Even in songs like Fight Music that were produced with his band D12, in interviews they admit to crazy lyrics to incite reactions (not specifically violence) but his main points seem to be about parents’ ability to raise kids.

After the columbine shootings the FCC tried to crack down a lot on multiple artists. Top of the list was eminem due to his edgy lyrics and due to his morbid story telling. During this time eminem was feeling the pressure and delt with picketing, protests, bans from radio stations and media outlets, and even multiple speeches from Hillary Clinton and other lesser politcal figures calling for censorship. This causes much of his content to focus on freedom of speech, parents, hypocrisy in the industry and politics.

This song and the album are pretty much him pointing out the hypocrisy of the world/people trying to cancel him around this time. He got blamed for pretty much everything wrong at the time lol. I wouldnt mind but his first album was pretty tame compared to his other two where he decided to address it by doubling down. But thats just the way of the world, he was an easy scapegoat because he was the big thing at the time with questionable lyrics. Its the same thing thats happened time and time again, remember when GTA was blamed for this and that when that was the biggest thing with the kids at the time.

Its always amazing to me that parents will blame the music for the things their kids do. But it's not like his album doesn't have explicit content warnings and only to be sold to people above a certain age. So who brought the kid the album without listening to it? Or didn't check what their kid was downloading on the internet etc? Like he said the same people who complain are the same people who let their kid watch terminator. But his apparently his lyrics are more problematic than a movie? Hows that work. Some parents would let their kid wath game of thrones before they let them listen to eminem. 😂
