Girl with tourettes here, i completely agree lets just see how TLC handles it, and maybe they will point out that she is a rare case. We will see, and thanks for your input!!

i have tics very similar to baylen’s and while im excited to see myself in someone in the media, i really hope it doesn’t just make a joke out of it.

I really hope they do it some justice. I personally don't have or know anyone with this condition but I enjoy being properly educated on it. Thank you Carly and I look forward to seeing many more of your videos 😊🩷

I dont have much faith in tlc tbh. I hope it helps humanize and educate, but they usually sensationalize and exploit instead.

I love your videos, carly . You are always interesting. Tourrettes is the most misunderstood disorder out there

Hmm maybe autism has some competition for that lol (not to diminish anyone's struggles)

It’s quite possible that people will see Baylen’s tics and then associate then with anyone that has Tourette’s syndrome, though perhaps there will be a more dampened effect on the widespread misinformation and perception now that more people are more acquainted with the disorder as well as the resources to learn. But that may be overshooting it considering how quick people are to see and say without anything else behind their actions or words.

I got to see them filming while we were at the Tourette Association of America's Annual conference and even got called back later in the evening for filming a section, so I may or may not be in a clip. I really do hope that the editors show a good side of someone's experience with TS, but honestly with TLC you never know- especially since they filmed at a Tourette conference where everyone's tics were amped up. They definitely love the drama factor and everything, so fingers crossed.

TLC will now mean Tourette's Lie Company lol

Given that TLC used to be The Learning Channel and showed actual documentaries before descending into cesspool of "Reality" tv, I'm pretty confident that middle and high schools will have an explosion of kids self-diagnosing with Tourettes. Also, for those who don't know, "Reality" tv is created in the editing room. I had a friend on The Biggest Loser who was shocked by all the drama and rivalry in the final product. "We all really liked each other and supported each other. That's not what happened at ALL." Stop for a moment and ask yourself why you're watching 90 Day Fiancee rather than a legit documentary about relationships and/or psychology. And be honest with your answer.

Sadly, I don't think TLC will help on any stigmas against anything. Isn't that channel mostly just for "normal" people to look at us "freaks"? I hope it was just a bad trailer, but my hopes aren't high ngl I don't have a tic disorder, but I have DID which is also horrendously portrayed in media and it has brought me some struggles irl with people just not getting it or even thinking it is "interesting" and asking weird invasive questions. I wanna be more open about my DID since it is a disorder that affects me constantly, but honestly often I just say I have PTSD to avoid misunderstandings. I have so much respect for people like you Carly and other disabled people who make content online where they are open about their conditions ❤ That stuff must be so hard with how cruel the internet can be. Thank you for your videos ❤

I totally agree 100% I’ve been thinking about what to do my first KZbin video on my Tourette’s channel and I’d love to be a brother channel to yours💗 I definately think this aspect needs to be discussed more in depth.

I saw the commercial and I felt like they were almost trying to make it humorous, and after watching what you go through that seems like that’s going to do sufferers a huge disservice.

Ohh that looks so awful I'm worried these people are gonna edit these recordings to make her look bad or a laughing stock. I think my faith is at 0% with this one, TLC doesn't have a great reputation

Yes our "i got rice" queen posted! ❤ also you dropped a pin may i keep it? Also i would say depends on the show on TLC because sometimes it is good sometimes it is bad but i would say it sounds good and i hope they don't make it comedic and explain how hard tourettes is and what it is for people watching it looking information

People’s tics vary hugely between individuals and I’m worried that it will misrepresent people with tics and people will try to compare other people’s tics with baylens tics. I really hope that it isn’t like a comedy or lighthearted otherwise it will do more harm than good

It's difficult to live with and I'm afraid they won't represent the difficulties and won't represent the suppression that sooo many people don't understand. I suppress around people automatically and they are much worse at home, the severity can absolutely be hidden but the general public thinks every case is 100% irrepressible. Neurologic tics typically have some level of suppressibility that can be enhanced by things like social pressure, focus, etc. Varies by person though.

I'm 75 and I had a schoolmate in 1st grade who had a tic when we'd stand online. I just thought that's what she did and it was "neat". There are lots of people with degrees of turrets, some caused by medications. It is not off putting, nor should it be.

Don’t worry, hardly anyone has cable in the United States anymore and TLC has always been known for the last 20 years as a smut network. We all know they’re playing it up worse than what it should be had no idea it was even a thing until this video popped up in the algorithm.

I really hope TLC looks at Tourette's and talks about with experts in regards to the syndrome. I've never really cared for TLC especially with the Duggar's and Honey Boo Boo. They tend towards the dysfunctional aspects of people's lives and I really, really hope they don't do that with the Dupree family.

Honey... don't worry about a damn thing. Tell your haters to F**K OFF. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE NOT. YOU NO WHAT YOU HAVE ANDBWHAT YOU DON'T HAVE. DON'T LET OTHER PEOPLE'S WORDS OR OPTIONS GET TO YOU OR BOTHER YOU. THERE WORD'S AND WORD'S DON'T HURT YOU. DON'T LET IT BOTHER YOU. WELL.. APPARENTLY THERE IN IT FOR THE MONEY AND NOT THE AWARENESS OF IT. SORRY YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT. WE GOT UR BACK THOUGH❤😊❤😊

TLC and sensation goes hand in hand. I watched the trailer and I'm not gonna watch the show. I don't think it will be a good representation of Tourette's. They choose a severe case of the syndrome just for show.

I don't have skin in this game, I don't know anyone with Tourette's and don't suffer from it myself, I just want to say that I have found that most of these "reality" show channels are exploitive (JMNSO/YYMV). I have found no redeeming value in anything that these shows present. That said, I really enjoyed your video and looked at some other ones and I've learned quite a bit (thank you) and I hope that this show does not reflect poorly on you or your community.
