If you look up for another version with lyrics, please make sure to also get a version that kept the short interview in english she made before this song. She explains there a song is not limited by the language and this is not a barrier for emotions. Your reaction proved her to be right. Hit the nail on the head! You really don't need the exact lyrics to understand what Lara Fabian is singing about. There are other versions on YT with lyrics in both French and English. There are many more songs to review/react to. Lara Fabian is a powerhouse vocally and an exquisite storyteller. I discovered her music via a Eurovision competition where she performed "Adagio". Yes...the same Adagio Dimash sang so well. Lara also appeared on the MTV countdown (hosted by Carson Daley) somewhere in the late 90's with her (almost disco-ish) song "I Will Love Again". Check it out. Great reaction, you two. For not understanding the language - you did very well picking up on her expressions and movements which amplify her performance for those who do speak the language. 😊👏👏👏👏

Lara is the queen of chanson, a style of French singing (although most people outside of Québec would think of Céline Dion first.) She's Canadian/Belgian (lives in Québec) and spends a lot of time in France. I've followed her for over 20 years and have seen her in concert four times. You'll be hardpressed to find someone who is so much into character when she sings. BTW just so ya know-- it's "zhuh swee mah-lahd-uh."

Here is some more info on her: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... We can debate her rank in this list (in my personal view she tops theses) but she is there. There are also a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: - she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total - she is an amazing song writer and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-compose the music with the composer. - she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none - she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. This song is talking about a very toxic relationship that makes her sick ( je suis malade means I'm sick) and kills her. This Is a cover from the 70's by Serge Lama, but this version is amazing. You can find the same version with French and English subtitles, it will be stronger for you, you can live all the feelings better. Dimash is very crazy of her, she helped him and even sang with him. She's very famous in all francophones countries and her public loves her very much, you can check that with "Je t'aime" in concert in 2001,a very moving moment with her public. Love from France 🇫🇷😘

First of all I didn’t know this ‘sidechannel’ of you existed. So I subbed right away and then I saw you did this song by Lara Fabian. It has been on my ‘have to out check’ list for some time just didn’t get around to it. And boy, what a treat it was checking it out together with you. She’s phenomenal, I had chills and tears in my eyes, my goodness what a powerfull performance❤️❤️❤️I could see you both were moved even tough you didn’t understand what it was all about! Now a know the song for it has been sung in a tv.Series here in the Netherlands just a few months ago in a duet by two female singers named Belle Perez and Karsu. It's a nice introduction to French music. It can be fun and light, but also a lot of story telling and acting with the great performers... Lyrics are important in "classic pop" French songs. It's often dark stories but sometimes it's happy too.

To me she is the best female vocalist. She has amazing stage presence. She has an affect on me the way Dimash does. You have to react to the video with lyrics. They are heartbreaking. Yes Beautiful. Yes Powerful. One of the best female voices on the planet. And a sensitive and nuanced storyteller. Lara is also a renowned song writer. Professional singers refer to her every performance as a Master Class. No surprise that Dimash looks up to her as a role model. This version should have auto-translate - not sure why you couldn't switch it on - Yes do view it again. The Lyrics are equally powerful (Get the tissues out!} But, as last resort, if you get stuck for lyrics again for any song - you can always Google for them under the singer and song names and read it off for yourself as you go. Je suis malade (song) The real story of the song When the song was written, Lara Fabian was only 3 years old. Je suis malade is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade. Written by Serge Lama on a music composed by Alice Dona, the song became the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama who regularly takes it on stage 3. History The song Je suis malade was inspired by a real heartbreak of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love was a certainty, but neither of them was free: he had married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968, and she was married and had a son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and finally flees him and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick. Yes, Dimash is a huge fan of Lara Fabian and that is completely understandable. They have met and are friends.
