Eluveitie really knows how to make ass-kicking folk metal. I've already listened to this a bunch of times, that chorus and all the emotion in his vocals gives me chills every time.
El-Vay-Tee and this band is amazing, I hate that they lost their original Hurdy Gurdy player. Great reaction!

I was so excited to see your review on this! Eluveitie ("el-VAY-tee") is my top favorite band, and if this song is any indication their new album coming out will be just as awesome as all of their other albums. Their music is magical! They are the masters of folk metal, weaving their mystical lyrics (often in ancient Gaulish) with complex, heavy and awesome music that moves your soul. Their use of the hurdy gurdy and tin whistles set them apart from most other folk metal bands. I really liked the blending of the harsh and clean vocals - such a nice balance.

This was awesome.....the drums were a bit much, but I tried to look past that, and this had a really cool vibe to it. The flute was the thing that really kept my attention, and the addition of a clean vocalist put it over the top for me.

Think I saw smoke coming from that violin. Probably Rosin. Well written lyrics. Slowed it to .8 of normal speed for my old nervous system to take-in. I've been doing that a lot lately. ••• PEACES!!!

You should react to their songs Aidus and the Slumber. They are out of this world imo.

I really appreciate the raw Celt/trad-Irish riffs that Eluveitie use... takes me back a few decades, to when I played guitar in non-metal bands that sounded like this. Too bad I didn't have the metal influence back then. For some reason, there are big swaths of the metal community that look down on Folk Metal similar to the way they speak poorly of Power Metal. The community at large could take deep breath and allow bands to pursue their own visions of music. With a Title like "Premonition", is there a follow-on song or perhaps a trilogy? For me, it has that feeling of "leading me towards the next scene". I hope there is more... O love a good folktale, played out in any format. I hope your voice recoups, Tommy. Tea and honey. Maybe a bit of lemon, to cut through the crud. [ I just found out my creeping crud-stomach may be due to the little water-district-co-ops accidental failure to let us all know that we've been on a 3-day boil-water notice... we just got the 'emergency is now cancelled' notice in the mail, but they never sent out the alert. Since I used to be faculty at the med-school in the department that taught (amongst other subjects) Public Health, Business Law, and Ethics, I'm kinda not ok with that 'failure to notify'-thing. I was wondering why my gut felt like a roller derby on square wheels... I think the only thing that saved me is my constant exposure to really dicey barn-bacteria from our sheep and the wild turkeys that have moved in. ] Be well and be you.

Regarding modern life: Renovating one's self is a nightmare. It'd be so much easier if we weren't also living in here. Some recommend meditation -- to have a clean room to sit in once in a while. I've had more success just embracing the commotion... with a healthy amount of thrashing and cursing of course. Truth is, the self isn't even actually the self. The self that can be talked about is like the beaver dam. The self that can't be talked about is the beaver. The beaver writing this just keeps ripping the shit out of that dam. Maybe someday it'll feel just right. Maybe not. I just don't know. I don't fret about it anymore, though. ••• PEACES!!!
