So I actually saw this trailer about September 2017 and have been dying and waiting for this movie to literally come out. Can wait for 29th march in Australia for to go and watch this and that when and if straight people do end up watching they will then feel the struggle of coming out, cause it was pretty hard.

I want to see someone read Simon and the Homosapiens agenda and react to it... I read the book twice and am not sure I like the trailer, though I do plan to see the film on March 16. They’re also seems to be a screenplay of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. If you read Simon and the Homosapiens agenda you’ll understand he likes the guy with the afro and the laptop tie in and why there’s the carnival and I thought the coming out tie in was hilarious. Also Saturday Church is another movie not based on a book but based on a true story I’m looking forward to. All the lgbtq films.

I like the idea that nobody ever has to come out because it's not a big deal... I don't know the orientation of my children yet, they are pretty young and don't seem to have fully formed or realized it yet, but my goal is to set up the dialog so that if either of my kids is LGBTQ+ they don;t need to come out to me like that. They will just be able to say "So I like somebody" and I will be all "squeeeee bring them home so I can embarrass you properly!" and if they never have anybody I will let that be okay too.

I am commenting to counter any homophobic crap you will get or are concerned about. I am so in love with the book this is based on, and i'm so excited over this movie. When I read the book I was loving it through the entire story, loving the characters and the storyline, but as with most LGBTQ books, you need to be on guard for what they will do to the characters in the end. killing them off, leaving them heart broken and traumatized by how everyone treats them, etc... but this story was so basic... in the best way... it's a boy, who falls in love with another boy and then there's some drama and it is resolved and HE HAS A HAPPY ENDING... sorry spoiler... but that's what is so great about this... I am not expecting this to be some Oscar winner, that's not what I want. This is potentially a sweet simple, freaking John Hughes type teen coming of age with a gay teen and that is amazing! I have high hopes for this movie... I hope they don;t mess it up.

First, It's great that LGBT+ movies are going mainstream, BUT Hollywood homophobia [and phobias in general] continues to cast straight actors to play the LGBT parts even though there are many very good non-straight actors to portray them, probably to be expected as it's still common knowledge they discriminate against all but the biggest names who are 'out;' And, unfortunately, It's unlikely that many general theaters will show this, anyway. Thank heavens for Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu! If it weren't for Amazon, I'd be stuck watching pure straight comedies/romances/dramas.......

Yeah being careful with my words here to avoid a spoiler, the actor who plays the end game love-interest is bisexual...and some clues suggest they may have even rewritten his character to be bisexual? in the book it is implied that he is gay... I don;t know about the actor who plays Simon. I think you are right that they should be careful about casting straight actors to play gay characters, but also I wonder if we should expect every actor to divulge their sexual orientation.
