as an autistic person, THANK YOU for gentle parenting your child!!!!!!!!!! I grew up with split parents and my mom was gentle parenting me before it was a thing, and my dad didnt, he yelled and spanked etc. And its traumatizing. period. but autistic people are even more susceptible to trauma, we pretty much all have cptsd(because our nervous systems are so overwhelmed, so its impossible to not have cptsd for an autistic person in the world we live in)
@rileysmileyriley2 жыл бұрын
What’s cptsd? I know what ptsd is but what does the c stand for?

@@rileysmileyriley it stands for "complex". c-ptsd patients experience a number of additional symptoms alongside typical ptsd episodes.
@annabelledrake20272 жыл бұрын
Similar to ADHD! Trauma and ADHD can get confused in diagnoses since the symptoms can be very similar and pretty much all ADHD people have some kind of trauma from their childhood due to RSD or just being "different" in some way. So basically most neurodivergent people have trauma, but not all traumatized people are neurodivergent, which can make things complicated

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! for sharking this news (to us) about Noah. I am a therapist for toddlers with Autism and know with 100% certainty that other moms will see this and it will help them. I have had more moms in the last year tell me that they were enlightened by social media. Even if you don't think your helping someone directly, you are still softening the stigma by identifying yourself as existing in this space! You're normalizing life with child with an ASD Dx. Thank you, as a practitioner I am grateful for you.

I wish me being autistic didn't go unnoticed for as long as it did, all throughout my childhood and college I struggled in ways others didn't; I only recently found out I'm autistic at age 22. It has been so revolutionary because so much just makes so much sense, but at the same time it makes me sad because if anyone at home noticed I could've gotten help sooner and maybe a lot wouldn't be as confusing. I admire how you and Nassim do everything you can to help Noah, I appreciate you sharing.

It has been the coolest thing in the world to watch you go from my cool, imaginary big sister to a phenomenal and devoted momma. My nephew was diagnosed with Autism at 2 years old and is now thriving at 19 years old, greatly due to early intervention! I am now a pre-k teacher, and wish I could make every parent out there understand how beneficial early intervention is for children. The way you talk about, love, support and parent Noah goes to show that you were destined to be his momma. You have created such a beautiful family, and I am so happy for the peace and love you have found. Wishing your family all the best!

Omg! I’m so happy you shared your child’s autism; because my daughter is exactly the same. She also just got diagnosed…. And I have so many people with autism like you said who are unique. I want to help other families get into early intervention. Now having a child and knowing the different signs whether they be small or large; EARLY INTERVENTION IS 100% going to change them; detrimentally. But; it’s so fricken hard to get the resources. They make it so hard and I’m on the phone (for instance today) for hours trying to fight for my child!!!! I wish I could talk to you because it’s so crazy.

But the key is doing it slowly so you dont get mastitis. Also sunflower lethicin is a God sent when it comes to clogged ducts. Taking 2 in the morning and 2 at night help me with bad clogs and one or two a day as prevention have been my saving grace. Kudos to you for donating so much, youre an amazing person for doing that.

Get yourself a hand pump! So when you start weaning your pumps, you only pump a little bit. Enough to get some relief. Slowly but surely your body should start regulating the supply. I was an oversupplier and that’s how I helped regulate my supply while still feeding the baby enough.
@sarahhorne92852 жыл бұрын
As to the reducing pumping, I started shortening the pump session duration I wanted to drop by a couple minutes. I never got clogged ducts because I did it so slowly. Once your body adjusts to that new demand you can shorten it again until that pump session is dropped. Doing it slowly should prevent you from getting mastitis and adjust the oversupply.

Hi Jessie! I am an herbalist, doula, and just finished nursing my second daughter last summer. I similarly was an over producer and was pumping on a similar schedule to what you described at this stage! Best advice I have is sage tea. It’s super simple, and when made properly is super effective at reducing milk supply. A culinary herb so even if it doesn’t work for you, there is no harm done 🍷 Cheers mama ;)
@magdelinaskouzina2 жыл бұрын
And if you decide you’re loosing more than you want to produce for her to continue nursing, just stop drinking the tea. Increase with something like red clover blossoms or nettle leaf and you can restore until you’re comfortable. I went through mastitis with my first daughter (fever of 104.6 🥵), but with my second daughter I had it down with the herbs to tone down or boost

Honestly autism isn't rare, and we're only getting better at diagnosing and helping people as time goes on. So many adults have no idea that they are on the spectrum because if you're not 100% high support as a child, you're probably going to just get pushed along as slightly weird. I'm 25 now and have realized only now all the signs that were ignored (or that i hid really well) from my childhood. And I was diagnosing/interacting with people professionally and still never internalized the similarities. Without the stress from quarantine I probably would've never started researching and analyzing myself as possibly being autistic. I'm so glad Noah has you, and that you and Nasim sought external professional help from the getgo.I'm a huge advocate for gentle parenting with all children, especially any being raised in America where these kids have anxiety at unprecedented rates. Plus, having a degree focused on the biological and psychological developments of people, yeah I definitely see it as the way to go, just a lot more effort since 99% of us weren't raised that way.

I worked with adults with developmental disabilities. One of my fav adults with autism had a SUPER specific diet. Not a healthy one, but it was the lunch he packed every day. A pack of brown sugar pop tarts (that id cut the corners off of), a bag of chips, two fruit roll ups, and a pop. We tried to work with him to eat a little healthier, but he would literally get sick. Next thing to do was embrace him for who he was and to cut those corners! Because otherwise he’d spend a whole afternoon picking them off to perfection. Seriously my fav dude.

I’m going into my 2nd year teaching and can tell you now that I already want to get out of the classroom as soon as I can. The low pay is just the brink of it. The amount of behavior issues, innumerable responsibilities and (unrealistic) expectations that are placed on you, money you end up having to spend yourself to provide for students whose families are unable to, hours you spend outside of school to plan and prepare, causes way too much stress and anxiety for it to be worth it. Yes, I end up whole-heartedly loving the students that I have, but I truly don’t see it as a sustainable job.

I have a twin brother with autism and if I have a child with autism, I will definitely adapt to the gentle parenting technique. I do believe that is the right approach. Also, Jessi, I recommend rice blankets. These are blankets that have uncooked rice stuffed into the insides of the blanket. These blankets are heavier blankets that can be used to calm kids with autism down when they are having a big meltdown. I'm not sure what stage of autism my brother is in, but I'm pretty sure he is in stage 2 as well. My parents has a rice blanket too and this has helped my brother calm down, especially when he is tempted to throw or hit something. This is recommended for when people wit autism are teenagers, definitely not for kids Noah's age. Also this blanket is heavy but not too heavy to the point of making him feel suffocated, hopefully anyway. I dont know if this will help Noah in the future, but it helped my brother and I recommend it!

Ive watched your contest since the Vine days, and followed you ever since, and to see your growth has been such an honor. You’re truly such an amazing person, and you keep me laughing when I didn’t think it was possible. So so so happy to hear about you feeling happier & also getting to witness you talk about your family is so special because it’s so obvious that you love all of them so so so very much. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Also, I really love how you mentioned the importance of early diagnosis when it comes to Autism Spectrum Disorder. It’s so crucial. I’m not a boy, so my perspective is obviously very different, but as a woman who got diagnosed as autistic at 20, it can be so freaking confusing and upsetting to learn how your brain operates so late in life. You’re doing amazing!

Jessiiiii... I've been watching you since I was a literal kid (now 23), I remember the storytimes, when you announced you were pregnant and engaged, and it always is SO nice seeing your videos pop up in my feed

As someone who exclusively pumped for almost a year the rule of thumb both my daughters pediattician and my lactation consultant said if you can drive, youre good to feed. And the danger has NOTHING to do with alcohol content in the milk its more just dangerous because of dropping the baby. I got white girl wasted a few times and we always had the little strips that tests your milk and i never had to pump and dump!!! And beer with malt in it helped my milk supply a ton! And was recommended by my dr 🤣🤣

My second child is autistic as well and he's the most beautiful boy. I cannot imagine him being anyone else. When you used to let us know about Noah's speech delay and then other behaviors, I had a feeling he was because my son was a lot like Noah. He's almost 5 now.

💗 I don't know how to word this properly, but even if I don't enjoy children that much, I still watched this because you're soooo entertaining! You could literally talk about accounting and I'd be like YASSS

My 10 year old son is also on the spectrum, level 1. He mostly struggles with communication, following verbal commands and putting his thoughts together to be able to speak out loud what he's thinking. It's so hard being able to figure out something that works for your child to succeed.

Hit the nail on the head!!! Leaving a relationship now because I have to DIRECT EVERYTHING in the relationship. It’s like I’m raising a child. It’s exhausting and I’m done…
