I fist saw Cold Chisel in a Sydney hotel in 1976 with no more than 120 people. I was up close to Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes. They were very young 19-20 yr olds. Security was just 1 guy on the door and no charge to get in. They weren't famous then, but hell they were great ! . . . a lot of their songs in those days were covers. They did James Brown songs and others. They were very talented kids. 3 years later they were superstars in Aust and NZ. They were snubbed in America by a record company because they played "black music". In disgust they came back to Australia. Cold Chisel made it the hard way without a lot of promotion - just pure talent, embracing the blues, rockabilly and rock'roll. As Jimmy once said "Music ain't got no color".

Chisel "broke up" in1983, Barnes went solo and has a ton of great tunes. Chisel has "reformed" again and has made some great cd`s in the 2000`s. Unfortunately their drummer/songwriter Steven Prestwitch passed away in 2011 from cancer. But they are still doing their thing and i love em`. Songs with Chisel .-"Forever now", "Star Hotel", "Saturday night", "You`ve got nothing i want, "My turn to cry", "When the War is over", "Khe Sahn" and more. Barnestunes:"Working class man", "Driving wheels", "I`d die to be with you tonight", "Lay down your guns", "Let`s make it last all night", "Two fires", "I`m still on your side". I could go on and on :)

It’s so good it’s it!! we have been so spoiled in Australia with the exceptional talent we have in our country that most of the world doesn’t know about and are just finding out about if you can’t perform and sing live don’t bother walking out on stage because as Aussie will just walk out no lip sync etc here. Bow River is a mix of Australian pub rock, blues rock and a bit of soul mixed in.. it was the best time to up grow up in the 60s 70s & 80s in Australia so many great band and singers which we still have them today but the bands were just phenomenal back then.. it’s a huge rabbit hole you will venture down into and one you will enjoy and be blown way by .. Aussie will guild you through it as they will let you know which ones to watch and listen too, but always do live versions of John Farnham, Jimmy Branes, Guy Sebastian these are the most popular ones that reactors react too.but there are so many more.. 🧐😊🇦🇺

Ian Moss is the very talented co-singer and guitarist here. The song that he wrote is about his time in the tropical north of Australia .He performs at his own concerts. Ian sings the beautiful, classic American song, 'Georgia" at one of the Cold Chisel concerts. Please check out the You Tube video of it .The brains behind the group is Don Walker who plays the piano. The fantastic harmonica player is not a permanent member of the group. Australian groups honed their skills and talent playing at (big) pub venues. Jimmy also does some softer songs, eg. 'Stoned In Love With You,' which are lovely. Please react to more of JOHN FARNHAM LIVE as he is a musical genius of voice and a consummate showman. Enjoying your reactions.

Should take a step back in time and look at the official video for Choir Girl. For all their hard rock energy - Cold Chisel’s most popular songs in Australia are actually more introspective ballad type songs. Flame Trees, Khe Sanh, Forever Now. But to see chisel in their prime, doing their thing, they covered ‘Wild Thing’ back in the day, and filmed it. It’s like it was written for them.

Love that you were blown away… I think this is one of the best Cold Chisel performances ever. Even though they are older, they are experienced, dried out and doing it for the love of the music. Some early works I fell in love with were the studio versions as some of the live versions are a little frantic, unintelligible and so fast as to miss the nuances of the art. Listen to powderfinger next, they were IMO the best band in the world in the early 2000s, but never got the attention they deserved being Australian

Australia had a very Strong Pub Rock Scene and these Australian bands were forged in that crucible if you could not hold an audience you did not get far other bands included The Angels , Midnight Oil, Australian Crawl, Mondo Rock, Hodoo Gurus, Spy V's Spy, Paul Kelly, Hunters and Collectors, INXS ETC

I've got them up there with Led Zeppelin and Metallica. They don't have any bad songs. Check out Wild Thing from The Last Stand concerts. I've subscribed.
