Thank you for this great reaction! I was almost afraid that you'd say "well, that sucked" (LOL). Anyway, your reaction and analysis are spot on (and yes, they used the sound of a fire (bonfire?) for the background). About the band (from wikipedia): Faun is a German band that was formed in 1998 and plays pagan folk, darkwave, and medieval music. The originality of their music style is that it falls back to "old" instruments, and the singing is always the center of attention. The vocals are performed in a variety of languages, including German, English, Latin, Greek, and Scandinavian languages. Their instruments include Celtic harp, Swedish nyckelharpa, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, cittern, flutes, and many others. They mostly sing in German though, and have guest appearances from other similar groups or artists - Eimar Selvik from Wardruna being one of the most prominent. The band was founded in 1998, made 12 albums so far, and since 2021 they have their own record label: Pagan Folk Records. And as far as I know, they only use traditional instruments.

Love Faun. They are pagan folk in the classification. I love the song they did with Eluveitie "Gwydion" and also their song "Hymne der Nacht"

Faun is such a hidden gem. Please give their collaboration with Eluveitie, Gwydion a try. Folk rock and folk metal are indeed fun. Give Schandmaul a try. An der Taffelrunde is from their latest album and as good an introduction as any to their music. They''ve been at this for a long time.

wow, thank you for this amazing reaction. your analysis was spot on! Faun sings mostly in German, but sometimes also in Englisch or in other mostly older languages (like old norce). they use lots of "old" instruments like nyckelharpa, hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, all kinds of flutes, celtic harp and many more and combine that with synthesizers. they also record lots of sounds from nature (like birds, footsteps, fire, water,...) and mix that into their songs. some of my favourite faun songs are: Odin, Hagazussa, Tanz über die Brücke, Wainamoinen and Tinta.

Faun is a great bands with a long history and large catalog. Don't what you may have reacted to in this genre, but I suggest, Heilung, Wardruna, and Danheim as bands to add to your list.
