The arguments from beauty/meaning/passion are some of the strongest reasons why people stay loyal to such illogical and immoral ideas/practices. The other strong reasons tend to be family and friend pressures to conform to a particular belief/religion. Those are the most common religious mind traps but of course it's not just religion. Books, art, music, stories of any kinds can be used to influence or control people's emotions and actions. Some of the several reasons but the main one it took for me to figure out religion was/is human-made nonsense &/or bullshit is because as an artist, I've not only witnessed the creation of beautiful, meaningful, and passionate stories/art/music, I've done it myself alone or with friends. (and many/most humans have these abilities) Ultimately, there is nothing magical/supernatural about it. But it usually does take a lot study/work and a deep understanding of beauty and contradictory human emotions for the story/art to be valued (or admired/worshipped) by other people. Religions were made by authors/artists/musicians who had many years or even centuries of experimenting and refining their abilities/ideas to persuade/manipulate people with words, pictures, rituals, and music, etc. The saddest part is that many of the authors/creators of religion also persuaded and manipulated themselves into actually becoming "true believers" in things they knew at their core were bullshit/stupid/wrong. (because the fame/fortune/power that their fables/art/music gave them) I just felt like saying things but sorry for it turning into a short essay. hahaha :)

When you're famous and/or American, you can do anything and they let you. You can publicly join whatever religion you want and claim to be its member without actually following it's tenants. The story of Abraham and Hajar is cute and would be (barely) believable if it wasn't for the mention of "Palestine", which did not exist at all. It was Eretz Canaan and was later Judea/Samaria. It was only for the Roman occupiers that the region was given the name Palestine in the 1st century and even then was still called Judea/Samaria.

I'd just like to say that in Judaism, criticizing the the prophets for various behavior is totally standard, but this is done in the context of trying to understand their behavior and learn from them. Often there is an attempt to try to understand why the prophet acted in that way and sometimes the rabbis cannot come up with a valid explanation. In Judaism, prophets are humans with fallacies just like anyone else.

In the bible Abraham never married Hagar. She was just a slave who beared a kid to him. Later 2 angels came and told that Sarah will bear a son too what she did. After she had Ishaq, Sarah got jealous and wanted her own son to get the rights of the firstborn, not the slaves son. So she asked Abraham to send Hagar the slave and her son away, what he actualy did. He never went with them. If we think that the same God asked him later to sacrifice his son Ishaq on a mountain and saved him in the last moment, its a strange story too. However also the biblical version is very imoral, but its far more logic and makes more sense. Another proove that most of Mohammeds revelations were a happy mix of epileptic halucinations, theater to justify his absurd imoral greed for power and sex and distortionedmemories of chtistian and jewish stories he heared in his caravan travels.

Abdullah, I don’t mean this to be rude, but watch the start of your video again. You fall into the trap of many atheists. Where you compare religious and secular meaning, you mischaracterise the argument of theists. Though some will say you cannot have meaning, that is not the main argument. The argument is that there can be no transcendent meaning, and therefore no real basis for things such as universal human dignity. Atheists subscribe to these things, but have no essential foundation for them, and thus they become myths and fantasises of atheistic theology. Atheists prophets (the psychologist and Dawkins you referenced) and in this video you’re just as passionate as any evangelist. I’m not an atheist because when I listen to people such as yourself, you proclaim rationality, whilst failing to see that rationality is not neutral, and thus become just as irrational as you proclaim religions to be. This hypocrisy atheists fail to see and thus I conclude that you are wrong. Please push back, as I’m always willing to listen to thoughtful arguments. In Christ, Adam.
