Jenna Ortega trained herself not to blink while performing for this show. The whole performance is great, but that piece of trivia is fun to keep in mind while watching her on the screen!

I believe Gwendoline Christie said in an interview that this was the first time she was cast in a role that made her feel beautiful. I personally thing she's stunning! I met her once and she is the sweetest lady 😍🥰

Yeah, it's her 😊 Jenna learned to play the cello and swordsmanship (as did the actress Bianca, who together made a dueling scene in a single shot) not to mention Enid's actress, who had hours of training to act like a werewolf ❤❤❤❤

Such a great show! Jenna is a fantastic Wednesday. I was really impressed by how she really dove into the character and made it her own. She does alot of acting with her eyes and tiny tiny face movements. Pay attention and you'll notice she rarely ever blinks, and only does so when she's in an uncomfortable situation. Jenna did take Celo lessons for the role. She wasbt playing but learned the techniques to convincing mimic the motions. She did say she wants to learn to play the celo though and is really looking forward to picking up lessons with Season 2.

17:28 yes, she learned to play the cello two months before they started shooting and also learned how to fence. Also Burton wanted Thing to be played by a real person. Victor Dorobantu, a magician, wore a full-coverage blue suit so that his body could be edited out and the set was adjusted to fit him. 😁

In an interview, cast members commented on more than 1 occasion that Tim Burton called Jenna "Dark", enough said. Also, not only did Jenna learn to play the cello, both actors learned to fence and while they were covered, according to the cast, both did the actual fencing. The steam powered Guillotine was never really built.

I love how for the first time ever, they made this strong character vulnerable. This new Wednesday is not scared of monsters, she is scared of her own heart. You can see in her eyes how shocked she was when Enid was screaming at her and how confused or sad she felt when Enid left. She glared defiantly at the teacher, when she told her that she knew she missed Enid and she glared defiantly at the phsycologist when she pointed her out, that a so call "evil" person, wouldn't care for a friend at the hospital. She left herself being hug for the first time ever and she even closed her eyes, maybe in relief to see Enid alive, Wednesday has a soft spot only for her. She is not heartless, she is crazy, a little phsyco and cold but she cares... in her creepy way and is a train of emotions, masked in an emotionless face. In my opinion the scariest and best will always be Christina Ricci, she did not even need to scowl but of course that Jenna, made AN AWSOME AND BADASS PERMORMANCE

As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions. Jenna Ortega learned to play cello and fence for this role. Her prowess as a trained dancer helped with her action sequences so she is the perfect choice. Many newbies to the Addams Family which may have seen the movies with Christina Ricci portraying Wednesday were not aware that the Addams Family started as a comic strip in the New Yorker magazine in the 1920’s which was adapted for tv in the 1960’s. Lisa Loring starred as Wednesday from 1964-1966, she was six years of age when began in that role; Ms. Ricci was 11. Ms. Ortega is 20 and therefore, portraying a teenaged Wednesday which we have not seen since Ms. Loring reprised her role at 18 for a tv movie which was not very good. This likely accounts for the reason we have never seen Wednesday display her current ability. I am ecstatic you are reacting to this series. I loved this first season and so pleased it has been renewed for a season 2.

Fun fact, yes Jenna did learn to play Paint it Black on the Cello. While the show cuts up the play in ways that are not true to form, she did actually learn the entire song. Although there are videos online saying that it can't be done, others have shown that it can.

She did learn to play the cello, although as a fellow cellist I can tell that it isn't actually her playing that. I'm quite sure the music we heard is only possible with editing. And just a minor nitpick, her posture when playing is horrendous.

Yeah there were certain parts they navigated around her through editing and other choices in shots/angles. As a pianist, I see that happen a lot where they cut away just when the actor cannot feasibly play anymore. Regardless it's impressive when actors choose to at least attempt to learn a skill in order to really do the character justice so we're happy regardless! -Denise
