he is currently in China recording it (He and The8 are in China since October and they'll stay until December) The8 also have solo work, mostly dance/contemporary covers and his solos 'Dreams come true' and 'Falling down' Dino have solos, but they are on SoundCloud, 'Zero' and 'The Real Thing', but here on KZbin he have his own dance cover series (Danceologys), we would love to see your reaction to them!

Hi Austin I’m in the middle of Jun’s part hahah but to answer what you commented yes they do treat their Chinese members well, obviously there’s always room for improvement with Pledis in therms of promotions (for example their solos) but that’s has always been a topic with the group not only with China Line They do promote SVT well but like I said there’s always room for improvement hahaha Tbh they did get lesser lines in the early songs of the group bc of their Korean i think but as of rn SVT is known to have the fairest line distributions Oh and a little TMI or maybe update if you watch stuff from the recent cb or recent stuff on twitter and you only count 11 members China Line is rn in their home country doing promotions (actually Jun is filming a C-Drama and he’s the lead!!! And The8 doing endorsements with brands and recently filming a traditional dance show!!!) and visiting their families since they have not seen each other in almos 2 years (world tour since 2019- early 2020 and the pandemic) They’ve been there since September and are expected to return this December not specific date but don’t worry before leaving they re-signed their contracts, MONTHS in advance!!!, since they are close to celebrate 7 years, a lot of speculation, about this sudden stay of 4 months in China, can be done by media and antis so not only Carats were glad Jun and Minghao are finally spending time with their families but also bc that was a way of SVT to assure us that they are still going and going strong, since I think they are one of the largest groups to beat that 7 years curse without a change of line up or a member leaving As of rn Carats have been missing a lot seeing them as OT13 and the members miss them a lot too they always talk about them and china line talks about them too (for example The8 during his bday vlive or random lives by the members or on weverse or interviews), they tell us they talk daily and even get mad if they don’t hahaha 🥺

Jun and The8 are currently in China now but should be back by either the beginning of next year or sometime in December this year. Jun is currently filming a drama in China and it will air sometime next year and the pics he upload about it on twitter and Instagram are so cute. The8 is doing a lot of brand deals and spending family time in China as well. China line were booked busy this year.

Ahh the Performance unit! Minghao is my top in this unit but they are all incredible. When you finish the guide, you should check out Seventeen's Rolling Stone "In My Room" performance. Each unit performed one of their unit songs and Performance Unit KILLED it! It's a great way to hear more of their vocal ability.

I've been waiting for this reaction. Here for all the performance unit and Dino love. All of the seventeen members have done solo performances in concerts! Jun, Hoshi and The8 have released solo MVs earlier this year, they have very different vibes but are all great in their own way, I recommend checking them out down the line. Silent boarding gate (Jun), Spider (Hoshi) and Side by side (The8). And please "suffer" through Dino's dancelogy, he published two more choreographies since the guide was released, and both of them are incredible. He has a very distinct dance style and is such a joy to watch. As a dancer I admire him very much and learn a lot from the way he moves. (Yes, Dino is my ult lol.) Can't wait for you to continue your seventeen journey, the vocal unit is easily the funniest in seventeen, they are one big serotonin boost. You're bound to love them!

Fun fact, Seventeen is the first idol group with foreign members in which all members from the original lineup renewed their contract (they all resigned their contracts this year before it ended in 2022!! 🥳). So maybe our Chinese members have had better treatment than Chinese idols from other groups, plus the Korean members have really taken them under their wings so Jun and The8 fortunately decided to stay in Seventeen for the long run again. I feel like most carats would agree that Pledis could do a better job promoting their solo activities to international fans but at least they have had a fair amount of freedom to release solo projects although mainly in China (solo songs, covers, variety shows). In the first albums SVT released, they barely had any lines, but their lines have increased with each album, to the point that the distribution the last 2-3 years is really good. All in all, the treatment is not perfect, but it has improved. Also, Jun and The8 are now in China since October I think, after being in Korea and not seeing their families for about 2 years. So us carats are actually happy they get to be home for now. Jun is starring in a drama among other projects, and Minghao is in a dance variety show. But we feel confident that they will return to SK and rejoin their activities with SVT in January 2022. Pledis better not pull a Lay on us.

All of their solo activities are A GIFT - performance unit took their title very seriously, not one is "just" a dancer. Hoshi is one of _the_ best dancers in kpop (as voted by fellow idols! he came 2nd after tied Kai and Momo) and everything about "Spider" is perfection. Jun has a bunch of solo stuff ("Silent Boarding Gate" still kills me) and he is still acting! He's filming or just finished a c-drama. The8 has an adorable solo "Side by Side" and his Contemporary ART series is stunning and so so creative. And I think *everyone* would love if you did Dino's Danceology series! They're all pretty short and show different sides of him as a dancer and choreographer ("Sucker" and "Thin White Lies" are my favorites) sn: penguin!Kyungsoo as the angel on top of the tree 😙👌

Omg I didn't expect to see the clip with Yanan :( Yanan is the Chinese member of Pentagon (another self-producing genius talented group but wayyy too under-appreciated) and he was on hiatus for over a year due to mental health problems. in the case of Seventeen, Chinese members Jun & The8 are treated well and fairly. They take part in various promotions, programs and OST and release their solo songs in Chinese. From September to the end of the year, Jun and The8 are in China focusing on their work there - Jun is currently shooting a drame. The members are very close and support each other, learn Chinese (Dino 💕) and release their songs also in Chinese.

i love to see you enjoying dino as a performer!! hes one of the best in the industry and idk if someone already talked about this but he's been dancing basically his whole life! his dad is a dancer too, so he taught him and there are clips from a show (i dont remember the name :() where he was like 6 years old and you can see in one clip that his dad uses music to wake little dino up and he literally starts dancing first as soon as he hears the song😭 he was also in a talent show, there's a video where hoshi talks about how he was watching tv as a kid and dino showed up in a talent show and he (hoshi) thought "wow, this kid is going to be famous"😭 its so crazy that they ended up in the same group

I think the difference between SM chinese idols and seventeen china line is that Seventeen are close and care for each other, they are really like brothers and that's why recently they signed their contracts continuing for another 10 years. Even SCoups mentioned that they don't really care about the companies but seventeen bondship is what they really are for.

All of the SVT members are multi-talented, but I truly think Hoshi and Dino are the most well-rounded members. They are both insanely talented dancers and performers, but also they are amazing singers and rappers. They are also choreographers, songwriters and composers. Not to mention both are extremely charismatic, funny and visuals. The performance unit is known to be extremely ambitious and it shows through everything they do! dino has been my bias since the second i got to know the members. his dance ability and stage presence are nearly unrivaled to me, and he is also such a good rapper, singer, and such a funny and cute member. he's appealing in every way and is adore him so much.. and yeah, you're not the only one who has a thing for his thighs 😭

THANKS TO MINGHAO seventeen and carat really have platonic love relationship..we love and support each other in healthy ways. Since nowadays fans tend to fanatic and obssesive with their bias, but seventeen really teach carat how to not put seventeen as their everything cuz carat's life more important and i really love that..maybe thats how carats fandom rarely have akgae (like 1 member and hate the others) and extreme sasaeng (fans behave like stalker)

You’ll get to know soon how each of the members from svt are all-rounders…they all just know how to sing, dance n rap n rlly good at it! pls it's the way I KNEW you would like dino HAHA idk if it was just me projecting because I absolutely adore him and always feel so proud when people give him the props he deserves but I had a feeling he might be a problem for you lol. Also yeah DK stunning, gorgeous, flawless, sexy so glad we're on the same page for that! For the china line question, I've seen some other comments explaining but just thought I'd add my two cents. I think, personally, out of all the groups that I know with foreign and specfically Chinese members, seventeen definitely treats them the best now. When they first debuted they really did not get very many lines or opportunities but I think you can see a HUGE change in both Minghao and Jun becuase svt grew up so much and now you can see their personalities a lot more and they're way more comfortable with korean. They have been able to do so many other projects outside of seventeen whether it be music or programs in china or minghao having an exhibition with Mingyu. And they have both improved dramatically in their vocals and get way more screentime and lines and I think you can really see how much they grew in seventeen! Also, a pretty big deal, before they left for China a few months ago to do individual schedules every single member resigned their contract EARLY. Which is practically unheard of for a group this big and especially with chinese members. So I think that is a pretty good indicator for me that are all being treated pretty well and you can definitely tell the members adore them. Also just with seventeen in general, since they've always been self producing they obviously had more control to a certain degree probably than some other rookie groups, but you can really see as they've become bigger and bigger seniors that they have gotten so much more say in everything, not just the music. Anways, that was so long, all to say seventeen really love each other so much and personally I don't think you can find the bond they have anywhere else in kpop and I'm super excited youre checking them out and loving them!

Most fans call hime Minghao but it doesn't really matter which one you call him. I personally tend to call him Myungho a lot (his Korean name)
