Idk nor care about whatever event is going on in Australia. Especially when it is not a fair, sanctioned, real race. I won't watch. I wont support. So I don't care what they do over there. I do NOT think Deegan should support it either based upon what very little info I have about this "exhibition". It is not worth the travel, risk of injury nor getting the short end of the stick on compensation. It was better the Americans & Deegan do not participate. Hopper- some facts you should be clear about and not ignore: 1/ you say the Aussies won't get to see Deegan race against the Lawrence s. Even if he came they wouldn't either cos he's not racing the same class!!!! 2/ This is not an exhibition event. It's a round of the Australian Supercross Series, taken most seriously by the local entrants. 3/ As you state Deegan wasn't 'banned' or 'blocked'. Being a last minute entry, and thus not budgeted for, ( the event will be sold out so the income revenue is finite ) there wasn't any start money to offer him. 4/ Deegan would likely lap every 250 rider in the Aussie race twice, so where's the spectacle in that? 5/ The Safety Clause makes good sense in the context of this ' off season ' event given the current riding techniques displayed by USA riders. Those quoted as being on the banned list could easily, and needlessly endanger the health of all the Aussie entrants let alone the Lawrence s...

In Australia we didnt hear a single word about Deegan racing this event which tells me it was a last minute decision for Deegan to race the event. The event is just about sold it so it doesn’t make sense to pay Deegan. He can race but wont get paid appearance fees. I wouldn't be surprised if it had nothing to do with "safety" because he won't ride in the same class as them unless one of them planned on running a 250 so they could win both classes. I would be willing to bet it's purely about the money. It's likely to cut into whatever profits they make if they pay him so they don't want to give up money knowing he's likely to win the 250 class plus they had to pay him to show up. If they were smart they would just do a public release stating as much and let it be done. That paying him to show and the likelihood he's going to win the 250 class would be detrimental to the local riders competing and would not be cost effective because they can not guarantee his presence would offset the costs to pay him.

End of the day you have to remember it's a business. The event was sold out already and they didn't want to pay Deegan when it's already sold out. They don't receive start fees because they get a cut of the event itself. If they pay Deegan to go, it just reduced profits available to them. They will race eventually and notice Deegan isn't saying much and neither are the Lawrences because they know it's just business. They could have raced eachother at MXON and will soon. (The 2nd/3rd rd recently in Australia/Perth was the events biggest race, a double header) Why did Jett, Hunter choose to race just 1 rnd of the AUSX event? Why didn't Eli and Roczen ride the AUSX event as well? Hell, McElrath and Savatgy raced both series.... Answer: They are just "warm-up" "exhibition" series for next year. And riders and their managers have carefully selected the "safest" ones for their riders. I mean Eli was never really challenged in the WSX. Never risked an injury. Was hardly pushed by anyone, including Ken. And similarly the AUSX event, should, be an easy event for Jett and Hunter. As I've said its only 1 rnd (rnd 5 and the last rnd, out of 5 rnds). None of these events claimed that they HAD all the pro riders in their event anyway.

Where did you get your information that his agent even asked for that kind of payout? He's merely stating a fact that 10% of sales equated to 100K based off the ticket prices. Nowhere is there any data claiming the Deegans asked for a 100k or even half that amount or any amount at all for that matter. What he's saying is they had at that moment approximately 100k to play with if the remaining 10% could be sold and potentially sold due to any sort of promotion of Deegan showing up. @@profutzer Johnny math is shit and has no idea what the ticket prices are, they just released the final 3000 tickets this week selling for $39 Australian or $25 US, VIP packages sold out weeks ago, so even if Deegan was solely responsible for selling those tickets that is only $75K so doesn't cover his appearance fee. Sure that they started in January, The Lawrence bother didn't commit until July. Ys deigns wrist was broken in Jan but he didn't know that he needed secondary surgery, FFS MXON was up in the air until late September. Johnny also said that his information is not 100% factual

The story here is Deegan is not getting paid to ride, he is more than welcome to come and ride. The chatter about Roczen, Friese, Anderson is just smoke an mirrors Anderson was never coming or approached and it wasn't because of any other reason than his current Kawasaki conract prevents him from doing off season races plain and simple. Roczen is in the WSX event next weekend in Dubai so logistically it probably wasn't possible for him to run at the AUS SX open, and Friese is ridding because he is in the Australian SX championship if he's not injured after his crash with Dean Willson, feel sorry for Willson he's probably not lining up due to a dislocated shoulder. So for all these so called rider bannings it's a bit of a farce and people should really stop and fact check this rubbish.

You also need to take into account that this was a single race in a National series, where other riders are in a championship for points, privateers are trying to get noticed and make money. There would be a cap on invitational riders to not affect the championship.

First things first Deegan and Lawrance's were never going to race each other this year and that gets soooo lost here..... Lawrance's scared to race Deegan ......... yeah maybe if Deegan was on a 450 but even then it's a flimsy argument. Simply it comes down to Deegan left it too late to commit, and had 0 promotional value ie: They couldn't use his name to sell the promotional material, TV rights, post and pre event appearances. He wasn't going to sell tickets because it was sold out, TV rights are sold and promotional deals were finalised ........ plain and simple the promoters were getting 0 return on apperance fees. The 4000 available tickets im not sure where your getting that information as through the ticketing provider there was only 200 left in the nose bleed sections and 10 in the next tear as of 2 weeks ago, yes was directly off of their booking site when I looked at buying some........ now I'm not saying they may have been holding some tickets to release pre event, to maximise profit or they have had some corporate tickets returned that they can then on sell. As for Anderson never coming never approached because of his Kawasaki deal, no off season races. Friese is racing as he's part of the Australian SX series. Roczen is racing WSX so his commitments lay there, so it may have been an issue of logistics for him and Tomac. All I know is this story has really shit on the industry from both camps. And that is the real issue...... you want to grow the sport not destroy it with petty politics. If there was a real issue then Deegans large group of lawyers would have been all over this from the get go and the event organisers not just the Lawrance's would have been sued. As it stands there is no legal angle here and that speaks volumes

Also it’s my understanding he could have still showed up and raced just on his dime !! Maybe my info is wrong on that but from what I’ve heard deegan chose not to go because there was no money involved. I think it makes sense to have a safety clause in the contract because this is a side show it’s not a series and guys will show up and race the Lawerence’s as if there was a championship on the line. The reason why is because they want all the attention on them, and they’ll risk losing a little bit of money to keep it that way. If Deegan was there than he’d get a lot of the spot light as well. Along with anybody else that the Lawrence sisters have a “beef” with, aka Jason Anderson and Justin Barcia. They want as little competition there as possible so their chances of landing a podium spot is more likely.

The event was a huge success. No one stopped anyone from attending. Payments to hunter and jett were in fact very limited. The promoters in australia definitely do not have a bottomless pit of money. There was no list of riders unable to attend. Don’t believe everything you read

No, I don't believe Deegan would sell the place out. Perhaps if he was signed up for the series it may have been different, and NO, it is not an exhibition race. When I purchased a coupole tickets for my daughter as a birthday present they were $49. Yes there are scalping site offering premium tickets for $250 but I don't know anyone fronting that kind of coin. Now my years of going to races and reporting are past me, but I have many friends who were at the MXdN and based on conversations I am not too sure Deegan rates highly on the Lawrence brothers radar. I would not believe Roczen would be on a dangerous rider list either - Friese, I wonder why he is still allowed to trace quite frankly and Bambam, while I like the guy personally, has overstepped the mark far too many times. I think what you will find when it all comes out is that agents are parasites and often make side deals the riders don't know about. I remember Chad at the Brisbane SX in 2009 being pissed about a side deal he was unaware of. Basically, when money comes to a sport things get complicated. But yes, have been put on my ass by Hannah in '75 and and seen some really torrid races - for $35 or $50 first place money. Things were much simpler back then, and more importantly, we were not spending so much time at drone altitude or had morons cross jumping..

@ the story changed when Star started getting negative press. It also didn’t make sense when they signed Anstie and he was gonna receive suppprt to ride for his country. Deegan could have delayed the surgery a bit, but that was his choice. That point aside, the Deegan’s are saavy enough to know their fans wouldn’t be happy so the Star story was concocted. But Eli being put on the team and the Anstie situation blew that narrative up. That’s when the “real reason” was made public.

I totally get the dirty riders not being allowed as this is technical a "pre season" race and all the dirty riders deserve to be left off the list. If truly they make money based on a share of the success then they are stupid to not have the most recognizable rider in attendance. If they already got their money and it was a fixed amount then they just don't want to race or have the best there to race and are probably afraid he takes way too much of "THEIR" spotlight away and potentially beats them. Basically they took their ball and ran home.
