Just a side note,Ari Nicole..this song was recorded in one take,no auto tune, no computers, no BS, ..that's why you hear that stuff at the end of the song, they wanted to let everyone know it was done in one take, simply amazing! One of the tightest rock bands ever..

Props to you for understanding that what makes them the GOAT is their chemistry together - which is why their live improvisational style was magical. You really need to hear this track live - Earl's Court 1975.....along with Trampled Underfoot from that same 1975 show. Jimmy Page - the last remaining member of the Yardbirds after they split up - formed the band in late 1968. John Paul Jones - keyboardist and bassist - joined Jimmy, having been friends with Jimmy as a session musician ("musician for hire") in London together for years. Robert Plant was recruited into the band after a suggested tip from the great vocalist/guitarist Terry "Superlungs" Reid. Robert's best friend was drummer John Bonham, the GOAT of rock drumming. When they met in a small recording studio in London to rehearse for the 1st time, they each described the first time they played together as "magical." They dominated the rock world until John's death in 1980. Often copied, but never duplicated. TY for the great reaction.

This is taken from an old blues song, "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" by Blind Willie Johnson, 1927. There's also a great live version of this, "In My Time of Dying" live at Earls Court, 1975. Check it out!

Jimmy Page was in the yardbirds and they kinda dissolved in 67 or 68. He wanted to start a new band and already knew john paul jones from both being session players. John paul jones told jimmy about robert plant for a singer (some of the guys jimmy wanted werent available) . Jimmy loved plants voice, then plant told them about john bohnam. The first time they all 4 got together and jammed they looked around the room at each other and knew , wow this could be good!

It was the great singer/guitarist Terry Reid who told Jimmy about Robert Plant. Jimmy wanted Terry as the lead singer, but Terry was committed to a tour and under contract. So Terry turned down the lead singer role in Zep. Interestingly, Terry later turned down the lead singer role in Deep Purple as well.

Great reactions Ari, keep em coming. Love your insights. For me the thing with Zeppelin is the four great but EQUAL parts come together to form an even greater whole. Unlike so many bands each member of Zeppelin shines through on virtually every song and that is a testament to their talent and Page's vision for the band, after all he produced all their albums. These guys are the template for all who followed and remain in a class by themselves to this day.

This is a show case for John Bonham ..He is known for the signature bass to snare high hat rhythm but this one has many rolls..His Ludwig large drum set up was made to make it sound like he was on top of a mountain thanks to another drummer Carmine Appice that had a influence on his triplet style and the size of his drums that he recommended to John ..

I've been a Zeppelin fan for over forty years, and I still learn about their music constantly. Even more in this age of reactors like yourself. Things get mentioned that I had never considered. I am also a drummer, and largely model my playing after Bonham. You can hear so many dynamic details in his playing, partly due to the production that Page agreed to, keeping the drums heavy in the mix, which allowed John to utilize his skills to lay back, then sneak up on you with a BOOM! You will definitely enjoy learning all those facets of his plating as I have. By the way, D'yer Mak'r has maybe the best drum production sound of all! I must add that two of my personal favorite studio recordings are "When the Levee Breaks" and "the Ocean". Thanks for letting us enjoy your Zep trip!

Terrific reaction, my dear! You absolutely get it, when it comes to why this band has MORE than stood the test of time. Led Zeppelin (like many Classic Rock artists -- but mainly Zep) are like a fine wine: they just get better with age. As for this particular track...what you just listened to was a live studio jam -- no overdubs, no effects -- just four dudes pulling-off a masterpiece in one take! This is one of my favorites, and I'm pleased that you enjoyed it, too. I hope to see you continue down this rabbit hole, as LZ's catalogue is stupendous -- there may be songs the band, themselves, weren't too crazy about, but I don't think they have even ONE song that could be considered as "bad." That's enough for now, I suppose...you look lovely, btw. Take care!

Great reaction Ari, your commentary is really insightful (one of the best expressed takes I have heard) and a testament to how this music truly is timeless. Bonhams drumming on this is a powerhouse. The best thing about Zep is what you eluded to - they were 4 outstanding artists equally talented brought together and all allowed to equally contribute and shine in all the songs they put together. The Rover off the same album also highlights this, and has that driving drumming.

Very good Ari, nice to see you back to Zeppelin, that album was a double album with all kinds of bangers on it, try The Wanton Song, The Rover and Trampled Underfoot. You should go back to their earlier stuff to get a better perspective on their entire career but anyway you do it, seeing you react to anything they do brings a huge smile to my face. You look great with you hair like that! I can't wait to see you react to Pink Floyd, when you do have a chance, please try Comfortably Numb, both the studio original and the Live Pulse Concert version, both will freak you out! Jimmy Page was a well sought after studio musician so he spent a lot of time in studios and learned a lot about production. When he formed Zeppelin he knew what he was looking for and he wanted everyone to stand on their own with nobody standing out as the "one". I think he succeeded.

jimmy was in the yardbirds and after a while the rest of the band got fed up and quit. that left jimmy with a band name and gigs to do but no actual band lol. he knew EXACTLY what he wanted to do and what sound he wanted. john paul jones found out and rang jimmy, they were top session guitarists in the early/mid 60s so jimmy said yes. jimmy wanted terry reed on vocals but he was busy, he suggested jimmy check out a kid (19!) called robert plant, they met and got on great. robert then said you NEED to hear my mate john bonham hes a great drummer (20 years old too) when the 4 of them 1st met none of them knew what to play (they ended up doing train kept a rollin which 3 of them didnt actually know lol) according to them the room just exploded when they 1st jammed together and they all knew instantly they were good and VERY powerful. thats the short version

As far as how they got together. Jimmy was literally stuck with Yardbirds. Just him and no one else. Was contractually obligated to fulfill concert dates. He knew John Paul Jones during their days as studio or session musicians. He asked a guy by the name of Terry Reid to sing. He couldn't but recommended a 19 year old by the name of Robert Plant. Plant in turn says I know a drummer I played with. I 4get if it was Crawling King Snakes or Band of Joy. Anywho his name was John Bonham and the rest is history

Hey Ari Nicole👋nice to meet you!😁I’m a “Led Zeppelinite”like you’ve just become it would seem.😆 I started playing guitar 🎸 when I was fifteen back about the time John Bohnam sadly passed and for all intents and purposes, that was the end of Zeppelin as far as the band was concerned because no one could possibly fill his shoes. Not to mention that him and Robert were best friends and were in a band together when they were discovered by Page and John Paul Jones who were trying to form a new band(guess who🤭)but you were wondering how they all ended up together. Well when Plant and Bohnam were approached by “Jonesy” and Page to get together and see what they could come up with, they got together in a 4’by4’ft. room with all their equipment jammed in there and and lit 🔥 into the old blues classic “Train Kept A Rollin”(which Aerosmith has a classic version of as well) and as soon as they started playing they all started looking around at each other and they just knew they had something special here😳😲😃😁! I just love that story 🤭😆🤣Just thought you might like to know😄Can you imagine sitting in that tiny room listening to that!!!🤯😂😝🤟✌️🫶❤

Maybe my favorite Zeppelin song of all time. Or maybe Kashmir. Regardless, an absolute classic!

Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe live at Monterey Pop will blow you away!!! His first concert in the US with the Experience. Most say he's better than Jimmy Page so decide for yourself😀😀😀

Please watch some of the documentaries of them. You will get the back stories. Also the connection of John Paul’s death and how his son was the one one to be able to take his place. It’s worth the research. Great job by the way.

You have a talent in at the very least in explaining what you are hearing. Song structure and melodies you can envision the processes. Don't concern yourself with the technical terms (unless you want to go further), right now, just enjoy. Good for YOU! Great Vid, Thanks!

The story of Led Zeppelin and how they became what they became (:. The story starts with Jimmy Page who before 1968 which was the official forming of LZ (: . Several years earlier Jimmy was a session guitar player who was playing or doing guitar sessions or guitar work for The Who and many famous Artists back then (:. Now take into consideration that Jimmy was playing guitar since he was really young inspired by the music of his time (:. But as a session player he learned so much about how too record produce all of it and even played along other session players like John Paul Jones who knew how too play everything from guitars acoustic and otherwise and keyboards organs bass all of it and extremely well but often in Led Zep didn't get much credit for his contributions or wasn't .mention as much as the other three (:. But his wizardry was obvious a main part of Led Zep (:. But not too stray away from the story Jimmy finally did all he could in session playing and decided too break on his own and maybe join a group or eventually put one group together (:. His friend and manager at the time Peter Grant referred too him a great group who was already pretty big at the time (:. The Yard Birds but we're having problems with a member or there members in this case one member who was already begining too leave the group (: Guitarist Jeff Beck (:. Why he left I really not sure something too do maybe with his girlfriend or the fact Jimmy Hendrix was the Ultimate Guitarist at the time and Nobody but Nobody could match him not even Beck or Eric Clapton another great guitarist who might have played for the Yard Birds but definitely played for another great group Cream were he met and was introduced too Hendrix and his Larger Than Life Guitar God Skills (:. And I think he became his friend as well as Beck and Page who also could match Hendrix's but you name it Nobody could match him but everybody was his friend (: Hendrix was The Shit Then And Forever (:. But let me not stray Anyway Jimmy was invited too play for the Yard Birds and played with them for several gigs until finally the whole band broke apart and eventually left control of the name and music of the band too Jimmy (:. Then jimmy went looking for members too fill in the spots for a band or super band (:. He first got John Paul Jones who like Jimmy was already a Wizard on the guitar as well as every other instrument and had played with Jimmy so the knew each pretty well (:. Then Jimmy heard about this singer called Robert plant who was a tremendous Soul and Rythm and Blues Singer and decided too check him out (:. Now Robert plant had been playing in alot of bands when he met for the first time John Bonham a Phenomonal drummer at the time and already considered the very best in most of England (:. John went up too Robert and and told him your pretty good but you would be way better if you had me playing drums for you (:. Robert at the time finding that comment comical but interesting was seduced and then John became the Drummer for Roberts group can't remember the name (:. Now John before Meeting Robert had played with several groups and was beating pots and pans since he was a kid was just a beast from birth on the drums who as he acquired more knowledge and playing time became the loudest and absolute best drummer in his home town and most of England literally born too play the drums probably in my opinion the only equivalent too Hendrix's with John like Hendrix's was a God but only difference John played the drums and Hendrix's guitar (:. So like I said John played with Robert and they became good friends (:. Now Jimmy was still trying too put other members in the group with members of The Who (:. I think one of them heard about the band and thought that Jimmy was crazy and would never create a super group (:. Then he laughed and said it would fall out of the sky and come crashing down and burn like a Led Zeppelin (:. Which is another term for those Big Flying Bimps that fly over football stadiums probably Good Year (:. But back then not too perfected really bad ones (:. So Jimmy inspired by the name took it and used it and went too see Robert who when he heard him had too have him in the band and they became good friends Robert then introduced him too John and the band was formed (:. They played for the first time and saw they had the power and the electricity too create music that has never been heard for before ever (:. Most of them were very big fans of Rythm and Blues Players from the past and had middle Eastern influences as well as other musical mediums (:. And decided too mesh and create there experimental sound (:. At first the band was introduced as The New Yard Birds until that contract was forfilled for the last tour dates that hey played as that band and then finally they were officially Led Zeppelin and played the first time in 1968 in some school or university and blew the crowd away Blew Atlantic Records Away who signed them immediately and gave them complete creativity of there music which back then most artists couldn't really get ever (:. There Manager Peter Grant made sure they got paid and properly without the record company or venue owners ripping them off and make sure there ability too create was not disturbed and intact (:. So like I said as The Mighty LED ZEPPELIN they not only blew everyone away with there sound and power and musicality but No one wanted too open or close for them PERIOD in live shows (:. They were that great (:. 4 Musical Musicians that were already Masters before they formed Zeppelin and just became Musical God Like Titans who for 12 years in there career were Unmatched Untouched and literally created about 9 maybe 10 albums with some of the ABSOLUTE Best Music Ever Created PERIOD (: A body of musical FIRE GENIUS and Pure BLISS (:. But unfortunately in 1980 when John died it was a very hard loss and the band had too quit (:. Then Jimmy took it upon himself too preserve the ongoing Legacy of LED ZEPPELIN (: Which am happy too say it still alive and well and stronger than ever today and will always be (: Oh I almost forgot what truly made them LED ZEPPELIN and above the rest wasn't just there knowledge of the music but there uncanny ability too create and make up stuff on the spot when they were live on stage playing (:. Which was always different with every song and every concert (: They broke records and set them as well also played 3hour concerts opening and closing for themselves because as I said Nobody wanted too suffer the embarrassment of opening or closing a concert because there just wasn't anyone back then or ever that could match them PERIOD (:. INFINITE FIRENESS GREATNESS they were and still are (: But it started with Jimmy Page who wanted too create music that would change the world and found lightening in a box composed of The Greatest Goats Musicians ever too exist on this planet and the known UNIVERSE PERIOD (: And that's the story of LZ (: Oh I almost forgot Jimmy also produced and arranged all there albums each song which is also why all there music sounds beyond PERFECTION PERIOD (: Now if there were bands that came close or could match in my opinion I only know of two (:. Both Super Groups (:. Which means like Led Zeppelin they could do anything musically period with Absolute GREATNESS (:. These two are Pink Floyd and Queen (:. And that's pretty much it (:. Nobody else (:. You can check out there music also you will lol them too (:. Because both of them took learned and were inspired in some form by Led Zeppelin and members of those bands openly admitted too it (:. So Yeah Led Zeppelin is just everything PERIOD (:.

They are perfect and you nail it 1000% There are very few bands that have this perfection...very few. You have met Pink Floyd and the others ( if you make the journey) you will find them.
