All I can say is Im African descent, born in the 60's have perpetually experienced every form of racism, particularly violent or anti-progression racism (which is why I stopped working for others) even from other ethnics whom are also victims of racism. On the plus side it motivated me to start training in martial arts (since 1972) & Im 60 6'2 120kg lean mean, with skills & every type of combat experience. All of the famous racists & their crews I have punked up & down the country for decades (political activist, antifascist activist, photo/citizen-journalist). I have been in countless sticky situations & remain unscathed, even though the racists have put my face on their "stab pages" I have yet to be compelled to use that particular skillset, most likely a street thug will test me when Im 80+

I'm not following your train of thought. Training martial arts is not going to stop racism, it isn't even your fault. What you should've done is created a MOVEMENT way back when, with other black men, there's plenty of books on how to do it and demanded change.

There are women of all races and skin tones named Karen. Everybody knows why the name Karen is used and what type of behavior it is referring to. Nobody is referencing anyone named Karen in particular who doesn't act like rude entitled idiots. And just because you don't witness or see something happening doesn't mean that it doesn't. I don’t see drug deals going down, gang bangers, domestic violence, millionaires, etc.. That doesn't mean they aren't there or that these things don't happen because I didn't see it. My mother is Asian and you can see that in me. I don't know where you grew up in the UK but in the 70s and 80s Derbyshire where i grew up was far from brutal for Ethnics. I experienced very little racism and at my school there were only 3 black lads 1 Indian lad and myself. Two of the black lads were probably the most popular in my year., I saw or experienced hardly any racism at that comprehensive school. If you watch re runs of 1980s top of the pops even then 50% of the acts are black. The UK of the 80s you are talking about I do not recognise and after having travelled all over the world it is still the least racist country I have known and that's why I still live here.
@DonnieWong72
@DonnieWong72 11 күн бұрын
The racism I experienced was in Bedford from around 81-84, and I was going to a prestigious boys’ school, which I’ve since learned has had many reports of racism over the years, and I’ve also heard that it was a military town. i was one of the only Chinese were many South Asians who also got abused daily. But before and after this period I lived in Nottingham, Manchester and London and encountered zero racism, so I agree with you overall that the UK is very progressive and tolerant compared to other countries, except in those certain small anomalous pockets if you’re unlucky enough.

@MichaelWadhwania The riots of the 80s were because of perceived unfair treatment of minorities by the police not racism from the average man in the street. The riots of 2024 were because the establishment and the police now treat certain minorities better than the British natives and because of certain events. None of this takes away from my lived experience as a half Asian man growing up in the 70s and 80s.

@BobTheBuilder-l9d Stop making excuses. There was no reason for the riots old or new, other than hatred and racism. The current ones let Nigel Farage, a failed brexiter and the criminal Tommy Ten Names Robinson whip then into a dim-witted frenzy over blatant disinformation.
