@@deadgrlsuperstar when you first said 'when Adam started singing' I was so confused, and then realized you meant Chance, and yes when he begins the bass it is just amazing to hear, just as Tim's high register is wonderful. I do know that Chance's first name is Adam but because of Adam Rupp (who does such incredible beat-boxing as well as singing at times as well) he goes by Chance most of the time.

I know it’s a little late from your comment, but Chance used to sing bass in a different group before joining home free. In the lower octaves, Tim and Chance have nearly the same vocal range in their chest voice, while the growl and chest-fry techniques give Tim an edge over Chance, he can hit the same notes. After watching this song live, the main thing I notice is that since it is on the lower end of Chance’s chest voice vocal range he doesn’t have the same warmth and resonance that Tim would hold in the same notes. But Tim is also one of the best bass singers in today’s generation in my opinion. That’s just my two cents.

Tim singing in the tenor range, and Chance hitting those low notes were shocking. Adam did a phenomenal job on the beat boxing, as usual. This is a sad song, if you listen closely to the lyric's. It's about a man lying next to a woman and feeling guilty because he doesn't love her, but he can't seem to have enough courage to tell her and break away. Thank you!
@johndeeregreen45924 жыл бұрын
You got that right. Chance has a bass range, but doesn't use it often; typical bass goes to A1, which Chance hits... Tim is just a subwoofer, lol. These guys are so absolutely versatile. Only discovered them recently and feel like I have been living under a rock.

This is my very favorite video to watch reactions to … They get so used to the "typical" roles that each of the group carry only to have their minds blown by Tim and Chance... And the way the 3 leads match "tone", but maintain their own "voice" - handing off their parts without a hitch... amazing. And the look on your face throughout the song is priceless.

I’m glad you listened to those of us who told you to wait a little bit before reacting to this one so you got the full effect. For me it was like “hmmm, no that’s not Austin, Doesn’t really sound like Rob...it’s not Adam...is it Tim?” I had to listen a few times to convince myself it was him and until I saw the video I wasn’t 100% convinced that it was Chance with the low notes.

4.10 very true. I've seen this (excellent) performance many times (on YT), and almost no one points it out. He's looking for a way out of a relationship, but rather cowardly places the burden on the partner. In a song! "You are overbearing, I'm not in love, I don't wanna tell you" Well come clean and tell her! You coward 😡 So, the lyrics have me upset. But I give Home Free the benefit of the doubt. It's probably a cover anyway, didn't bother to check it up. But he delivery is sweet

This one is requested to fast for a lot of reactors to have that jaw dropping moment when Tim starts singing in his higher register. Then people get upset that the reactor doesn't recognize what they were supposed to be excited for. It's like when the guilty pleasures -DERAILED is requested before reactors know what the guilty pleasures NORMAL is supposed to look like. You should know what the norm is before you can understand what is going to be different... Just so you know what you are looking for. It just irritates me. I love it that Tim ends the song like he started it, in that higher register. When I'm singing with the video or CD, my daughter (when she's here ) sings with Rob and I sing with Tim. It's fun to look for harmonies you can sing like that and something we've always done. (The song that has the line "Big black horse and a cherry tree" comes to mind. ) Did that when I was younger with my mom also, we had 3 part harmonies then. Off topic, sorry. I'm happy you waited and got that little WOW moment! Thank you. ^_^

hehe yea we always tell people to make sure to watch several videos before this one. I love Chance's voice, but he didn't throw me as much as Tim did. And it's not a falsetto tone, that's like natural voice for him which is insane. ( oh he has falsetto. Watch Your Man live some time . There was one concert where he actually blew a sound system. ) Not a lot of people can do that and then just hop back into their previous role for the next song. That usually requires vocal rest for at least a few hours. You really should do some Nightwish. Floor Jansen can do do that in a similar respect. She's a soprano so she don't have bass, but she can get really aggressive and then go to opera or like pop rock, sometimes within a few beats. Storytime Wacken 2013 please :)

Nightwish is something I'd just (or more recently!) started listening to. Ummm, well worth the time! Now can you see why so many of us were telling you to wait until you knew them before doing this one? Are you glad you waited (: So there's actually a bit of a story behind this video. Chris had just left the band with their blessing and he helped choose his replacement, Adam Chance. Adam was the bass of his previous group but couldn't go as low as Tim. He joined Home Free as a baritone, but Tim taught him how to reach his lower register better which, now having a second person who could go low allowed Tim to take more diverse rolls. This song was to demonstrate Tim's higher register and Chance's new and improved bass skills.
