First few times I heard this cover I had goosebumps everywhere, just like the first few times I heard Disturbed cover the song. This was the first time in his life that Henk had ever purposely put distortion in his voice for a performance (it is considered taboo among opera singers). He's a natural Baritone who has been singing on stage since he was sixteen (he was 63 during this performance), and he is part of a group in the Netherlands called The Three Baritones. He is Andrew Lloyd Webber's FAVORITE Phantom. His performances on this show are ALL good, nothing lacking at all because of his experience. He became known as 'Uncle Henk' to the rest of the performers for the 2019 season and he even has a real sense of humor. My favorite thing about him is his open-mindedness. For him, Good Music Is Good Music, genre doesn't matter. Can't help but like the guy. :)

I've seen a few people mention that he was ALW's favorite phantom, but I've not been able to find a source for this. Do you know where he mentions Henk?

We are a spoiled bunch here! Floor being a fan of Henk for a really long time does give a hint on what he can do (and is willing to do). As he stated in an interview, he wants it all. Meaning he wants to experience every style of singing. Not very common for a classically trained opera singer. Your reaction was great and I agree with Fred: no words needed here, your face said it all! Thanks.

The first time I heard this I only heard it and never knew there was a person actually singing this. I just assumed it was some kind of computer program that changed someones voice into this. I never expected it to actually be the real voice of a person. Once I realised this was an actual person, I think this is the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.

Thanks for the splendid reaction. Henk did another impressive performance in honor to Rolfs grandma, it's called 'Noelia'. The high quality version with an intro to the song, and with English subs (thanks to Denise Hoffs), can be found on Dailymotion. The song starts around 02:25 and don't forget to turn on the subs. www.dailymotion.com/video/x7kqgvu After Henks performance Floor sings 'Que Se Siente', again world class.

Ty Queenie for the react, Uncle Henk sure gave us pure gold in every episode that season (as pretty much everyone else i might add) But this was absolutely one of the standout performances of the season and i personally have grown to love this over the disturbed version and have it on par with the original S&G song. I get what you mean with the way they film it that annoyed you in the past, the way they shoot it has changed, for the better. Ever since they have been at this location i believe, they made the camera work more "intimate" with more focus on the singers and a much better balance in cut-away's to the other singers during a performance, and that has improved the viewing pleasure a great deal. Musically it always been top notch tho, never been anything that needed improving on that part, so lets call it that the show needed its time to settle in so to speak :) i'm not going to add more requests because most are already being suggested so thats easy hehehe Ty for the upload :D

youtube contibutor Jenniezelf has done all full episodes with subtitles. I really recommend watching those because you get a lot of the backstory en after performance remarks... Even Henk with all his years experience was nerveous going into this performance.

This seems to have been a cover of the "Disturbed" arrangement: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJyag4mtaK5rm8k Henk's range and tone is almost identical and perfectly suits the rendition.
@steveknight8784 жыл бұрын
Yes - it is very like the Disturbed arrangement (even to the changes in melody) - but the Disturbed one was, I think, better - less vibrato, more tremolo (and not too much of that). Good, and if I hadn't heard Disturbed's version I would have been more impressed.

nice reaction. If you do more "Beste Zangers", search for "beste zangers engl subs", the videos include a bit of the conversation before and after the actual performance. Oh, and here is an introduction to all seven participants of this show kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHLMnYunja5geJY . As another commentator has already said, the amazing concept of this show is not based on competition or rivalry, but on community and on celebrating music together in all its different styles.
