also seungkwan isn't very underappreciated at all, at the very least outside of the fandom (but he could always use more love ofc, he's my bias lol)! he's probably seventeen's most well known and loved members in Korea. he's friends with like every idol and famously a lot of older female idols (ie all of Afterschool, Taeyeon, even IU) have supported him or taken him under their wing! He is basically one of the 3rd gen variety masters. There was one day where he was on a variety show on every major tv station at around the same time and Vernon said he couldn't change channels without seeing his face lol, he's hilarious and an incredible singer! would also highly recommend checking out all of booseoksoon on their performances of king of masked singer, as well as seungkwan and DK's live performance of their duet "Say Yes" Also when u get to know the group a little better, their 5th anniversary video is really really funny, it's them all dressing up with each other and impersonating each other! There are a lot of inside jokes so maybe not anytime soon, but just to keep in mind!

and yes seungkwan is the best technical vocalist! he produces pretty consistent resonance and can support up to an A4 i believe, but he consistently sounds really amazing and is probably one of the best 3rd gen male vocalists outside of exo and btob in that regard

For me personally I feel like he kinda is underappreciated, at least in the fandom. It's true that he is widely recognised and well liked across South Korea and knows almost the whole industry XD But it feels as though Carats sometimes do not appreciate his vocals. This is not to say that we don't know that he has it, but everyone always talks about his variety skills but never mentions his vocals. There are rarely any videos stating him as a bias or even doing anything like pointing him out.

i cannot explain how glad I am you are getting into seventeen, they are definitely one of the most talented (musically and comedicaly) groups of all time! Not sure if you said or not but would highlyyyy recommend you watch Going Seventeen! It used to be a kind of vlog, behind the scenes type show but in about mid 2019? they began to make their own concepts and ideas for it until it became a variety show! It's so popular that other idols and non-carats/Kpop fans watch and reference it frequently, it even aired on JBTC the popular Korean TV station, and quite a few episodes have gone super viral on social media ("The Tag", "Don't Lie" a spin on the mafia game that is hilarious, etc). It really starts picking up in 2020 but it's a really great way of getting to know the group and I think you would really enjoy it!

re: Seungkwan's technique, I just rewatched their predebut show and they talked a lot about how hard he worked to find a way to stay healthy and keep his voice's tone without hurting himself. I think he really HAD to learn good technique in order to be able to keep singing. re: girl groups, his #1 group is Wonder Girls but he really truly just loves all girl groups, and kpop in general. Including After School! when they reunited on MMTG, Seungkwan was an MC for the live show and you could see how emotional he was. He's a very precious boy. re: underrated, it really depends. He's one of the most well-known members of the group in Korea, because he does so much variety and tv appearances. So he's v popular in that respect, but I do think ppl tend to focus on his entertainment skills and not him as a singer/idol and an artist. I'm really enjoying your Seventeen reactions!! it's deeply reminiscent of how I got into them - I listened to Thanks, liked it fine and went about my life for another 9/10 months, and then fall 2018 I went back to them and I was head over heels, 0 to 100 in the space of a single week and they've been my top group ever since. it's really true that you find them when you're ready for them!

To answer your questions regarding Seventeen fans and solo stans. From my expiriance, Carats is one of the nicest fandoms I've seen. The fans tend to be chill and understanding for the most part and I haven't personally come across too many instances of solo stans for Seventeen. I think its because the group itself functions and works as a full group for the most part and the members themselves have constantly brought up and shown the importance of teamwork, communication, and helping each other out, so I feel like it's hard to "stan" one member only when the member themselves would often talk about being part of the group and the group itself. But like all fandoms, there's always going to be a few bad apples so I'm sure there are toxic solo stans out there. Also, idk how anyone has 1 bias in groups with over 10 members. Like, I say Jeonghan is my bias in Seventeen, but I also really bias Jun, Seungkwan, and basically every other member has wrecked me and climbed to the top at one point or another. As for Seungkwan's vocal training, Idk if he had any training prior to entering the company but he definitely had a very powerful voice before he started his idol training. In fact, he was recruited because his teacher had posted a video of him singing at a school event and the company saw it and reached out to him. I'm sure he improved a lot with training but I feel like a voice like his, isn't one that comes out just from training alone, he was definitely gifted with some amazing vocal ability. Actually, I don't know what his parent's feed their children because both his sisters are also great singers as well (though neither work in the music industry). Also, SEUNGKWAN IS PLEDIS ARTISTS BIGGEST CHEERLEADER. He doesn't hesitate to promote any Pledis music and definitely loves After School. He was the one who brought up After School on MMTG when they discussed older hits and it ultimately lead to After School to reunite and perform "Bang!" Earlier this year ong MMTG (along with some other older 2nd gen/ early 3rd gen groups).

Oh how I love how Seungkwan moved up to your potential bias just like that! Fortunately, he's actually not under-appreciated (generally). Even if you ask people who are not Carats to recognize SVT members, majority of them would be able to name Seungkwan properly. Tried and tested in Korea... Also, Chen has named him as one of the vocalists he commends. DK is actually the one who was trained more professionally since he is a musical actor. Played as King Arthur on XCalibur 2019 and 2021. DK and Seungkwan are our pride of main vocals! Both of them are more than great. Words arent enough to describe how amazing they are. Personally, I think DK's vocals is perfect for musicals, powerful and wide-ranged. While Seungkwan's is perfect for OSTs, impactful and emotionally striking.

svt has very few toxic solo stans (akgaes) compared to some other groups, and most of those are antis pretending to be akgaes (at least on twitter)! most carats are ot13 because seventeen are a family, a package deal ❤️ you're right, they love each other so much (call each others' parents their own parents, hang out with said parents who aren't theirs, call each other real brothers, grew up living together) it's very very very hard not to love them as one big unit

someone has probably already said this before, but to add emphasis on just how much the svt members genuinely like and care about each other-- they ALL renewed their contracts this year, every single 13 of them. looking back on kpop's track record this is pretty much unheard of for big groups like this, unfortunately it's usually common for one or more of the members to leave once contracts expire when it comes to larger groups.

I really love them and Carats are just super sweet and supportive without causing problems to the group! I think it important to know that unlike other fandoms Carats won't be upset by mutilple biases, because in this fandom we all have mutil-biases and those too change every day, so no one is going to blame you for changing to a different member every time, since we all live through this with SVT all the time... simply put a bias in SVT is whoever is on screen in that moment lol Another thing to note is that these guides were in unit order but I thought you might want to know age order too: Scoups, Jeonghan, Joshua (1995 line), Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi (1996 line), Mingyu, The8, DK (1997 line), Seungkwan, Vernon (1998), Dino (1999 - maknae) Another fun fact Vernon and DK are born on the same date (Feb 18) obviously in different years, so maybe your bias ae people born on that date lol In SVT while they are all fans of Shinee, Hoshi has been a Shawol since he was young and they are the reason he wanted to become an idol. I love how you pointed out that technically, Seungkwan is vocally the most proficient in the group because I usually see other people say otherwise. Since DK has an incredibly wide range, it is a bit easier for him to hit higher notes and to transition to falsetto (i loooove his runs, they sound so smooth and natural). But since they debuted, Seungkwan has shown the most support with his voice and has a fairly good technique among 3rd gen vocalists. He's known as a variety-dol (he does great in variety shows), but I hope he gains more recognition as a vocalist 😭😭

I’ve been a Carat since 2017 and I’ve never met a solo stan, I’m sure they exist but I really think that the fact that it is 13 member group deters those kind of stans. Seventeen themselves are super close, if you ever look back on old training videos they literally grew up together. Plus fanwars don’t really happen, the fandom has such good relationships with other fandoms. Seventeen speaks so highly and is constantly mentioning other idols plus they never get into drama so that stuff just doesn’t happen.

Every time I introduce Seventeen to someone they always end up loving them whether it's by their music, their performance, or their comedic sense. For toxic solo stans, I've been a fan since pre-debut but so far I haven't encountered one thou they have a lot of sasaengs. Maybe some toxic shippers in twitter but for solo stans I haven't seen much but I'm sure there are some out there. All fandoms would always have some toxic fans and Seventeen is no exception to that. I do think it's because they have a lot of content and always show their chemistry as a team or with each other. And even if they have solo schedules they always promote Seventeen with them so it's really hard to separate the members to the Seventeen brand itself. jihoon actually started as a classical musician (he plays the clarinet mostly) but he stopped because his lungs wasn't in a great condition (i've heard this before just not sure if it's entirely true?) and is not fit to continue doing wind instruments that much (because he's been small since he was young)

Honestly, for you to decide your bias/biases you would need to watch lots of their content, like going seventeen, in the soop, one fine day etc, because you only got a glimpse of their personality and some members guide were more superficial than others, so it’s kind o unbalanced lol. One of the biggest reasons why After School was able to do a reunion performance was because Seungkwan was a guest on MMTG and kept raving about how much he loved them. There's a whole pool of content of just Seungkwan and his love for old school girl groups😂 He also did like 3 vlives called ‘We Remember Kpop’ that are like 2 hours long where he listens and talks about his favorite kpop songs of all times, and he never once promotes SVT on there, he just really loves kpop! A little clarification for the Beyonce and Adele comments during Seungkwan's part, for an episode of Going Seventeen they did their MBTI testing, and Mingyu was reading out what celebrities have the same MBTI type as them. Seungkwan was asking if Adele and Beyonce were hs same MBTI type because he likes them so much! While we don't anymore, back in 2015 carats used to call Seungkwan Booyonce lol I've seen maybe three or four insane solo stans in my seven years as a carat and they're so easy to identify and block that they don't even matter. Also on a Seungkwan note, Chen once said on radio star that he liked Seungkwan as a singer! Vocal kings! I'm so happy that you're reacting to Seventeen, because they're so lovely, and I think that everyone should have a group like Seventeen in their life. seungkwan loves literally all the girl groups. actually he was the reason after school had a performance together this year on mmtg where he was also the mc. during their performance he was so cute cheering and even crying:( (hes a baby as expected svt's maknae line) what's interesting he's the social butterfly in svt (ngl all the milfs love him, kahi from after school literally said she will protect him) and has the whole kpop industry wrapped around his finger. you wont find a group among the most popular ones that isnt familiar with him. he is really popular in korea and always takes the lead in promoting svt's comebacks. during rock with you comeback he has been apprearing on korean tv almost everyday. he has one of the best voices in kpop (many kpop idols have mentioned his vocals like exo's chen) and hes in charge of most of the highnotes in svt's song, OST KING. anyways sorry for ranting but he's my ult so i can't help it ;/ good luck with finding your bias in svt, based on your previous videos i really didnt think you would notice seungkwan so i was a little surpised ngl. but you're right it is so hard to pick a bias in this group. everyone is so precious, funny and talented as soon as i got into them they became ults and havent been letting me go for some time now. looking forward to your journey with seventeen!!

im an exo stan too and i think its been almost 4 months already i've been stanning seungkwan. beside exo, i've never stanning this hard lol. seungkwan just different, he's such a great vocalist, cute, funny, has a good personality. outside of exo (for boy groups idols), seungkwan amazing vocals attracted me the most. The emotions that he gave, the technics and vocal skills really really really amazing. Sometimes i can saw baek in him (this is my opinion lol). They all have that ring and wear in all the time. Most have commented that they never take it off. It’s a ring that represents the group and they all seem to cherish it, you might have seen their chant before shows in which most groups put their hands together. Seventeen puts their rings together. Finally the last unit! I had the chance to see DK in Xcaliber in September here in Seoul because he reprised his role and can confirm, he was INCREDIBLE; his voice is so well suited for musical theater. But yes, it is almost impossible to pick one bias in SVT so I would say just don't haha have as many biases as you want! Every member of SVT is amazing. Also others have suggested it, but Going Seventeen is a great way to get to know their personalities & to see how they interact with one another because their relationships with one another is what really made me a Carat. There's a lot of episodes but there are fan made compilations videos! If you want a visual attack, I'd suggest the Going Seventeen 2020 #46 video because wow... the looks in that video are too much.

Ok so heres the thing, SEVENTEEN is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of what a music producing kpop group should look like, in each n every aspect, literally everything. Their music, production and their hand in it, discography, talent, passion, teamwork, hardwork everything is on point. Their relation with themselves, their company(also not very worrisome coz they got all their hands on everything), with fans all is so so healthy, I haven't seen this much greatness is any of the other kpop. I haven't encountered any toxic solo stan or even a toxic carat, SVT teaches us so well to love ourselves and people around us. They are so so close to each other that they say that they've got 13pairs of parents, they are all family and nothing can break their bond. They renewed their contract recently breaking record for a big group with lots of members to break the 7year curse. Their bond with carats is so pure and friendly, we roast each other and also care of each other at the same time. When S.Coups introduces himself he says that he's general leader of SVT and CARATS, there is all so love and positivity stanning SVT. You laugh with them, you cry with them, you love with them. And don't worry about the bias and stuff, I change them daily, just like with EXO. I so happy and excited that you are getting into them Austin and m telling you there is no going back and you will never regret it, you will feel loved for sure

Aw, this was great to watch, it's always a pleasure when people are serious about learning a new group, like you are! Looking forward to seeing how your "bias line" (lol, as everyone has with svt) develops! The guide can only cover so much, for example it mentioned "booseoksoon" (Seungkwan, DK, Hoshi) as a subunit a lot but it didn't really introduce them well because the most important thing is NOT that they released a single, it's that they organically formed as a trio because they're the most hype, energetic, goofy members who always egg each other on to hilarious result. 😁 That oversight might wind up making a difference for you since you do like funny members, we didn't even really get started with how funny they are! Though honestly, all of Seventeen is funny in their own way, they're just a comedic group (who yes, are often funny by loving mockery of each other)! 😂 I'll let other people leave comedic recs though (can't pick!) and actually say I think now would be a great time for you to watch a series of unit songs? Since you just learned about them as units and the unit songs have more time to feature each individual voice! I think you'd really enjoy seeing the Change Up (special leader unit!) + Trauma, Lilili Yabbay, Pinwheel series of unit MVs they released along with the Teen, Age album. Also, something I really appreciated seeing as a new fan was just _how_ involved Woozi and Hoshi are in the music and dance production of the group. There's a lot of kpop groups who have a hand in production (and it's no slight to the groups who don't!) but as a long time fan of kpop, I found it really impressive how integral Woozi was/is in the foundation of their musical sound (alongside Bumzu, who is a fellow artist himself) and just how much Hoshi contributes to the choreography (though they do also have professional choreographers!). So I would say you should watch something like "Seventeen Woozi in the Studio/Woozi as Seventeen producer" compilations and maybe something like "Seventeen Hoshi as Choreographer". I think that's super interesting no matter who your bias is. (Though also, as time has gone on, more members have added on to their contributions in those areas too [Vernon composing and Dino choreographing, for example].) Continuing watching more MVs you haven't seen (you've seen a lot of early ones already so maybe filling in the gaps and going chronologically now might make sense!) and funny vids is a good plan too though! You really can't go wrong, however you want to be introduced more to Seventeen will work! 💕 Hope you enjoy your continuing journey with them! 👍

its funny because your top three bias: Dino, Seungkwan and DK is the most underappreciated members so you are right about saying Seungkwan being that (but not in South Korea tho he's the most popular there, he gets a lot of covers, osts and is fully booked in variety shows). It's not that seventeen has a lot of solo stans but I think these three is the least biased members, so I really thank you for appreciating these three just as much as you appreciate the other members. If u asked "does this group have toxic solo stans? my answer is absolutely not. I'm a carat since late 2016 and I know other idol groups as well. If i can say seventeen is a group that has 'same fans in every member' you know what i mean right? Seventeen doesn't have a solo stan, which really only hyping only one member. Fans really love every member. In almost 5 years of being a carat, I've never come across a toxic solo stan. Because I know other idol groups might actually hype just one member, and that makes my heart sad. so I really like and proud of carat because I think they (carats) really support all of seventeen members. You mentioned you liked DK's ring at 42:34 (The silver pinky ring) and there's a concept behind that. So actually all the seventeen members wear that ring which they received it during their debut from their company. They always wear it and you can see it as proof in every video that they wear that ring and even when they are not before the camera. They even used those rings as the album cover for the Don't wanna cry album. They changed the design during the years but yes they never remove it and always wear it. All SVT members have a 💕 ring which means they belong to SVT and they never take them off even when they do solo activities. They got the ring for the first time before their debut, becoming an official member of SVT, later they change it with the release of the full album. On their yt channel you can watch the video when they change the rings, very touching video. (era- Fear | An Ode 2019) Woozi has his solo - What Kind of Futute I consider to be one of the best songs 💕 Woozi can also play the guitar. DK can cook what you can see in their various videos. in 2021, DK played for the second time in the musical King Arthur Seungkwan is definitely not a shy person ☺ SVT does what it believes is best for them both as a team and as individual members. oh God, I got so emotional watching your reactions, it's as if I could reminiscence the way I also fell for seventeen... I miss that feeling of watching their content and listening to their music for the first time so I get very happy when I see someone else's journey of getting into them, it makes me nostalgic lol. Now, some things I wanted to point out in your video, it's funny to me how I saw you mistake Jeonghan for Joshua at the beginning because it actually happens a lot, also during DK's part when you mentioned the traits you like in a bias and said "cooking", well, DK is indeed a good cook according to SVT, actually our "chef line" is mingyu, jun and DK (they even have a song called "Hello", it's beautiful). Just an FYI, it's pretty common to call DK "Dokyeom" his full stage name :) And for Seungkwan, I'm very pleased to see you praising his vocal skills because for me, he is just unbelievably talented. There is one clip of Radio Star show where Chen (my fav kpop vocalist overall) named Seungkwan (my fav SVT vocalist) as a vocalist he approved of, I was over the moon!!! And that part where you got emotional because he went out of his way to ask that show to invite SVT, I actually teared up as well, because if there is someone who has worked REALLY hard to get SVT to be known, it's Boo Seunkwan. He would never miss a chance to promote his group and he has been doing this since the very beginning, good thing he is very extroverted lol When you get to know all the things these kids have been doing since pre-debut to get the group to where it is today, believe me, you will love them even more! Seventeen make me so happy - they make me laugh SO much, their songs can comfort me or make me dance in my kitchen, their dancing and performances are a joy to watch, and the "cute" section of their set list was genuinely the most fun I have ever had at a concert - and I hope they'll bring some of that same joy to you. I've encountered very few Carats who have only one bias, so we feel your pain. It took me six months to settle on three lol. Maybe you'll end up biasing the maknae line (Seungkwan, Dino, Vernon)! Responses to a few of your comments/questions: - Woozi does NOT like aegyo lmao. He's naturally pretty cute but tends to be more serious. In one of the subtitles I think you missed, he said that he was grateful to the members because they are the biggest fans of his music, and something about that is so lovely and touching to me. - You commented on DK's ring - I can't see it clearly, but I think it's his Seventeen ring. The members have matching rings they were given by the company at debut, and it carried a lot of meaning for them. You'll see the rings pretty often, usually on their pinkies, and they tend to get a new design when they release a full album. Interestingly, I haven't encountered fans trying to reproduce and sell these to other Carats - there seems to be a consensus that we should let the ring be their thing. - Seungkwan loves Beyonce and Adele. They were discussing MBTIs in that clip, and Seungkwan really wanted them to have the same MBTI as him and was disappointed when they weren't on the list lol. He is also a huge fan of kpop and refers to himself as the kpop professor. He's done some really long vlives where he plays mostly songs from older artists that he thinks people should know and appreciate. (He also dominates "name the song based on one second of music" type games!) - Seungkwan is the best known member in South Korea, but a lot of those people know him for being funny, not for his vocals, sadly. (there are also people who know Seventeen as a whole for being funny - enough that there is now a name for someone who watches SVT's variety show Going Seventeen for the entertainment value but doesn't listen to their music. They are "cubics" instead of carats!) But he and DK are the two main vocalists for good reason! - Carats use stage names a lot more than some other fandoms. So you'll see some people say Jihoon, but more use Woozi (who introduces himself with both pronunciations - woozy and oo-ji - depending on the audience, so I think both are fair game). Most international fans seem to use Minghao, but The8 (or even his Korean name Myungho, which is what the members mostly call him) is fine. I believe DK and Vernon have said they prefer fans to use their stage names, so I do not use their real names (Seokmin and Hansol) at all. Joshua's actual and stage name is Joshua, so you'll see Shua and Josh but not as much of his Korean name (Jisoo).

These guys are the epitome of fun. They just are so much happiness and joy. I pulled a Jeonghan and cheated in picking a SVT bias. I decided to pick a member from each team and a wild card because one bias is IMPOSSIBLE: Hip Hop = Wonwoo (won-oo), Performance = Minghao/The8 (Ming-how), Vocal = DK and Hoshi as my wild card after Spider changed my life 😂. SVT have so much content. Going Seventeen is always a blast. You should definitely do the unit MVs and their dance practices are AMAZING (Pretty U, Happy Ending, Oh My, Good to Me and Snap Shoot are some faves). DK IS MY BIAS. He is pure and innocent. His voice is very very amazing and precious. P.s. Dokyeom and Seungkwan is main vocalist of seventeen. The rest of member is lead vocalist but they are also angelic voice.
